The Scout Squad returns ahead of Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

In this article, our in-house team of Marc, Sam, Tom F and Neale will discuss who they think the best FPL players are for the upcoming Gameweek in isolation.

MORE ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Scout Squad Gameweek 1

The focus is only on the upcoming Gameweek with the Scout Squad, so there’s no medium-term planning involved.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, we have to select cheaper alternatives.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

If this happened to you, how would you find a positive or what mental tips would you use to just just get on with it unaffected?

I changed captain from Tzolis to Bruno last week about an hour before deadline, saved it, got a page about updating a badge (rather than straight to team) but it said below, your team has been saved. Then pressed the team, which had Bruno captain.

Game updates about 8pm I check and it is Tzolis again. Emailed FPL Friday night in case it was a glitch but didn't seem it.

i could then guarantee how the weekend would pan out. Bruno is highest scorer in a SGW in about 3 years which was hard enough to take despite owning him.

What was worse though (as I couldn't bet on that) was Tzolis getting '0'. I believe the only player in over 300 last GW to score 0. Even two points I could accept but 0 just rubs your nose in it a bit more.

Basically the intended captain is the highest score of 300 GW players and the actual captain is the lowest of 300. The odds of the two extremes must be in the millions.

Even 3rd highest / 3rd lowest of a GW you could stomach but the two highest extremes does suggest that there are greater forces at work.

I would be annoyed at myself for leaving a decision so late, then literally moments later remember that it’s only a game that does not matter and just get on with my life tbh

I’m sorry, that really sucks. The FPL website can be super frustrating sometimes.

At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that FPL is only a game. We’re here to have fun and it’s good not to get too high about the highs and too low about the lows. You certainly have an FPL story to tell now!

FPL is also a long game. Even last year’s winner was ranked about 8m after GW1. There’s plenty of time to come back from bad results, whether those are down to the players you pick, or the software being bad.

Take a break if you need to. Otherwise, chin up, imagine what story you'll have to tell if FPL are interviewing you as champion come the end of the season!

Was playing around with a WC draft and hit confirm by mistake.

Have messed up the defence royally and lost value on players (had Califiori and Wissa before their price rises).

If mosquera is out injured then he must be. Until Mosquera returns at least. But I imagine Konsa will play well enough to keep the spot until Saliba returns. But that will come down to his form.

Ooh barcola 8m is a good price. He's a baller. Think he'll be in lots of teams soon. I'm on wildcard with Cherki and Foden both of whom I expect will see lots of rotation over the longer time. I'll be eyeing up barcola in for one of them soon I reckon.

Need advice please. Had a decent week last week but now have serious issues with my team. £0 in the bank, 2 free transfers. I'd like to TC Haaland this week but I think a wildcard might be needed?

    Kinsky/ Palmer(non starter)
    Shaw Gabriel Thomas(vs MCI) Diop(vs LIV) Rodon(inj)
    Bruno Mbeumo Sangaré LeFee Ndiaye(benched?)
    JPedro Haaland DCL

    A) WC
    B) Use 2FTs to offload Kinsky & Rodon
    C) FH
    D) Do something else?

    Team:

On WC, and the plan has been to have Wirtz and Cherki, whoever looks the worst pick (performance or mins) is transferred to Rogers next week.
What's throwing me is do I go with Szob instead of Wirtz and keep the 0.5m back in case I want an £8.0 mill player instead (Ie Barcola or MGW). Although now having typed this out I may have given myself my answer

I think Coventry & Chelsea will concede a few. Think Saka is best long term shout

    Major benching headache

    Raya,
    Calafiori, Gvardiol, Hall,
    Palmer, Szob, Sangare, Cherki,
    Haaland, Wissa, J Pedro,

Palmer (GK), De Cuyper, Gross, Konsa

Would you sub someone out for either of the Brighton lads or GTG?

I would be quite tempted to play De Cuyper over one of the chelsea boys this week with them playing Arsenal.

I prefer Palmer over Pedro due to pens.
