The Wear-Tyne takes pride of place in Sunday’s pair of league fixtures, with Newcastle and Sunderland scrapping for points in the bottom half of the table. A win for the Toon would arrest a run of three successive defeats, while the Black Cats have a solitary victory to their name since these fierce rivals last met in Gameweek 17.

Before that, the early kick off sees Burnley’s obliging defence attempt to stifle a red-hot Harry Kane as they entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.

Fresh off a hat trick against Leicester City last Gameweek, Kane will be under strict surveillance from the hosts’ rearguard in what could be a game of goals. Considering that the Lilywhites haven’t earned a single clean sheet in their previous seven matches – and Hugo Lloris is sidelined with a leg injury – out-of-form Burnley marksman Danny Ings will fancy his chances of putting a five-match goal drought to bed.

The tea-time derby clash – hosted at the Stadium of Light – takes on an altogether different complexion from the reverse fixture at St James’ Park in December, with two new managers at the helm. Newcastle are down to the bare bones in defence as a result of long-term injuries and suspensions, meaning there’s only one fit centre-back (Michael Williamson) at the disposal of Magpies boss John Carver. Meanwhile, Sunderland boast a relatively clean bill of health – aside from Wes Brown’s absence with a knee injury – as Jermain Defoe seeks a goal for the first time in seven Gameweeks.

Have over £4.0m in the bank saved to do Austin ---> Costa this week but with Diego out for a few weeks. Who should I bring in? (Austin has CHE then a blank so don't think ill keep)

    Rooney maybe?

Ever since I entered the TOP 20K and took the safe approach of playing the fantasy game,

That is, planning my transfers well in advance, avoiding hits, going with the most popular captain choice etc, things haven't really gone well for me. Each week I somehow managed to hold on to my rank and in weeks when it went even a little bit off, I dropped places, the highlight of which has been this week. Moreover the enjoyment of playing the fantasy game has vanished altogether.

Now sitting at 50K overall, I'm having serious doubts whether I should have continued playing the game in the gutsy way I was playing earlier in the season, taking hits and not thinking about anything beyond 2 weeks, all of which earned me the lofty rank at the first place. Really depressed. Thinking about quitting after my very first season.

No point playing it without enjoyment

Depends how you define enjoyment. For him, enjoyment seems to be doing well in terms of ranking rather taking risks and hoping 1 in 5 pay off.

Don't take any rash decisions. Just take a week off and log back into FPL on Saturday.

This game has a lot of element of luck. When it works, it works. On a positive note, it all comes around eventually though.

haha yeah i guess u always get the players at the wrong time.

anyway nothing should stop you playing in a gutsy way..at the end of the day rank is nothing unless u are 1st..excitement and fun should be the priority.

50k is still a reasonable 1st season, and still plenty of time to improve on that. Chin up, move on. Or quit, whatever. I'm going to have a flake easter egg now. Never fails to deliver.

I don't blame FFS by anyway though.
Without it I would have been probably been clueless altogether.

I think my inclination towards assets from teams with good fixtures has been the culprit. Largely neglecting form in the process.

Ok so my team is in a but of a mess. Would really appreciate some help (Have £4.5m ITB):

    Panty, Foster
    Clyne, Terry, PVA, Rose, Naughton
    Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Mane, Boyd
    Austin, Aguero, Kane

-Do I keep Mane or look at someone like Henderson/Felliani?
-Do I stick with Eriksen or bring in someone like Sterling?
-With Austin playing against CHE then a blank I think I will drop him. but who for? Rooney?
