Winger Oscar Bobb (£5.1m) last week joined Fulham on a five-and-a-half-year deal. He cost the Cottagers around £27m.

The 22-year-old is a casualty of Manchester City’s recent signings of both Rayan Cherki (£6.6m) and Antoine Semenyo (£7.8m), so this move gives him the chance to kickstart his career.

So, can Bobb settle quickly, and will he affect the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) prospects of Harry Wilson (£6.1m)?

We’ll attempt to answer those questions below.

HISTORY

FPL pre-season: Pep on Bobb,

After joining from Valerenga aged 16, Bobb came through Man City’s academy to make his Premier League debut in September 2023.

Starts (subs)GoalsAssists
2025/26 (so far)Manchester CityPremier League5 (4)01
2024/25Manchester CityPremier League0 (3)00
2023/24Manchester CityPremier League2 (12)12

His first top-flight goal completed a late comeback victory at Newcastle United, soon voted Goal of the Month.

2024/25 was therefore expected to be Bobb’s breakout year, having performed strongly in the pre-season tour of America, then the Community Shield.

However, he broke a bone in his leg just days before Gameweek 1 and subsequently missed most of the season.

“I was pressing and then my foot got stuck, slipped with the other one, sort of fell back on my leg.” – Oscar Bobb on his fractured leg

Not to be deterred, Bobb was back for last summer’s Club World Cup and scored past Al Ain, beginning all three opening matches of this current Premier League campaign.

An assist took place at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but his game time soon began to deteriorate, not helped by either his festive hamstring problem or January’s Semenyo arrival. So all parties felt it was time for a fresh start elsewhere.

GOAL + ASSIST THREAT

There’s not much game time to base conclusions on but Bobb is an adept dribbler, accomplished in tight spaces, and perhaps more at home in the half-spaces than hugging the touchline, cutting in from the right flank with his left foot.

All four of this season’s shots were close-range, but off target. Statsbomb says his sole right-footed attempt was the one with the biggest expected goals (xG, 0.54) number, meeting a cross to put the ball wide.

FPL new signings: Does Bobb threaten the place of Fulham's Wilson? 2

Meanwhile, Bobb has created 10 chances throughout 487 minutes:

But there is a feeling that he lost a small bit of pace after last spring’s hamstring injury. Suffering this latest one convinced Pep Guardiola to sell.

WHERE BOBB FITS IN AT FULHAM

Above: Oscar Bobb’s positions in the last three seasons at Manchester City

Due to Wilson’s form, Samuel Chukwueze (£5.3m) has often been seen on Fulham’s left flank, battling club-record signing Kevin (£5.8m) for a starting spot.

So is Bobb the straightforward Adama Traore (£5.1m) replacement, providing two bodies on the right and two on the left? It might be more fluid than that.

“It’s going to be great for us to have another – from an individual point of view – good player around those forward positions. Can play right, like Adama [Traore], can play inside, behind the striker as well. He’s a player that can play in tight spaces. Between the lines, he’s very good.

“Now it’s a matter of us to work with him, to put him in the best physical condition he can be, because I’m sure that he’s going to be a very good signing for the football club.” – Marco Silva on Oscar Bobb

“He can play in five positions, striker, right wing, left, in the pockets… [he is] so dynamic and the work ethic is unbelievable.” – Pep Guardiola on Oscar Bobb

You’d expect Wilson to remain in the Cottagers’ XI for a while yet. Six goals and five assists ensure he’s FPL’s top-scoring individual from Gameweek 13 onwards.

FPL new signings: Does Bobb threaten the place of Fulham's Wilson? 3

Even so, this current member of the Fantasy template could be about to let his contract expire and leave for nothing in the summer.

In which case, Bobb is the ready-made replacement who could perhaps be eased into their line-up during the final Gameweeks, especially if there’s little at stake.

HOW FIT IS HE?

Bobb last appeared on the pitch in mid-December, being taken off very early in the EFL Cup tie against Brentford.

But despite the red flag, we might be seeing Bobb very soon:

FINAL THOUGHTS

Fulham are aiming for European qualification, thanks to five wins and 17 points from the latest nine outings. Both defeats came in stoppage time. There’ll be no let-up in their quest to finish as high as possible.

Helping this push is a nice-looking schedule, which our Fixture Ticker ranks as third-best between now and Blank Gameweek 31. That’s handy for the many intending to activate a Wildcard right before Gameweek 32.

The Bobb move screams ‘succession planning’, rather than immediate competition for Wilson.

Bear in mind that the Norwegian has spent a big chunk of the season on the sidelines, more recently with a hamstring injury, and would have to gain match fitness, rhythm and tactical understanding before even mounting anything close to a challenge to Wilson. Kevin and Chukwueze were similarly made to wait a long time (Gameweeks 10 and 13, respectively) for their first league starts.

Fulham seem to have simply spotted a relative bargain and bought Bobb for the (possibly Wilson-less) future. Not till 2026/27 is he likely to emerge onto the FPL radar. And probably not till the run-in, when the Cottagers’ fixtures take a turn for the worse and interest in their players will wane anyway, will he be seriously troubling the starting XI.

I know many say not to seel Haaland as we don’t need the money but I could do Haaland to Pedro and Miley to Rice this Gameweek for free. If I didn’t make those transfers it be Haaland away to Liverpool and Tarkowski away to Fulham. I think Rice and Pedro would score more. Thoughts?

Depends on the rest of your team. I have anderson but I have him as my bench player. If fixtures are particularly bad for someone, I usually play anderson over him, but he's doing decent to be on the first team too.

Wilson is also doing well and is also cheap (0.8 more though).

I'd have to see the rest of your team before I'd say yes, but Wirtz and Mbeumo have more upside than Anderson, but are less consistent.

Ok, if you have a guaranteed bench player like Guiu in your team, then I'd be looking to upgrade either Anderson or Cherki to Wirtz or Mbeumo like you said. I'd probably go Wirtz purely because you have Bruno already, but they are similar enough.

Personally, I'd upgrade Cherki to Wirtz or Mbeumo instead though. I just feel Anderson is so consistent that he's really good to have in the team. I've had him for ages and he almost always gets between 4-7 points. 16 out of his 24 games were 4 and over. Although now that I look at it 12 of Cherkis 19 games were 4 and over too and that's similar output. Cherki has more upside but also his minutes are all over the place whereas Anderson always plays. I think both are good.

I think your original thoughts are an upgrade. Sorry for the wall of text.

I am considering Anderson to Mbeumo. Or I could sell Rogers for him and afford for example Guiu to Ekitike later. Tbh heart says to sell annoying Rogers, but head tells to have the one who is more likely to haul, since chasing.

All 3 coming in over the next 2 GWs. Who can wait a week?

    A: Gabriel
    B: Rice
    C: Enzo

Rice IMO. 4 blanks in a row means he's not high priority right now, although I would get him (or timber, or raya) for the double for definite.

I would get Gabriel now though. He's good every week almost

Enzo is good and while Wolves looks like a great fixture. Only Aston Villa has conceded less than Wolves in the form league (past 5 games). Wolves have conceded 5 in 5, so while Chelsea vs Wolves looks like loads of points, I'm a bit wary. It's away to Wolves too. I don't expect Wolves to keep a clean sheet here, but I think there won't be as many goals as people think.

I would roll (5). Your team is already good.

1 and 2.. you are selling bench players to just give yourself a bench headache.

3 .. both Ekitike and Pedro are on form. Pedro has an easier fixture with Wolves away, whereas Ekitike has Man City at home. Wolves have conceded 5 goals in the past 5 games. Man City have conceded 6. So, it's an easier fixture, but not as good as people seem to make out. I think Ekitike and Pedro are basically the same in terms of output and I think this is just a sidegrade. I would keep whichever I had. I personally have Pedro and am thinking of buying Ekitike (but for DCL which should be an upgrade)

4 is a little better, but then who gets benched for Enzo? I just feel these are causing you more problems than you are solving.

I think saving your transfers would be better off long term.

Right now I would say Timber and Saliba are basically the same. I also think Wirtz and Ekitike are about similar in terms of output. So it's Pedro versus Wilson and while Wilson is more consistent, Pedro has more upside, and has good fixtures.

Is he even playing well? I haven't watched his last few games but he's been getting no points for the past 4 games.

How many bad weeks are people supposed to wait. People said to wait before selling Foden, but he kept doing nothing over and over and over.

      1. #1 Salah Hater

Firstly, do not compare Morgan Rogers to Phil Foden in terms of footballing capabilities. It's an insult.

I saw nothing but people rushing to sell Ekitike on here for 2 weeks straight. All of a sudden, magically he hauls and everyone wants him back in their team now. That's why the majority lose at this game - no patience + overlooking ability in favour of recent points.

I've watched Bournemouth multiple times this season, they have no midfield. Teams just running through them. They were also extremely fortunate not to concede at least 2 vs Wolves. I'll hold onto the 2nd best midfielder in the league for that fixture any day of the week.

        1. SalahFingers
          • 8 Years
          22 days, 8 hours ago

Firstly, learn to read. I didn't compare their FOOTBALLING CAPABILITIES. I compared them in terms of FPL points which is the only thing that matters to this discussion at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if you are the best player in the world if you get 2 points every week, so don't strawman here.

People want Ekitike back now because Liverpool are actually on form now and are scoring well. Salah coming back helped that too. Before ACON, they weren't in the best of form so of course people didn't want them. That's how this game goes.

Bournemouth are scoring well, but they are also conceding a lot so at least that point is valid.

Rogers is 7th best midfielder in the league, since we are talking about FPL here. Just because he does well on the field, doesn't mean he's worth buying in FPL. You might need a few more years of FPL before you learn this though.

    AI on current team value..

Based on FPL data and community trends around Gameweek 24 of the 2024/25 - 2025/26 seasons, the average FPL squad value is generally in the range of £101m to £104m.
Average Performance: Active managers with decent, well-performing teams tend to have a total team value (including cash in hand) around £103m - £104m by this stage of the season.
Top 10k/1m Average: The top 1 million teams often hold a slightly higher average value, frequently around £103.3m - £104.4m as of mid-season data.
"Struggling" Teams: Many users reported lower values, often around £100m - £101m, noting higher initial prices for premium players and the cost of missed price rises.
High Values: Managers who actively prioritized building team value through early transfers were able to reach over £106m.
Key Takeaway: If your team value (Value + Bank) is above £103m after 24 gameweeks, you are in a good position compared to the average, although team value is often considered less important than making points-focused transfers.

106.1 and I have made early transfers. However, this hasn't been good season for me and I have failed to pick many good assets early enough. Normally my TV has been around 108 million at this stage. Had I bought likes of Semenyo at original price, I wouldn't have needed to try to gain tv. With good decisions there is no need to do anything to gain good TV.

    A) Dorgu > Hill or Maguire and play this GW (bench most GWs). Bench Saka and play both Wilson and Kroupi.

    B) Saka > Rice. Bench one of Kroupi and Wilson. Play Mukiele or O'Reilly.

I am looking at Rogers -> Rice purely because its one free to get triple Arsenal, rather than two to get Saliba - do you reckon that's the right thing to do?

    Dubravka
    Gabriel Timber Thiaw
    Fernandes Mbeumo Rogers Enzo
    Haaland Ekitike Thiago

    Roefs | KDH Mukiele Dorgu*

It seems mental to bench Haaland but I can't see him getting owt.

Considering Palmer is basically a Make-a-Wish penalty taker at Chelsea currently, they might get one vs Wolves.

Wirtz, Semenyo, Ekitike all can wait a week. Absolutely no need for a hit.

    1FT:

    Pick / Dub
    Muk / Timber / Gab / Anderson / Dorgu
    Rice / Rogers / Semenyo / Wilson / BF
    Thiago / Guiu / Haaland

What to do and who to bench in a 3 5 2?

    A. Rogers > Enzo or Mbuemo
    B. Rogers > Enzo and Guiu > Etitke or Pedro
    C. Guiu > Pedro
    D. Something else?
