Fantasy EFL continues with Gameweek 4, and there’s even more to consider this week with Championship clubs playing twice.
Ahead of the deadline, our experts reveal their latest teams and talk through their captaincy decisions and plans for the Double Gameweek.

NOTES
- Defence looks fairly short of options this week, so I’ve backed the three defences I expect to be most popular. I may still switch Daniel Peretz and Nat Phillips to Max O’Leary and Keven Schlotterbeck, but I’m sticking with this combination for now.
- In midfield, I’ve gone for Isaac Price and Finn Azaz. I expect both to be in almost everyone’s team, although I’ll still look at some different options to see if I can gain points elsewhere. Their key passes and shots on target give them decent points floors, while both can obviously contribute goals and assists. I don’t see either leaving my team.
- Up front, Jarrod Bowen feels like another player who will be everywhere. On paper, he’s the obvious pick, although this could be an opportunity to go against him. The problem is that I can’t find anyone I really like outside of Bowen and my other forward, Jay Stansfield.
- Stansfield is more of a differential. He takes penalties and, since moving into the number 10/shadow-striker role, has been getting a decent number of chances. I think Sunday could be a goal fest, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets his first of the season.
- My team picks are fairly self-explanatory. I think selecting two of West Brom, West Ham and Southampton puts you in a good position this week. I’m on West Ham and Southampton for now, as the historical record in the Derby-West Brom fixture isn’t particularly promising for the Baggies, although that could ultimately mean very little.

- I’m starting with Max O’Leary in goal. West Brom have always been an underrated defence, while opponents Watford and Derby have both made poor starts.
- My first defender is Konstantinos Mavropanos. West Ham are one of the best teams in the league and have good fixtures this week. He also carries goal threat from set pieces, while I expect West Ham defensive ownership to be high, so I want some coverage. Kevin Schlotterbeck is my second defender. Southampton are another strong defensive side with good fixtures this week. As THB’s replacement, Schlotterbeck also offers goal threat and good DefCon numbers, making him an appealing differential.
- In midfield, Rubin Colwill is my first pick. Cardiff’s defence may not be the best, but I really rate their attack. Meetings with Portsmouth and a very poor Stoke side look ideal, while Colwill is a key player for Cardiff. I’m also considering Salech but currently leaning away from him. Andre Brooks also makes the team after an excellent run of form. A huge 28-point return in the previous Double Gameweek makes him difficult to ignore. My final midfielder is Azaz. We all know how good he is, while I think he has the best minutes of Southampton’s attackers. With two prime fixtures, he’s also a possible captaincy option.
- Up front, Jarrod Bowen gets the armband. He’s far too good for the Championship, so he’s genuinely someone I can consider every week. The fact he also has good fixtures this time makes the decision even easier. For my team picks, I’m keeping things safe with West Ham and Southampton. I want to bank some straightforward points rather than going too different, having learnt that lesson the hard way last week.

- Finally, we have a Championship Double Gameweek. In goal, I’m going for Daniel Peretz, who has good clean-sheet odds and gives me coverage of their defence.
- Konstantinos Mavropanos is back from injury and also has good clean-sheet prospects. His goal threat makes him one of the best ways to cover the defence. My other defender is Lloyd Jones. His fantastic bonus potential and goal threat make him particularly appealing across two fixtures.
- In midfield, my first pick is Isaac Price. He’s in good form and could also have penalties, depending on the line-ups. The second midfield spot is trickier, but I’m going for Léo Scienza. We saw what he was capable of last season and he offers plenty of upside. Hector Kyprianou has less upside but should tick along nicely through interceptions, as we’ve already seen.
- Up front, Jarrod Bowen is self-explanatory and gets the captaincy. He has penalties and takes corners from one side, so he looks like an easy pick. Southampton and West Ham are my team picks. They look like the two standouts this week, so I think they’re worth using rather than saving.

- At some point, I expect West Ham to click, and I think that could happen this week. With two decent fixtures, Mads Hermansen is my goalkeeper.
- In defence, I’m going with Keven Schlotterbeck and Lloyd Jones. Both have started the season well and offer good defensive-contribution potential. Their fixtures also appeal, and I can see them picking up at least two clean sheets from the four matches, potentially with some bonus points too. My three midfielders are Finn Azaz, Isaac Price and Kristi Montgomery.
- The first two offer plenty of potential for goals and assists, while Montgomery is an interception farmer. Up front, I’ve gone for Cyle Larin. Four games, four goals and eight shots on target is a very good record to start the season with. Southampton and Charlton are my team picks. Both have good fixtures and have started the season in form, so I really fancy the pair this week.
