Suspensions

In the Suspension Tightrope, we look at the players close to a ban, already suspended or returning from the naughty step in Double Gameweek 26.

A reminder: players now reaching five bookings will no longer incur a suspension.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

Gameweek ban 26 yellow cards

The table above is from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

With five cautions no longer the danger zone, the next target players have to avoid is 10. Anyone racking up that many yellow cards before their club has contested 32 fixtures will get a two-match ban.

And your usual reminder: punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific. Suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

THE RACE TO (AVOID) 10 YELLOW CARDS

Gameweek 26 ban

“Hang on”, you might be thinking. “Wasn’t Yerson Mosquera (£4.3m) on nine bookings this time last week?” That he was, but it has since transpired that he did not get booked in Gameweek 24 (despite what the FPL total says) and he remains on eight cautions.

Teammates Joao Gomes (£5.3m) and Andre (£5.3m) are also two bookings away from a ban – so there’s at least no risk of them picking up a suspension for yellow card accumulation after the first of their two Double Gameweek 26 fixtures.

Marcos Senesi (£4.8m) is a notable name on seven cautions, sitting in over 15% of Fantasy squads.

WHICH PLAYERS SERVE SUSPENSIONS IN DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 26?

FPL Gameweek 2 differentials: Gordon, Schade + Diarra 3

Cristian Romero (£5.0m) begins a four-match ban in midweek. His dismissal for serious foul play on Saturday was his second red card of the season, so he has to sit out an extra game. We won’t see him till Gameweek 30.

Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.7m) will only miss Gameweek 26 and return thereafter. His controversial red card on Sunday was for the denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Kevin Schade (£7.0m) and Jeanclair Todibo (£4.3m) continue to serve three-match bans after being sent off for violent conduct in Gameweek 24. One of those three matches will be served in the FA Cup fourth round, so they’ll be back in Gameweek 27.

Mykhailo Mudryk (£4.9m) remains indefinitely banned by the FA.

RETURNING FROM A BAN IN DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 26

FPL notes: Dyche's Forest taking shape + praise for £5.3m Anderson

Neco Williams (£4.7m) is back for Nottingham Forest, having served a one-match ban in Gameweek 24.

    1FT. Looking for 3rd Ars spot.

    a) Van Hecke -> Timber
    b) Gudmundsson -> Saliba
    c) Kelleher / Dubravka -> Raya

        Just had a look at those! You're not wrong.

        Guess it's just down to security of starts with Saliba or slightly more attacking upside with Timber. Hmmm.

        Anyone think Timber starts both in the dbl?

              I don't know why this even keeps coming up. He is clearly the 1st pick RB and probably gets a rest in the FA Cup. He could get a rest at any stage but so could any of the back 4 with Hincapie and White both capable of playing full back or centre back

          Bit of both. Sarr is a known troll and only seems to score in very specific types of fixtures vs bigger teams who afford him space in behind.

      Hard to answer this without knowing your team and plans for the blank.

      i.e. If you have 4/5 FTs then I'd bring in one of the Palace players this week to take advantage of the fixtures.

      If not, then I'd give it a week or two and bring in Thiago to prepare for the blank.

      Seems to be a steady stream of TC this week (I'm not entirely sure yet, got burnt this GW and want to play ultra safe a couple of weeks), they say possibly only one more double, so most seem to be locking in on WC32, BB33, FH34.

    What are people's thoughts on Szob? Appreciate he scored yesterday and is banned for one but despite the upcoming fixtures I'm hesitant to hold a mid playing RB even if he is on some set pieces. Is there any chance Pool have a RB coming back soon?

    1. The Iceman
      • 3 Years
      2 months, 4 days ago

      I think there are better options - you can't keep relying on wonder goals from free kicks every week and he's at RB every other week.

      1. Jet5605
        • 11 Years
        2 months, 4 days ago

        That's what I'm thinking. Might ditch him for Dango next week unless we get news Liverpool have someone returning from injury to play RB. I also prefer Wirtz long term and could move Cunha to him soon

        1. The Iceman
          • 3 Years

          Dango is my current favourite to replace Rice after this week.

          1. Jet5605
            • 11 Years
            2 months, 4 days ago

            Like that move. Rice returns are drying up. May as well have Anderson and save the cash but I do rate Dango who is a proper menace

            1. The Iceman
              • 3 Years
              2 months, 4 days ago

              Yeah and Brentford's fixtures until the end of the season are fantastic. I own Wirtz currently but LFC have zero form and are going nowhere under this current manager. There may be better use of funds elsewhere but he's still a good pick in his own right.

                • 11 Years
                2 months, 4 days ago

                Yeah fixtures look great. A triple up of Kelleher, Dango and Thiago looks good. I may sell Rice and Enzo first and hold Szob for a couple more just I'm case Gomez or someone returns to RB. Enzo has to go after BUR and has much worse fixtures than Szob

                1. The Iceman
                  • 3 Years
                  2 months, 4 days ago

                  You're right, that triple up does look good until the end of the season. Agree with that - I think Enzo and Szoboszlai can probably go after the next couple weeks but defo give Enzo the next two.

      - I think after Tuesday it would be a good idea to get some Brentford coverage in - Kelleher, Dango, Thiago all have great fixtures until the end of the season
      - Shorter term you could target the Palace-Burnley fixture with Muñoz or Sarr, but be mindful of GW31 blank
      - Give your Chelsea defenders the next two before selling

      Sarr. Enzo has two good fixtures upcoming but beyond that Palmer has taken penalty duties off him and makes him a less appealing pick.

      Don't think it's worth it as mane will only go and blank in 31 and you prob need that spot

    Team is a mess, have 1Ft and 2.9 ITB.

    Plan was/is Guiu to Thiago but wondering if I should take a hit here or just play one of Rodon/Andersen?

    Raya
    Gabriel Tarkowski Mukiele Rodon Andersen
    Fernandes Rice Enzo
    Haaland Etikite

    Dubravka Szoboszlai Tavenier Guiu

      Unfortunate with the Szobo red card. This week just play one of Rodon or Andersen and then bring in Thiago next week.

      I'd replace one of Szob or Tav this week , then bring in Thiago next week.

      I think a hit is warranted here to replace both mids

    Would you do either of the following:
    A: Senesi->Munoz
    B: Wilson -> Sarr

    Both moves will have me move Evanilson to Kroupi, rather sideways but frees up founds.

      I like those moves but what are your plans for the blank in 31?

        Cheers. I'll try to manage without FH, have 5FT at the moment, so should be possible.

    I have already played my WC. Do I plan transfers for BB DGW33, free hit BGW31 and just pray for my team in BGW34?

      I would suggest navigating BGW31 without using FH. Teams that you predict will double in 33 will blank in 34

        Ok thanks. But won’t City and Palace blank in 31 and have a double in 33? Seems difficult to navigate.

          Team dependant

          City v Palace is not confirmed as a blank yet. Also 34 is likely to be a bigger BGW than 31

            All right thank you!

      Yes but by planning don't miss out on obvious good picks just because they may not have a double etc.

        Yah I meant looking at fixtures and DGW33 but ignore BGW31 (use FH)

      Why play Mane if youre C is Gabriel. Its counter intuitive no?

    With 5FTs, thoughts on:

    Rice, Martinez > Raya, Sarr for Arsenal triple def?

    Chalobah > Munoz (differential hunting and Chelsea keep butchering clean sheets)

      I'd be tempted to keep rice if you have him, can see him getting an assist and spreads the risk a bit. Palace a mixed bag at the moment, I'd hold chalobah for now

    Gabriel Chalobah Tarkowski
    Rice Fernandes Rogers Wilson
    Haaland Ekitike Thiago

    Dubravka Andersen Miley Dorgu
