Suspensions

In the Suspension Tightrope, we look at the players close to a ban, already suspended or returning from the naughty step in Double Gameweek 26.

A reminder: players now reaching five bookings will no longer incur a suspension.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

Gameweek ban 26 yellow cards

The table above is from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

With five cautions no longer the danger zone, the next target players have to avoid is 10. Anyone racking up that many yellow cards before their club has contested 32 fixtures will get a two-match ban.

And your usual reminder: punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific. Suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

THE RACE TO (AVOID) 10 YELLOW CARDS

Gameweek 26 ban

“Hang on”, you might be thinking. “Wasn’t Yerson Mosquera (£4.3m) on nine bookings this time last week?” That he was, but it has since transpired that he did not get booked in Gameweek 24 (despite what the FPL total says) and he remains on eight cautions.

Teammates Joao Gomes (£5.3m) and Andre (£5.3m) are also two bookings away from a ban – so there’s at least no risk of them picking up a suspension for yellow card accumulation after the first of their two Double Gameweek 26 fixtures.

Marcos Senesi (£4.8m) is a notable name on seven cautions, sitting in over 15% of Fantasy squads.

WHICH PLAYERS SERVE SUSPENSIONS IN DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 26?

FPL Gameweek 2 differentials: Gordon, Schade + Diarra 3

Cristian Romero (£5.0m) begins a four-match ban in midweek. His dismissal for serious foul play on Saturday was his second red card of the season, so he has to sit out an extra game. We won’t see him till Gameweek 30.

Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.7m) will only miss Gameweek 26 and return thereafter. His controversial red card on Sunday was for the denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Kevin Schade (£7.0m) and Jeanclair Todibo (£4.3m) continue to serve three-match bans after being sent off for violent conduct in Gameweek 24. One of those three matches will be served in the FA Cup fourth round, so they’ll be back in Gameweek 27.

Mykhailo Mudryk (£4.9m) remains indefinitely banned by the FA.

RETURNING FROM A BAN IN DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 26

FPL notes: Dyche's Forest taking shape + praise for £5.3m Anderson

Neco Williams (£4.7m) is back for Nottingham Forest, having served a one-match ban in Gameweek 24.

CRY do not play in 31.
Avoid DB arsenal defence, with the pressure mounting time for arsenal to start making mistakes and conceding goals in loss, draws and wins.

A lot of talk and controversy over VAR and that City 3rd goal being ruled out with complaints including from Gary Neville about common sense not being applied.

Regards of the game state, every goal is important and can have a multitude of implications.

Try telling a punter who had a big bet on a 2-1 scoreline or the Arsenal team who go on to lose the league to City by a one goal goal difference about common sense. Or how about we let some offside goals count because 'common sense' would tell us that no advantage was gained? The rules are the rules and they have to be applied correctly in every circumstance.

The only thing I dont really understand is why VAR had to get involved in the decision. Even in real, live time, the pull back of Haaland's shirt by Szoboszlai was the most obvious denial of a goalscoring opportunity you will ever see so couldn't the onfield ref have made that decision without the need for VAR to get involved?

VAR got involved cos the on field decision was a goal (assuming the ref played advantage) which was negated when Haaland committed a foul on Szlobo

the ref should have made the correct decision at the time himself then. He would have surely seen the foul on Szoboszlai by Haaland.

        1. Nightcrawler
          • 7 Years
          5 months, 5 days ago

Well the ref made an error. Var corrected it. Just cuz you're on an advantage doesn't mean u can go on committing fouls.

On replays it looked like refs view was also obstructed when Haaland made the foul. Either way the ref missed the foul on szobozlai and car intervened correctly. The point Ur making about punters. The only injustice would have been on those with money on 2-1 and the goal being allowed to stand

    3. MJF

Pundits - and managers and fans - set impossible expectations of officials. They want them to be extremely consistent in their decision making while at the same time, applying common sense, a concept which is extremely slippery and often seems to be in the eye of the beholder. I didn't see MOTD2 last night but I wouldn't be surprised if the commentator and studio pundits had differing takes on the incident.

I am. Not convinced triple captain Haaland later in a double game week. Gabriel gets just one clean sheet, defcon and a couple of bonus points, I think you're looking at 12pts minimum. Throw a goal...

A breakdown on the TC for Gabriel in GW26 VS. Haaland in potential DGW33:

Average points per two consecutive played gameweeks. Haaland 14.25 and Gabriel 14.33.

Very little difference between the two. For those who still have all the chips, it could be a good strategy to play TC now and, for example, use a BB in GW33 after a WC in GW32.

Hi, my plan at the moment is:

      Gw33 - BB
      Gw34 - FH

I guess Timber vs Saliba vs Raya has been asked a million times already. This site should have a forum with threads instead of comments with the same questions being repeated… I thought hot topics were supposed to address this issue. A good hot topic would be “best arsenal triple up” or something along those lines.
