Double Gameweek 34 Announced for Hull and Liverpool

Hull have this morning confirmed a new date for their home clash against Liverpool, which was previously scheduled for Gameweek 33. The match, which was postponed after the Reds clinched a place in the FA Cup semi-finals last night, will now take place on Tuesday April 28 – meaning both sides will now have a double Gameweek 34.

With Chelsea and Leicester also poised for a double in the same week, Fantasy managers are handed four teams to choose from as they re-assemble their squads.

Liverpool also face a trip to the Hawthorns prior to their KC encounter, though QPR’s hammering of West Brom last weekend suggests few will be deterred from investing in Brendan Rodgers’ main men.

Doubts over Diego Costa’s hamstring injury may have some eyeing up Daniel Sturridge, though the Reds striker has done little to strengthen his case for inclusion – two goals in the last eight Gameweeks, in addition to ongoing hip problems, are hardly convincing. Jordan Henderson has struck four times in the last five league matches and will surely be sought after by many, whilst Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling are also in contention here.

At the back, Martin Skrtel will return from suspension in time for the double, boosting the prospects of a defence that has racked up seven clean sheets in the last 11 Gameweeks.

The Reds then have two very favourable home clashes in three (against QPR and Palace) directly after their double, with a visit to Chelsea sandwiched in between those Anfield encounters.

It’s fair to say that Hull will struggle to justify the investment, though. Granted, Steve Bruce’s side now have four home matches in the final five Gameweeks of the season but one look at the fixtures (cpl & LIV, ARS, BUR, tot, MUN) underlines the tough task at hand – only the visit of Burnley in Gameweek 36 looks promising. Given that they’ve picked up two points in the last five, the Tigers face a tough task ahead, though their spirited display in the 3-2 home defeat by Chelsea in Gameweek 30 suggests it would be unwise to write their main men off completely.

    Sorry for repost:

    Myhill. Jaku.
    Clichy. Jones. Alder. Bellerin. Bruce.
    Hazard. Silva. Sanchez. Siggy. Boyd.
    Aguero. Kane. Austin.

    My DGW plan:

    Jones >> Moreno
    Clichy+ Austin >> Terry + Vardy for -4
    Siggy >> Hendo

But which move shoud i made this week...???

If I don't have WC, should I bring Remy in? He won't feature in DGW I guess and should I buy him it'll be almost impossible to have 3 CHE 3 LIV GW34.

I was very confused myself a while ago, but I think I've figured it out now with the help of others. Anyway, here's a bit of a round up of the double gameweeks so far.

BLANKS IN 33: Sunderland, Arsenal, Liverpool, Hull, QPR and Villa.

DGW TEAMS IN 34: Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool, Hull.

DGW TEAMS IN 37: Arsenal and Sunderland.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

After the blank imo. Just focus on building a GW33 team, then WC and fill it with DGWers.

My dilemma is whether it would be smarter to keep the WC for getting rid of DGW players in GW35.. but to know I can do so much damage in GW34 is so tempting.. especially with so many players in my league at a disadvantage..

        1. Ruth_NZ
          • 9 Years

The DGW players don't need removing in the main. Liverpool and Chelsea have good fixtures. N'Doye has DGW34 and a juicy fixture in GW36, can be benched in GW35 and swapped for Defoe in GW37. Leicester have decent fixtures too and their options are cheap enough to be bench players after the DGW anyway.

Wildcard into GW34 and then just add some Arsenal/Sunderland gradually ready for GW37 I think.

You'll probably find it works easier if you lose Kane though. 😉

This is solid reasoning, and I am prepared to lose Kane sooner rather than later. I have a feeling he will be able to take his foot off the pedal soon, or just burn out. He can't keep his previous performances up forever, and there is little reason to at this point.

losing Kane is entering my head more and more

someone like Kramaric or N'Doye could be a useful short term punt and Kane could easily come back in GW36 for Sturridge/Costa/Remy if needed, then you shift said Hull/Leicester player for Defoe in GW37

    For GW32/33:

    A) Triple Sot'on defense with Alderweireld,Bertrand,Davis

    or

    B) Double Sot'on defense with Alderweireld, Davis and play Dawson

You could well be right. More attacking threat there also.

I'm looking at bringing Clyne in this week for Terry (already got Bertrand) so I can get Remy in my 3rd Chelsea spot. Hopefully a Soton double up with both fullbacks can be a decent differential, unlike double Chelsea defence!

Current backline is Terry, Ivan, Alderweireld Dawson Baird, gk's Panti and Hamer. Want to ship Terry this GW (only £0.4 in th bank) to rearrange for DGW. So Terry -> Bertrand + Panti-> Davis

Hmm, not sure I'd do that tbh.

Davis will be your only playing keeper, so obviously you'll be playing him every week. Baird doesn't play, so that means you have Ivan and three soton defenders. That means most weeks you'll AT LEAST be doubling up, if not tripling up. It's not all that good when you are forced to double up on a defence.

I'd keep Panti and do Terry -> Bertrand. Then look at possibly getting Mignolet in for LFC's DGW for Hamer.

I currently have Ivan, Haz and Moreno.

Thinking of drafting in Sterling for Eriksen and Coutinho for Downing for the DGW.

Thinking of leaving it with just those players. Could get Azpi in for Rose for -4 but don''t think it's worth it as almost certainly going to be rotated with luis.

I was playing with this idea yesterday but now the idea of a Rooney differential has seduced me. So indecisive.

Let me add my problems to the circus. Have been planning for a possible LIV DGW34, so I have kept my transfers rolling and got Ivan, Haz and Schlupp in place already.

    Myhill / Foster
    Ivanovic / Clyne / Schlupp / Dawson / Naughton
    Sanchez / Hazard / Silva / Eriksen / Boyd
    Agüero / Giroud / Kane

    2FT 0.1itb

How do I proceed from here? The only way for me to have 3 Che 3 Liv without hits is by doing either Giroud -> Remy or Sanchez -> Fabregas this GW, and I don't like either moves. Think I'll bring in Davis for Foster now and then do one of the above mentioned transfers when ARS has a blank, thus settleing for 3 Che 2 Liv 1 Lei for a total of 6 DGWers unless I take a hit for a 3rd Liv.

Thoughts? Suggestions? They Are highly welcome!

A hit for Sturridge may be worth it if he hits something worthwhile. Otherwise, 2 Pool is enough

Austin and Lescott -> Remy and Schlupp
    Leaves me with 0.2
    Good moves?

    Panti (Foster)
    Terry Clyne Bellerin Lescott Naughton
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Silva Boyd
    Aguero Kane Austin

    Myhill (Smith)
    Terry PVA Dawson (Williams Pieters)
    Hazard Alexis Ozil Eriksen (Boyd)
    Kane Aguero Sakho

    1. Would you play Williams (EVE) or PVA (CRY)?

    2. Team look decent for this GW? Or am I set for another slide down the ranks?
