As the curtains are drawn on Gameweek 33, Manchester City fight to maintain their grip on a Champions League berth when they play host to West Ham United in the lunchtime kick-off. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur cap off this round of fixtures with the day’s second encounter, with the hosts looking to recover from five straight defeats.

City go head-to-head with the Hammers in an attempt to stave off a run of defeats after setbacks at Palace and neighbours United. Although his efforts eventually proved futile, Sergio Aguero rediscovered his scoring touch at Old Trafford, bagging his fourth brace of the campaign; he sports the FPL armband for many today. Elsewhere, David Silva remains heavily backed, having scored in each of the last three at the Etihad. The Spaniard is part of a five-man midfield today, as Frank Lampard is drafted in to lend his goal threat in support of lone striker Aguero.

Visitors West Ham will hope that fit-again Enner Valencia can compensate for the absence of top scorer Diafra Sakho to improve their output in attack: the Hammers have tallied just four goals in their previous six league outings. Carlton Cole comes in for Sakho today in their only change to the lineup that were held by Stoke last time out.

Later today, Newcastle will pursue a first victory in six attempts when they lock horns with Tottenham at St James’ Park. Their quest to secure three points is hindered by the absence of Moussa Sissoko: he serves a suspension having received a red card against Liverpool on Monday.

Over in the Spurs camp, Harry Kane has drawn blanks in three of the last four Gameweeks but will be favoured against a Toon rearguard that’s shipped an average of two goals per match in their last seven. Christian Eriksen, meanwhile, will aim to snap out of a nine-match goalless run and looks poised for a major exodus next week as we start to reassemble our midfields for the double Gameweek fixtures: he’s already been sold more than any other player in the FPL overnight.

Playing my WC this week, here's my first draft:

    K Davis, Pantilimon
    Skrtel, Koscielny, Terry, Ivanovic, Morgan
    Sterling, Henderson, Hazard, Cambiasso, Ramsey
    Vardy, Benteke, Giroud

    Thoughts?

£1.2 left over, should I do Henderson -> Coutinho?

Thoughts on this dgw WC team:

      Schmeichel (panti)
      Schlupp terry ivanovic skrtel (PVA)
      Hendo sterling hazard cambiasso (Sanchez)
      N'doye aguero (Kane)

10 doubles and kun. Fixtures not too bad into week 35. Sterling and skrtel to Rambo and bellerin/other arsenal defender week 36. Leaves me with 5 doubles week 37 in which I will get Austin for n'doye as qpr will be fighting for relegation and Austin has good fixtures week 37 and 38.

      Sound plan?

I wouldn't disagree about the way that Newcaslte are run.
Ashley is a greedy scumbag. Like an even lower rent Alan Sugar if that's possible.

However, it does really annoy me when you hear a Newcastle fan going on about how super special their club is. How they have the best and most passionate fans and how no one who isn't from the area could ever possibly understand what it means to support such a unique team.

            Shafted by dodgy owners? Yes.
            Special? No.

It frustrates me immensely when people mischaracterise Pardew's time at Newcastle as being super successful, or make the unreasonable assertion that Pardew's short term success at Palace is an indication of the fickleness of a fan base that doesn't deserve anyone better.

          It's simply false.

Don't know why, but all his goals to me seem flukey. Great player and great assist potential but I have no confidence whatsoever that he'll score when he's in my team. Must admit though that those 17 and 14 point hauls destroyed me.

Is it fair to assume that at this point of the season, the bottom dwellers tend to find some form as they are fighting for their lives and the mid table teams just lose motivation?

Has this happened before in seasons past?

It's fair to assume that at least one or a couple of the bottom dwellers find form, but it's not true that all bottom dwellers improve. And neither is it true all teams with nothing to play for turn to crap. So be careful!

Is it worth doing Clyne -> Skrtel for next DGW and then keep it until end?

Otherwise I will not have enough budget to fund 3 Arsenals for their DGW [Sanchez, ramsey/ozil/ Giroud] ?

Or have both Clyne and Skrtel and my trio of Arsenal to be : Ramsey/Ozil/Giroud.
