Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to continue their upward momentum when they host Crystal Palace this evening.

Kick-off in north London is at 17:30 GMT.

TEAM NEWS

Roberto De Zerbi’s side shows just one change from the 2-0 win at Chelsea a week ago.

James Maddison has recovered from injury to make the matchday squad but his manager isn’t risking him from the start again, so his place in the starting line-up is taken by Dominic Solanke.

Pedro Porro has to content himself with bench duty once more.

As for Crystal Palace, their head coach, Pierre Sage, makes two alterations from their last league outing.

Oscar Mingueza is in for Anan Khalaili at right wing-back, while the fit-again Dean Henderson replaces Walter Benitez between the posts.

LINE-UPS

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Kinsky, Gray, van Hecke, van de Ven, Robertson, Fernandes, Tonali, Kudus, Marmoush, Tel, Solanke.

Subs: Dubravka, Senesi, Gallagher, Maddison, Udogie, Kulusevski, Porro, Davies, Williams-Barnett.

Crystal Palace XI: Henderson, Mingueza, Richards, Disasi, Canvot, Mitchell, Wharton, Kamada, McNeil, Yéremy Pino, Mateta.

Subs: Benitez, Lerma, Nketiah, Hughes, Osorio, Khalaili, Doucoure, Guessand, Chilwell.

4th time benching 20+ points this season except the time when I BBed for 7 points. Classic FPL.

Feels like I lose brain cells when I listen to Paulo Merson, Micah Richards, Joe Cole and Clinton Morrison

Surely there are ex professionals out there who can string coherent sentences together and provide insight into the tactical, analytics of the game. I don’t think I’ve heard anything insightful out of any, just cliches and dreadful ‘banter’

I remember listening to Ray Wilkins, Tony Cottee, Clive Allen, Luther Blissett, Frank McClintock, Charlie Nicholas, Rodney Marsh, Paul Elliott etc. Even if some of them were just mid level pundits they were all worth listening to and entertaining at the same time.

Now it’s all safe and friendly but like you say they are all thick and have nothing to add of any value. Darren Bent is another one, Jamie O’Hara, Carlton Cole. Plum dumb the lot of them.

Is this one of those seasons where everyone is benching crazy points or is it just me? 20+ points on the bench 4 times inside the first 10 GWs is crazy.

    1. Djerbil
      1 hour, 53 mins ago

This will happen as the funds are spread across 14-15 decent players with very few premium players.

Generally in previous years you would have a couple of designated 4.5 m bench fodders

Be interesting how the media play it. no doubt they will focus on United losing to Chelsea, but as they are playing so shockingly, I think the headline should be Brighton winning at the Etihad. Be even better if Arsenal lose too.

His foot was low, how could he stretch for that ball any other way. The spurs player is also moving his leg towards the ball when the contact is made. Not like the players was in a standing position and he went in on the Achilles

        1. SM001
          1 hour, 47 mins ago

"how could he stretch for that ball any other way" - The key is don't make the tackle in the first place.

Sounds like you’ve never played football if that’s your take.

The player is running across him, there is zero intent. It’s a yellow of course but the red is harsh in my opinion

The ref on field called it as yellow too by the way. Slow it down it always looks worse

            2. SM001
              1 hour, 40 mins ago

Intent has nothing to do with it. And I played for nearly 20 years as a centre half. I know a thing or two about tackling. When I saw it live I thought a yellow was enough but the replay showed his studs were up and he caught him right on the achilles.

I played circa 20 years centre mid. I think the refs original decision should stand and VAR shouldn’t have intervened

                1. SM001
                  1 hour, 31 mins ago

Would you still feel the same if the ref had given a red straight away and then seen the replay yourself after?

I think the ref on field has the closest view in real time and VAR isn’t supposed to re ref the game unless it’s clear and obvious. I don’t think that’s clear and obvious. I still think it would be harsh had the ref given a straight red because I think the Spurs player is running and leg plants in Matetas way however I wouldn’t be as against it in that scenario.

I played Fifa for 20 years so I know a thing or two. Either red or yellow I think definitely
