Recovered from Sunday? Knee perfectly rigid? Wildcard intact? Good. The morning has broken and, unlike the first morning, the FPL Bonus has been dropped into the game, revising our Gameweek three totals.

Here’s a quick glance at how the Bonus appears to pan out with our Gameweek review over on the FPL site to follow later today.

Aston Villa vs Wolves
Berra (3) Ward (3), Agbonlahor, Hennessey, Hunt (1)

One of only two matches where the bonus points were spread. Christophe Berra and Stephen Ward share the maximum with identical EA SPORTS PPI scores on the day. Gabby Agbonlahor was Villa’s top Index earner, sharing a single bonus point with Hennessey and Hunt of Wolves. Shay Given and Stephen Warnock just missed out on joining the party.

Blackburn vs Everton
Baines, Howard (2), Arteta (2)

Food for thought for those who are looking to free up some cash by shipping out Leighton Baines. Clearly, when Everton keep a cleanie, Baines is firmly in the hat for bonus points. He pips team-mates Howard and Arteta here in what was a very fortunate win for David Moyes’ side. Neville and Distin were just outside the bonus awards – Mauro Formica was Blackburn’s leading EA SPORTS PPI candidate.

Chelsea vs Norwich
Lampard, Bosingwa, Holt

No surprises here. Frank Lampard was back amongst the big scorers and, in any other Gameweek, would have attracted more Fantasy headlines. Jose Bosingwa’s renaissance continues with further bonus recognition, while Norwich are represented by skipper Grant Holt who just edges out Ramires to claim a single bonus point. Significantly, Juan Mata put in a strong EA INDEX PPI score (21) in just 34 minutes on the pitch.

Liverpool vs Bolton
Henderson, Skrtel, Adam

The three goalscorers share the bonus – again, perhaps not a major surprise. The absence of Luis Suarez will disappoint plenty however – with no goal or assist to show for his efforts, the Uruguayan’s display was not recognised by a strong EA SPORTS PPI leaving him well short of bonus recognition. A contentious issue and certainly this week’s major talking point when it comes to the bonus awards – would the old system had awarded Suarez bonus? We can only speculate but clearly, without a positive goal/assist contribution in the game, players like Suarez will struggle to overcome team-mates who do contribute goals/assists, on pure performance statistics alone.

Man United vs Arsenal
Young, Rooney, Van Persie

No real surprises here given the avalanche of points hoovered up by Young and Rooney. Robin Van Persie’s bonus over other United candidates will raise a few eyebrows given that he missed a first-half penalty. Clearly his goal and overall contribution was enough to see off Anderson who figured next in the EA SPORTS PPI from this match.

Newcastle vs Fulham
Best, Cabaye, Gutierrez

There can be no such quibbles here. Leon Best’s brace earns him maximum bonus recognition while Cabaye and Gutierrez – two of Newcastle’s most consistent performers so far this season, fetch the remaining supplementary points. Danny Murphy was Fulham’s top scoring EA SPORTS PPI performer on the day, behind a host of Newcastle players who dominated matters statistically.

Swansea vs Sunderland
Taylor, Brown, Rangel

Swansea’s attacking full-backs, so involved in the Brendan Rodgers masterplan, suck up two lots of bonus awards from the 0-0 draw with Sunderland. Interestingly, Taylor is now looks assured of starts following Alan Tate’s bizarre golfing accident. Wes Brown was again the standout performer for the visitors. Michel Vorm again registered a double figure EA SPORTS PPI score as his impressive season continues.

Tottenham vs Man City
Dzeko, Nasri, Kompany

City’s reborn centre-forward dominates, returning a huge EA SPORTS PPI score to claim the maximum bonus award. Samir Nasri’s hat-trick of assists has him placed in second on a fine City debut, while Vincent Kompany is again the top City defender on the index, claiming a single bonus, despite conceding. Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure were next for City in the rankings, with Tottenham’s Younnes Kaboul their only representative in the top ten from this match.

Wigan vs QPR
Di Santo, Rodallega, Boyce

Franco Di Santo’s brace has him well out in front when it comes to bonus awards from Wigan’s 2-0 win over QPR. Hugo Rodallega and Emmerson Boyce join the party in a Latics clean sweep. Shaun Derry was the visitors shining light as Wigan dominated the EA SPORTS PPI rankings here. Adel Taarabt again paying the price for off target efforts in a defeat – despite presenting QPR’s biggest threat on the day.

West Brom vs Stoke
Shawcross, Jones (2), Shotton (2)

A miserable display by the Baggies sees Stoke monopolising the bonus awards and the EA SPORTS PPI rankings. Tony Pulis’ side grabbed the three points with a late goal with Ryan Shawcross taking the defensive plaudits. Kenwyne Jones and goalscorer Ryan Shotton shared 2 bonus points, just edging out Asmir Begovic in the index.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yep, i like. Only word of caution is that half of your outfield team is probably gonna consist of utd and city players. Difficult to avoid that at the moment but they will, inevitably, have a couple of 1-0 weekends and then you might suffer.

i can't see Arsenal tearing anybody apart right now. Arsenal always have the tendency to pick up very slowly after very bad results. I fancy they could scrap a draw or a 1-nil win against swansea.

Strongly tempted to wildcard – my team is an absolute pieces and I’m massively trailing in both mini leagues.

    Currently got a team of:

    Given, Vorm
De Laet, Enrique, Cashley, Kompany, Woodgate
    Silva, Arteta, Sinclair, Taarabt, Moses
    Torres, Aguero, Long

With the wildcard I can get:

    Given, Vorm
De Laet, Enrique, Bosingwa, Kompany, Woodgate
    Silva, Arteta, Mata, Young, Moses
    Dzeko, Suarez, Di Santo

Thoughts? Am I being too kneejerk-y?

    Any help much appreciated.

Cheers for the replies, to be honest I only picked Di Santo because I needed a 5.5 million striker. It was either him or Holt.

With regards to the Arsenal coverage - at the minute, other than RVP and Walcott I see no obvious place to invest. They are severely lacking currently. I would also love to have Rooney but I can't really fit him in?

It depends.. I'm going to keep Rooney for the rest of the season.

Dzeko is so good right now that it's impossible to ignore him. He could be rested for the next game, though. Maybe Balotelli/Tevez will get a chance in the starting 11.

Even if Dzeko gets rested 1 in 3 games (which I still think is more than he will be), his scoring potential up front for that team is so high that 8.5 is a bargain. Get him in now and don't worry if he picks up a small knock or is rested for the Wigan game.

Excellently put. We all are weary of knee jerks, but the risk is worth it considering the potential reward. I'd be more worried not having him. Dzeko and Aguero aren't perfect picks FPL wise, but at least you can get them in for the long term and watch the points flow in, hopefully. I am less worried about having no Arse coverage than one of those two. The only team they really thrashed last season was Blackpool (Wigan also took a battering). That being said, I would get Walcott in if I could shoehorn him in.

Arsenal didn't just have a bad match, they were ripped apart. I would not risk walcott at the moment. Their players were arguing with eachother, and lacked any kind of commitment, they just don't care. Nasri is looking good, i went silva instead personally though; players always perform best on their debuts.

As an Arsenal supporter who watches every game, I'd say don't touch us unless we sign a creative midfielder. Despite Rosicky playing a few good balls yesterday, he is poor and Ramsey's failing to have an impact at the moment. Wilshere's return is not the answer as he lacks creativity too. Our players are too expensive given the lack of penetration from our midfield currently. Don't even get me started on the sheer futility of playing Arshavin...

      I miss Eboue.

If you have him already keep him. But I wouldn't be falling over myself to transfer him in. Of all our players he's the one likely to be involved should we score. However, we've become very predictable to defend against and the poor teams can often do it very well. See Newcastle first game of the season - we barely had a sniff. As I said, I'm reluctant to get Arsenal players unless we bring in some creativity - ideally a winger AND a central midfielder.

As for Gervinho, he will never displace RVP in our team. I'm convinced he's been signed as a winger not a striker and therefore has little use on FPL as he's classed as the latter.

I think the main reason many of us are having a frustrating, if not crappy start, at least relatively speaking (I've had 54,54,56 gameweeks, normally would be happy but this weekend has screwed that!) is that all the research and planning you put in has basically meant very little. The freebie week one wildcard didn't help in that respect but basically any casual football fan with no FPL experience could have come in and done very well.

They would most likely put Rooney in and captain him, then fill out the rest of the attack/midfield with expensive players and only have money left for a cheapo defence. Cheapo defences have since scored well while the big teams seem unable to keep a clean sheet. Now it's the 4th gameweek on the way and it's harder and harder to stick to your guns as these people pull away (my mate's girlfriend is topping my league with 210 points, she's one of those casual Man U fan who couldn't name half the players in any other team types).

The form of pre-season has again meant little with the bargain Moses/Sessegnon/Sinclair types doing nothing and now we're having to swap them in for form players who those who did no research have had from the start. This gameweek will see many wildcards used but it's not going to get us anywhere - that holding out for players to come good has put us at a deficit so we're all going to end up with the same teams but be 50 points behind the leaders - who isn't going to have Rooney/Dzeko/Suarez up front for example?

Crappy FPL season for many of us so far and I can't see it getting much better!! 🙁 We can't fault someone else for choosing a great team but as someone said the other day - it's like bad poker players who win. We put a lot of effort into making good choices but many who are doing very well couldn't really care less! Just venting a bit, it's a marathon not a sprint but those bloody Man U fan clones who've never even been to watch a match have pulled ahead of me and I'm bitter about it :p

I don't agree that a wildcard this gw isn't going to help. I'm happy to accept that the players who have done so well these last 3 gameweeks will go on to have good / great seasons. I also think that we now know some great bargains - Swansea look pretty solid at the back, Wolves look very solid at the back, Newcastle look a decent side, and overall there are some great 4.0 / 4.5 picks picking up points. We also now know how the BPs are going to settle. Add in the impending price rises, and a wildcard now could set you up so nicely for the months ahead.

Ditto. Im similar (174 total) and, although im fairly happy with some players, there are certainly some i could juggle. Couple that with the impending price changes and in particular falls for some, im contemplating WC.

I just have a feeling that as soon as i do i will get injuries/rotation problems and Sess and Sinclair will go on the kind of streak that Ronaldo would have been thrilled with.

However, notice i didnt include the name 'Saha' in that paragraph.

I still hold my wildcard.. But as the transfers are going on, I think I may need it to protect my team value and, as well, get full benefits from the price rise.

The only problem may be not many players will rise to 0.2mil.

Anyway, I think it's not a bad timing for WC.

I got green arrows in the FFS, TotalFPL and Fran leagues, against the "experts" but red arrows in my little local leagues.

Like everybody else, I must try to resist that WC. Too little of the season has gone by to be certain of a pattern and it's more likely to be useful in winter when games get postponed and re-scheduled.

Torres had to go though and gone he has. Dzeko replaced him in a rare moment I was able to get on the site last night. I should have gained out of this deal overnight but didn't.

I've done the wildcard, for now to make sure I'm in line for any price rises but I was pretty happy with my squad - my reluctance to get Man U cover due to fixtures hurt me a lot though so Rooney and possibly Young will now have to feature. Dzeko's sitting at 270%+ ownership with no price rise yet - I guess it's an FPL day off too!

I'm sure my view will change over the next couple of weeks and I'll continue to fiddle - I just can't stand the thought of my Man U fan mates pulling further ahead! Man U may never get that kind of score again but there's that niggling risk - it would take a brave man to stick to a squad of potential that hasn't paid off at this stage I think.

I'm in a very similar situation and so tempted to WC now. A few days before the start I thoroughly checked preseason form, looked for players doing well and midfielders playing upfront...so off you go with the magic trio moses-sess-sinclair! now I don't know if WCing is just knee-jerky at this stage or if those players (not to mention that I have torres, hilario, surman and senderos too) are siply set for a very mediocre season playing for goal-shy teams.
          Stupid fantasy football 🙂

    People,

I don't understand why you would want to sell Kompany. Mancini showed yesterday how he's going to rotate at the back, Kompany is the one he won't change.

I'd really hate it if Kompany has a price drop before GW4.

Yeah, swapping him for Richards with more attacking potential didn't work out well for me! Team restrictions are annoying, I'd have had 5 City players from the start had I been able! 🙂

Yeah, I read lots of comments here along the lines: "Richards is the man to have" and so on.

I think the only good reason to sell Kompany would be to have Dzeko-Silva-Nasri or Dzeko-Aguero-Nasri.

Then again, those are expensive trios compared to i.e. Dzeko-Nasri-Kompany, in my opinion.

Ah, I'm gonna keep Kompany all season anyway - price drop or not.

I had Kompany and Richards to start and would have loved to keep them (also had Bosingwa and A.Cole) but the 3-man rule meant one had to go! I like to keep a strong defence but it's just not paying off so far this year - Cech getting injured probably played a part in Chelsea conceding in their last two games though. I'm hoping rivals with all those Wolves/Newcastle defenders are on the end of a hammering soon! 😀

        Thomas Brolin,

people started to worry about price drops (in this thread).
Kompany's name came up - and I didn't understand the rationale people had for selling him.

It's easier to understand why people want to sell Fantasy Football Scout (and forum sheep) favourites Sinclair, Sessegnon and Moses.

I have them myself. They have played reasonably well, hit the woodwork etc., but the points just haven't come. Considering switching Sessegnon to Jarvis or Henderson.

I've got a very similar team to you. I'd get rid of Torres, but I reckon you've got a solid foundation there. Don't knee jerk - remember United/ Man City's Champo league fixtures mean heavy rotation and all those on the Young/ Dzeko bandwagon's could live to regret it.

I'm 30 points off the leader in my mini league but I'm going to stick with my game plan. No Wild Card until at least GW10.

Could Adam be a better option for Liverpool attacking cover than Suarez? I think he might be more consistent pointwise.

Suarez is brilliant in destroying oppositions defence and creating scoring possibilities, but I'm not sure if that will translate into points. Also, Suarez has a risk to be substituted with Carroll.

I don't think Suarez has a rotation risk as long as he's fit.

Kenny doesn't have any substitution with techniques, agility, and flair like him.

Carroll plays different role and will be employed in certain game plan, but Suarez will be nailed.

Anyway, I think Adam is interesting choice as he's now officially on all set pieces, bar PK, of Liverpool. Suarez sometimes played out wide, as last week, and had less chance to score.. 🙁

      Lol!

I think its obvious to anyone who watched the Liverpool games that that destruction of opposition defences will certainly translate into points.

Swapping Suarez to Adam is similar to swapping Silva to Nasri based on one performance. Knee-jerk, crabby, and I think a bad move.

I have 7/15 players heading for price falls in the not to distant future. Ruddy, Kompany, Senderos, Sinclair, Sessegnon, N'Zogbia, Cahill. Wildcard? Can't help but feel my midfield is left wanting, with:

    Moses - Sinclair - Sessegnon - N'Zogbia - Cahill

Too many punts perhaps? I hate not seeing a title contender in there like a Young, Nasri or Mata type.

Used 1 of my 2 free transfers to do the inevitable Torres > Dzeko, which frees up 2.5m... first time I've traded til the end of the week for a very long time, but had to capitalise on the price rise/fall scenario there. Will probably do N'Zog/Cahill > Nasri/Young after international games.

I think he will be sitting there today thinking of getting out if you had swapped him with a utd player he would of scored 5 or 6. if i was a an arsenal fan i would be worried rvp's turn next summer to leave
