Is Schade > Gomez too big a downgrade in your opinion?
probably yes because Brighton have EL exertions. Schade is a starter in many gws while Gomez might come in and out depending on fixtures and EL.
Gomez also still not 100% certain after his knock

I know it's a bit extreme. But I've dropped Gomez and changed to Schade, purely to rotate with DCL (I know these moves v often don't work out).
But for first few weeks they rotate PERFECTLY. This is also at the expense of dropping Isak for DCL. And Gomez been in my team for weeks.

They have pretty similar fixtures each gw, dont see the perfect rotation

Who's the player you don't currently have in your draft that you really want but can't squeeze in due to price i.e. you would need to downgrade someone else you also really want?
For me Pedro is currently out because I have funds tied up in Semenyo. Can't get both without too mamy cheap punts elsewhere.
I would say Pedro is way more essential than Semenyo. Looks like Semenyo will be relying mostly on assists while Pedro has it all at the moment.
Isak. Too many sacrifices elsewhere for me to fit him in.

I don’t really value Wirtz myself either, but still a bit unsure whether Thiago is worth 2m more than DCL
I think Thiago is a really slept on option.
Groß could be fantastic value, plus 5.5 price point has a couple decent DEFCON transfers if no successes or Europe too much for Brighton.
Ndiaye is a bit hit or miss for me. Pens great, but NPxGI isn’t so brilliant imo.
Would you take Schade instead? Just thinking that Brentford double up might be a bit much

Would probably go route A and then decide whether to FH depending on the form of City in the first 2 weeks

I personally don’t rate Palestra yet. Attacking fullbacks just need so many assists to cover for DefCon players that I don’t see the 5.5m value. For me would be either triple Arsenal or someone like Muharemovic who rotates amazingly with Maguire
Besides, the 0.5 would give you the option to get a 6m MID instead of 5.5, which I think is a massive step up with the 6m options

Very solid mate. Could even go Ballard or Mosquera > 4.5 if you want to upgrade Slater a little bit. In saying that 4-3-3 is very viable in your set up so you dont have to play Sangare every week even without upgrading your 5th mid.

At the risk of overanalysing, GW1 historically has a slightly lower goals per game ratio due to match fitness, conservative tactics and new players bedding in.

Would definitely do so, yes! You already have the big guys, so no need to keep money ITB. Personally would also upgrade Shaw -> Maguire or Rodon -> Muharemovic

Every time I get tempted by BB1, this thought returns:
There are so many likely underpriced gems, some of whom are already tempting, others waiting to be seen, that there's a chance a strong 15-player squad would appear over time, like it did after Salah dropped off last season
Might not need a wildcard or 5 FTs to set up the first bench boost, maybe just 2 or 3 FTs, especially to get a 2nd GK whose fixtures actually align for the BB
I don't like the BB1 fixtures enough; feels kinda forced especially because I want Haaland, Bruno, and 1/2 Arsenal defs until proven otherwise. BB2 is within an active transfer window, depending on promoted teams (the highest unknown)... And I still don't know who'll have great/meh/bad seasons, among teams and players

But I can also do that in a random GW because I've got 2 cheap def subs with a good game, a cheap DC mid facing an opponent who's good for DCs (can be a difficult game on paper), and even a non-playing GK... To get it out of the way

I fully agree with you. However, I always like to have a balanced squad anyways with 4 playable DEFs and 8 playable attackers. So BB1 or BB2 gets fairly easy then if you select only 1 IPS or COV defender
Gw2 is the BB for me. Can put 4m Coventry fodder on the bench in hope of a cs and there are loads of decent 5th mids. No funds tied up poorly
I've been on BB2 so far hoping for double cs points from Coventry against Hull, but since I tend to end up with drafts with Gomez as 5th mid (wishing him a speedy recovery!) , I'm now leaning towards GW1 BB.
Have I made the back too weak for the front 8 or am I GTG for this GW1 BB (FH GW3)?

Perfectly valid arguments. But for the first wildcard , as there is no DGWs, you just want some potential points from your cheap bench fillers, and then either Ipswich/Brighton/Sunderland or Coventry/Sunderland fit the bill with good fixtures for GW's 1 or 2. As far as I understand we know pretty well which £4.0 defenders from the promoted sides should start. And the risk of injuries should be smaller if you pick nailed players to start the season
Fair enough, but we can roll 5 FTs and there still is that first WC, meaning more data on who's actually good or bad (imagine targeting Sunderland or Brentford based on preseason predictions last season)
Meaning you could still pick the cheapest viable options on your bench with first WC and BB without expecting all 4 subs to hit, just like BB1
True, you'll have more information say playing it after your 1st WC. But I think the key to first BB is cheap defenders from Coventry, Ipswich and/or, Sunderland , and then BB1 or BB2 is the easiest to plan for. After that, Coventry and Ipswich have tricky fixtures afor a while after GW's 1 and 2, so better get it done.
A) Mbeumo + Groß/Sangare/5.5
B) Wirtz + DCL
Both to play every week
A for short term and then transfer Mbeumo after the good fixtures

Funnily enough I would only consider downgrading the defence, Gab to Calafiori is on the cards, always put money in attack to start the season. Shaw and Hume will be staying for first three whatever.
It's a really good team for sure. I feel it's the safe approach.
I like to play it different and BB early. You do have to make some choices in defense in GW4 and GW5. Gabriel in 4 and 5 looks good, and Shaw in 5 looks good. Other than that those defenders will probably be 1-2 pointers. But that is due to going Haaland, Bruno, Gabriel and still opt for mids and attackers in the 7-8 mil bracket. Team is fine, but you will probably put yourself in a position where you transfer out cheap defenders in 4 and/or 5?
Thanks mate, safe suits me. Would like to BB early but can’t find a squad I’m happy with. Will happily play Davis/van Ewijk in 4/5 if needed, think Shaw kept a cleanie last time he played City too but I don’t expect much from defenders anyway.

Seeing Kinsky paired with Verb a lot. Is there a reason (e.g., rotation alignment) for that I'm missing?
I'm going with Lammens & Verb, which (with FH3) gives Hull, Ipswich, Hull, Coventry, Fulham for the first six weeks.
I guess people prefer Maguire over Lammens and only spending £9m on keepers?

I quite like Wilson and his fixtures. Was in a lot of teams last season, do people not expect him to do well at Leeds? Modest 7% ownership but few in here seem to have him in drafts.

Good options for 6.5m this season, I've gone Odegaard over Tzolis for a change. Also like Dango but Wilson is also a cracking player for the money. Ditto Sarr.

Ampadu is a steady albeit not very exciting pick. Think Wilson is worth the extra over him
