Joao Pedro out of Brazil squad with reported injury

Joao Pedro (£7.8m) has pulled out of the Brazil squad for the upcoming September internationals, casting doubt over his involvement for Gameweek 5.

The Brazilian Football Federation say that the striker is “injured”.

The Chelsea striker, owned by 75% of Fantasy Premier League managers, had not been seen by Sky Sports cameras in training earlier this week.

Despite some media reports suggesting he was “expected to be fit”, this latest development surely renders him a major concern for Friday’s clash with Brentford.

ARE THERE ANY MORE DETAILS ON THE INJURY?

Brazilian outlet Globo say that Pedro “hurt his knee [on Saturday] in a fall after a challenge for the ball in the air, remained on the field, and even scored a goal, but continued to experience pain and later underwent medical examinations.”

Pedro did appear to be struggling at one point but completed the game:

    With Pedro out, who would you play?

    a) De Cuyper vs Arsenal
    b) Slater vs Newcastle
    c) De Cuyper to N. Williams vs Coventry

    I think De Cuyper will become a problem once Mitoma is back, but seems crazy to sell a player OOP and in good form. He has a tough run of fixtures though, and Forest's schedule looks reasonable.

      Yeah, I’m also considering selling De Cuyper now, probably for Munoz, in order to keep and bench Pedro. After GW8 I won’t won’t De Cuyper probably anyway, and it’s not out of the question he loses mins for gw6 and 7 with their wingers coming back.

      Looking at latest Gyokeres display it’s fair to say that Havertz is first choice and it will stay that way.

      Is he a best use of Arsenal spot though?
      Im not so sure.

      They’re are hardly free scoring and seem to be splitting their returns between them.

          Would definitely prefer 2x defence 1x attack. Arsenal clean sheets will hurt your rank with only 1x defender.

          I think Havertz is first choice but would still rank Saka mostly due to pens, and Odegaard ahead of him.

            Must be team dependent though. Double Arsenal defence for me means no Gvardiol. Gvardiol covers sufficiently to allow me to benefit from the gift that is Martin Ødegaard for only 6.5m.

            Would I gain much from Gvardiol to another Arsenal defender? Not really and it costs more. Can a £6m mid compete with Ode? Not really.
