Recovered from Sunday? Knee perfectly rigid? Wildcard intact? Good. The morning has broken and, unlike the first morning, the FPL Bonus has been dropped into the game, revising our Gameweek three totals.

Here’s a quick glance at how the Bonus appears to pan out with our Gameweek review over on the FPL site to follow later today.

Aston Villa vs Wolves
Berra (3) Ward (3), Agbonlahor, Hennessey, Hunt (1)

One of only two matches where the bonus points were spread. Christophe Berra and Stephen Ward share the maximum with identical EA SPORTS PPI scores on the day. Gabby Agbonlahor was Villa’s top Index earner, sharing a single bonus point with Hennessey and Hunt of Wolves. Shay Given and Stephen Warnock just missed out on joining the party.

Blackburn vs Everton
Baines, Howard (2), Arteta (2)

Food for thought for those who are looking to free up some cash by shipping out Leighton Baines. Clearly, when Everton keep a cleanie, Baines is firmly in the hat for bonus points. He pips team-mates Howard and Arteta here in what was a very fortunate win for David Moyes’ side. Neville and Distin were just outside the bonus awards – Mauro Formica was Blackburn’s leading EA SPORTS PPI candidate.

Chelsea vs Norwich
Lampard, Bosingwa, Holt

No surprises here. Frank Lampard was back amongst the big scorers and, in any other Gameweek, would have attracted more Fantasy headlines. Jose Bosingwa’s renaissance continues with further bonus recognition, while Norwich are represented by skipper Grant Holt who just edges out Ramires to claim a single bonus point. Significantly, Juan Mata put in a strong EA INDEX PPI score (21) in just 34 minutes on the pitch.

Liverpool vs Bolton
Henderson, Skrtel, Adam

The three goalscorers share the bonus – again, perhaps not a major surprise. The absence of Luis Suarez will disappoint plenty however – with no goal or assist to show for his efforts, the Uruguayan’s display was not recognised by a strong EA SPORTS PPI leaving him well short of bonus recognition. A contentious issue and certainly this week’s major talking point when it comes to the bonus awards – would the old system had awarded Suarez bonus? We can only speculate but clearly, without a positive goal/assist contribution in the game, players like Suarez will struggle to overcome team-mates who do contribute goals/assists, on pure performance statistics alone.

Man United vs Arsenal
Young, Rooney, Van Persie

No real surprises here given the avalanche of points hoovered up by Young and Rooney. Robin Van Persie’s bonus over other United candidates will raise a few eyebrows given that he missed a first-half penalty. Clearly his goal and overall contribution was enough to see off Anderson who figured next in the EA SPORTS PPI from this match.

Newcastle vs Fulham
Best, Cabaye, Gutierrez

There can be no such quibbles here. Leon Best’s brace earns him maximum bonus recognition while Cabaye and Gutierrez – two of Newcastle’s most consistent performers so far this season, fetch the remaining supplementary points. Danny Murphy was Fulham’s top scoring EA SPORTS PPI performer on the day, behind a host of Newcastle players who dominated matters statistically.

Swansea vs Sunderland
Taylor, Brown, Rangel

Swansea’s attacking full-backs, so involved in the Brendan Rodgers masterplan, suck up two lots of bonus awards from the 0-0 draw with Sunderland. Interestingly, Taylor is now looks assured of starts following Alan Tate’s bizarre golfing accident. Wes Brown was again the standout performer for the visitors. Michel Vorm again registered a double figure EA SPORTS PPI score as his impressive season continues.

Tottenham vs Man City
Dzeko, Nasri, Kompany

City’s reborn centre-forward dominates, returning a huge EA SPORTS PPI score to claim the maximum bonus award. Samir Nasri’s hat-trick of assists has him placed in second on a fine City debut, while Vincent Kompany is again the top City defender on the index, claiming a single bonus, despite conceding. Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure were next for City in the rankings, with Tottenham’s Younnes Kaboul their only representative in the top ten from this match.

Wigan vs QPR
Di Santo, Rodallega, Boyce

Franco Di Santo’s brace has him well out in front when it comes to bonus awards from Wigan’s 2-0 win over QPR. Hugo Rodallega and Emmerson Boyce join the party in a Latics clean sweep. Shaun Derry was the visitors shining light as Wigan dominated the EA SPORTS PPI rankings here. Adel Taarabt again paying the price for off target efforts in a defeat – despite presenting QPR’s biggest threat on the day.

West Brom vs Stoke
Shawcross, Jones (2), Shotton (2)

A miserable display by the Baggies sees Stoke monopolising the bonus awards and the EA SPORTS PPI rankings. Tony Pulis’ side grabbed the three points with a late goal with Ryan Shawcross taking the defensive plaudits. Kenwyne Jones and goalscorer Ryan Shotton shared 2 bonus points, just edging out Asmir Begovic in the index.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Id say yes. He was great value at 6.5m, but 8.5m is just a bit pricey for my liking. would prefer to spend an extra few quid for silva, adam, mata or even walcott (looks like the only arsenal player with a bot of form and at least their fixtures are improving + he'll get moregames this year in the absence of nasri, fabs).

Yeah, that was the season he was useless. At the end of 2007/2008 he was a super cheap differential.

In retrospect I think I have picked too many players based on the prior season.

The Carrick pick was really awful 🙂

The first seasons I played having a heavy/expensive defense was really key. Then it moved to midfield and then to forwards.

My first real FPL team I can remember was from the 06/07 season. My aim was always to load up on big centrebacks who I presumed would head in goals and play cheapies up front.

Money also allowed me to fit in Lampard and Cahill in midfield if I bought some 3,5m players which was the minimum price for defenders and midfielders and keepers back then. I don't remember exactly every player but the core idea was:

      Cech, ??
Gallas, Terry, Ferdinand, Hyypiä, K Toure
      Lampard, Cahill, ??, 3.5m cheapie, 3.5m cheapie
      L Lita, K Doyle, M King

Strangely I've only beaten my rank that season once since then.

I had to sell him pretty soon because he had a bad injury but I clearly remember him getting me 9 points (goal + 3 bonus) before.

I also had Ashley Young in Watford that season for ~5.5 when he racked up a HUGE score against Fulham I think. Over 15 pts I think.

Yes. Failed Goalkeepers, Defenders and Midfielders could all be found at a cutprice 3.2 in the latter parts of seasons if you wanted someone who didn't play but was dirt cheap. Strikers were never cheaper than 4m if I recall correctly.

Blimey. Only a month after joining St. Etienne, Steed Malbranque is about to announce his retirement for personal reasons at the age of 31.

"Une réunion est prévue avec les dirigeants pour négocier une rupture à l’amiable de son contrat de deux ans. Les soucis personnels invoqués par Malbranque semblent très importants, assez pour qu’il prenne une telle décision."

A meeting has been set up with (St. Etienne) management to negotiate a termination by mutual agreement to his two-year contract. The personal concerns invoked by Malbranque seem very important, important enough for him to take such a decision.

So it's not really been announced.

    Upfront I currently have

    Moses Jarvis Brunt Mata Silva
    Dzeko Rooney Suarez

1.9 in the bank. Tempted to upgrade Moses to a decent 6.5 option. Who's the best? Thinking Henderson but I already have Suarez as my Pool cover

If a player is currently around 40% to fall per totalfpl (e.g. Kompany) is it likely that they will drop in price over the 2 weeks before the next deadline?

I've wildcarded and done Kompany->Richards, will get the risers in my team where possible and pick my team for real the night before the deadline (ok maybe the afternoon before the deadline, otherwise the shitty site will lock up and I'll end up with a team full of bandwagons, but you get the idea)

That's pretty much what I'm thinking. If I wildcard I may be able to bring in a few players I don't want at present and sell for a profit. At the same time there are players I want that may drop and players I have that may drop. If I play it right I might be able to make a few hundred £k with the bandwagons and save a few hundred £k with players like Baines dropping as everyone tries to get the expensive Utd/City attacking players in.

Problem is I'm fairly happy with my team at the moment and the WC team on deadline day would only have 3-4 changes from the current side.

FPL closing up (or “updating” for another word) last night basically told me that they want this season to be a level playing field for everyone as much as possible.

They are obviously aware that people know about the price rises now and when they were doing them so by changing the time and “updating”, they can regulate the price rises.

A shame really but there you go

Horse shit imo, sites like totalfpl and crack the code don't know exactly how the price changes work they just work it out as they go along, using the data that's available to everyone from the transfers in/transfers out info that fpl gives everyone

Question about people who have WC how they benefit from price rises e.g.

        Torres today 11.00 > RoonPig 12.0 Million

Then say by Thursday RoonPig gets to 12.2 mill they could change to Hernadez with an extra .1 million from RoonPig rises?

Or will price rises only be added to your side once your WC window closes?

He seems a fairly set figure in the Utd Mid. Cleverley will come under pressure when Fletcher returns, but Fergie seems to have faith in Anderson over Carrick. And at 6.0 could be great value.

WC team. 150 points so far so not the worst start by any means but basically need Dzeko (3 solid games so far) and Rooney/Young in the team. For some reason I started with Young and moved to Nani in the 1st week wild card.

      Ruddy Vorm (Alternate home games)

Boswinga, Heitinga, Simpson, De Laet, Ward (Heitinga to change to another 5.5 def after GW5)

Mata, Young, Silva, Dyer, Moses (1 of Dyer and Moses to play each week)

      Rooney, Dzeko, Suarez

If Arsenal do something in the transfer window and get a few players, Cahill being one of them, then he can fit in for Heitinga in GW 6 as Arsenal have good games ad despite what happened yesterday are not sh$t. Ward, De Laet and Simpson have good home rotations so happy to play one of them each week in addition to my bigger guns.

Well happy and looking like providing there are no injuries I won't be making too many subs. Famous last words I know.
