Man City + Crystal Palace poised for Blank Gameweek 31

Manchester City booked their place in the EFL Cup final with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.

The Cityzens prevailed 5-1 on aggregate.

It means that City’s Gameweek 31 clash with Crystal Palace will be postponed. The EFL Cup final falls on the same weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s side and Palace won’t get a Double Gameweek 26, however, unlike Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A new date for Man City v Crystal Palace has yet to be announced. It’ll probably, but not definitely, fall in Double Gameweek 33/36.

The only way it could potentially stay in Gameweek 31 is if both sides are eliminated from Europe before the quarter-final stage or if City bow out of the FA Cup before the quarter-finals of that competition.

That could give Man City and Crystal Palace a free slot in early April:

      I am wondering whether to sell Anderson or Rogers for Mbeumo. Chalobah is good for 3 weeks only, Mbeumo is certainly better than Rogers also for long term. Supposing you have other decent defenders, I'd get Mbeumo. But you forgot to tell your whole squad.

          I just sold Anderson for Mbeumo and kept Rogers. I really didn't like selling Anderson, but Rogers has more expected future points than him. I am chasing and on his day Rogers can haul big time. Anderson has higher floor and selling him after that 7 points from "nothing" didn't feel good. I did check the stats before the transfer, used quite a lotbof time and made the decision almost against my gut feeling.

            I so understand what you are saying. I am not ready to sell Anderson event though I have a high TV and don't need money. He is such a constant. Rogers has not been great of late. I will wait a bit and see what I think of his game.

      Chalobah has three good fixrtures left, I wouldn't bother.
      Mbeumo is a very good pick, but nothing wrong with keeping Rogers either, you could also save the transfer.

    Can afford JP to Ekitike, even if both rise tonight. Long term it becomes tricky, as will need to upgrade Devenny in order to have a reasonable starting XI in 31, although will probably downgrade Saliba and Munoz at that stage and bench Raya Gabriel Semenyo and Haaland.

    Ekitike feels like a long term great option, whereas JP will have to go fairly soon anyway.

    JP to Ekitike next week and worry about the rest later?

    Getting a bit tired of the Verbruggen/Dubravka combo and feel it's a weak link in my team.

    Had it for around 10 weeks and did catch the rotating hauls early on, but it doesn't feel I can really rely on either keeper. Fixtures aren't great ahead for Brighton and it feels there are at least 5 better keeper options than Verbruggen.

    Am thinking of doing Verbruggen & Timber to Raya & Munoz for GW26. Fixes the GK issue in the team, and I actually have the money and transfers spare for it. It also sets me up well for when Arsenal blank in 31 as it's one fewer outfield player to worry about benching that week.

    Know Munoz will blank in 31, but I think the short term fixtures will be worth the extra transfer. Bench in 31 will likely be Raya, Gabriel, Haaland, plus one of Rice/Munoz

      Dunno, I'd rather sell Rice than Timber. There are so many good mids and they can be tranferred as fixture runs change. Not saying that defenders couldn't be rotated, but defcon points are causing headaches to me. Calculating CS odds and attacking + bonus point possibilities was difficilt but doable, but now it's even more complicated.

          I agree. You have to choose your battles. For what I remember Virgil has been quite good at keeping Haaland quiet, but hopefully we get article with stats about this. Virgil is getting older and even though his recovery after that ACL injury has been great, he has reached 95% of his previous level imo. However, Haaland hasn't been good either and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Pep would surprise us with Marmoush start. Marmoush has been great and Erling needs rest to get his form back. Giving armband to Bruno is enough betting against Haaland for me. On his day Haaland can still brace in this game.

      I got Boomo. Fixtures just to appealing. Sold Wilson and have regrets but I don't think I'd sell for Wirtz. Same with Rogers until at least gw 27.

      If you can't get Boomo ( or don't want him) I'd probably roll. Palace as bad as they are have two amazing fixtures so assess next gw with 4 ft

        Boomo is a good pick. But Id rather have someone whos nailed for 90 minutes like Wirtz. Theres a lot of contest for minutes in attack for Man United. Mbeumo will very rarely play 90. And thats with Dorgu out, when hes back its gonna be even worse.

          There is risk of course and that's part why I didn't like selling Wilson but he will be fine by the time Dorgu is back . Sesko probably coming on for Cunha so not too concerned about mins yet. I think the 2 x 70 mins were a product of him playing in AFCON
