It was reported on Friday that Yankuba Minteh (£6.0m) will be sidelined for two to three months with a leg injury he sustained in last Saturday’s friendly against Roma.

For Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, this could have a significant knock-on effect.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side have a decent run of matches in the first seven Gameweeks, bar clashes with Chelsea and Arsenal. Given Aston Villa’s injury plight, the curtain-raiser against Unai Emery’s side doesn’t look bad, either:

FPL Gameweek 10: Saturday’s goals, assists, bonus + ‘DefCon’ points

The Athletic believes that “there are no plans to sign a replacement” for Minteh, which, combined with Kaoru Mitoma‘s (£6.0m) injury, should ensure starts for Diego Gomez (£5.0m).

Last season, the Paraguayan began 25 of 28 available matches from Gameweek 6 onwards, scoring five times. He costs even less than the popular, cheap Pascal Gross (£5.5m).

Another interesting consequence is that FPL defender Maxim De Cuyper (£4.5m) could be used further up the pitch. He alternated between left-back, left-winger and being a substitute in 2025/26.

But, despite such limited minutes, the Belgian found time for two goals and three assists. The league’s number one defender for big chances created (nine) also came sixth for expected goal involvement (xGI, 5.95).

Gameweek 38 was one of two matches where neither Minteh nor Mitoma started. Hurzeler then chose Gomez and De Cuyper as his wingers.

FPL managers may see this duo continue, as the young duo Zadok Yohanna (£5.0m) and Ibrahim Osman are very inexperienced. Perhaps they’ll be saved for continental action.

Additionally, an attacking De Cuyper probably locks in left-back Ferdi Kadioglu (£4.5m).

Think A is going to outscore B over the entire season but would start with B.

Wouldn't go Saka.unless he plays the majority of the community shield and looks sharp. Would have thought the cash is better spread around the defence

      1. Don't want to spend much in defense early in the season and Arsenal have 2 not so good fixtures in first 3 and Saliba out too. Other option for Mids is following
        Bruno F. Semenyo Mbeumo Wirtz

  8. Team there now apart from indecisive between Groß and Sangare:

    Kinsky
    Gabriel | Shaw | Hume
    Bruno | Palmer | Semenyo | Wirtz | Sangare
    Haaland | Joao Pedro

Dubravka | Davis | Thomas | Walle Egeli

Sangare minutes surety seems the only problem Otherwise I really want him too

      1. Why mins a concern? He’ll be nailed surely, record signing

        1. I thought lack of preseason minutes

Now that is a team I really like the look of, although I'd still probably pick Mbeumo over Palmer to start with, great team though, solid, well done.

You do know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

      1. Thanks - I want Palmer so going for it even if it means no sheep pick Joao Pedro.

        Btw it’s Calafiori not Gabriel

    3. Sorry it’s Calafiori not Gabriel!

      1. Oh dear and it’s DCL not Joao Pedro, getting drafts mixed up!

Haha new there had to be something wrong there!

          1. Sounds mad but I actually genuinely prefer DCL to Joao Pedro, got this bad hunch about the latter

Well if you have Plamer that would cover Pedro, and Calafiori is a threat too, still a solid team, but Wirtz isn't for me, but any team with Haaland Bruno Semenyo and Palmer in it will go very nicely indeed

Still love the original team posted, I want THAT one

          1. It’s doable with Mbeumo instead of Bruno

No, has to be Bruno first two at least, in my opinion

Midfield of Semenyo Mbuemo Gross and Szoboszlai/Wirtz and one other? Go with Szob or Wirtz or both? I've decided to go without Bruno and spread the cash so who is the best choice for the remaining mid?
