Two Spanish head coaches make their first appearances in a Premier League dugout this evening at Craven Cottage.

Alvaro Arbeloa takes charge of Fulham for the first time in a competitive game, while Xabi Alonso does likewise for Chelsea.

Both managers, of course, spent time in charge of Real Madrid last season.

Kick-off in west London is at 20:00 BST.

TEAM NEWS

There are a few surprises on – or missing from – the Chelsea teamsheet.

Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra were both expected to be in the Blues’ starting XI this evening but miss out.

Their absences sound precautionary:

Those two are among four changes from Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly XI against Real Sociedad.

Wesley Fofana is injured and Pedro Neto drops to the bench.

Josh Acheampong, Malo Gusto, Jorell Hato and Romeo Lavia come into the line-up.

Arbeloa goes with the same team he sent out in the Cottagers’ final warm-up match of the summer.

Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios get their Premier League debuts.

LINE-UPS

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill, Gusto, Lavia, James, Hato, Palmer, Joao Pedro, Rogers.

Subs: Penders, Chavarria, Barco, Fernandez, Neto, Gittens, Estevao, Welbeck, Quenda.

Fulham XI: Leno, Castagne, Cuenca, Bassey, Robinson, King, Berge, Iwobi, Bobb, Garcia, Palacios

Subs: Lecomte, De Gougerolles, Tete, Reed, Charles, Sessegnon, Kevin, Smith Rowe, Muniz.

Chelsea spend hundreds of millions every year but never bother with a keeper. Could have just gone with martinez

800k BB used or something similar

Double chips skews the weekly Gw ranks

yeah if not using chips early ranks are going to be skewed massively, probably a lot of BB in GW2 aswell, most will use TC in GW3 with Haaland at home to Coventry and GW4 could be popular for FH

They could lock the game down in a back 5 with McBurnie dropping deep.

That's just hindsight speaking. Mbuemo was the better pick before the games and the season isn't just about 1 gameweek anyway. Utd home to Ipswich next.

One of them. Both aren’t needed when DEFCONs are in the game. So many defenders will probably outscore one of Rogers or Palmer by the end of the season

Dunno yet. I wanna give it three games. Using a one-game sample never ends well...

I'm thinking just one of Palmer/Rogers on WC4 though. Brentford away after the Hull game, which I think might be a tough fixture.

This could be the one : WC template if playing week 2 to go onwards

    Kinsky
    White Calafiori Rodon
    Saka Sangare Szob Palmer mBuemo
    Pedro Haaland (c)
    4mil Ajer De Cup 4,5mil

And flip Mbuemo > Cherki week 3 > Rogers week 4

Dont see alot wrong with the above template, defcon guys in defence and mid, pen takers, arsenal defence. Bench Pedro at Arsenal for De Cuper.

Kinksy a risk agree but possible best of 4.5mil , verb hasnt great fixtures, petrovic has the new goalkeeper risk. The hull keeper could be interesting though.

Szob is a lock, 7mil, on freekicks, pens and gets close to defcons each game. He will tick along with 4-6 points most weeks

Not right now maybe, but for end of season rank against serious managers, 100%.

Pedro on like 99% ownership and then theres people who own Pedro + Palmer. You lose overall against the field with just Pedro
