Eden Hazard is handed some time off as title-winners Chelsea prepare for Sunday’s showdown with Liverpool at the Bridge. Palace receive an injury boost up front, Rolando Aarons steps up his recovery for Newcastle, whilst the FA rescind Michael Duff’s weekend dismissal during Burnley’s loss at West Ham.

Hazard soaks up the rays in midweek jaunt

With the league title wrapped up for Chelsea, Eden Hazard has been given permission to enjoy a midweek break in the sunshine. Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian superstar posted a snap on Instagram of himself relaxing by an undisclosed seafront.

The Scout Says: It would be hard to argue that Hazard hasn’t earned the right to a mini-vacation in light of his authoritative displays in the lead up to Chelsea’s title win. That being said, news of Hazard putting his feet up might worry his 45% ownership and perhaps heighten the notion that Jose Mourinho may be looking to rotate over the final three fixtures. If such a scenario transpires, many may well be convinced to swap him out for Arsenal’s high-priced midfielders ahead of double Gameweek 37 and it’s fair to say that Fantasy interest in the Blues’ team sheet will be eagerly anticipated on Sunday afternoon. On the flip side, considering that the PFA Player of the Year has started every league game thus far, one might propose that some time off will freshen Hazard up for a strong finish as he looks to score for the fourth home match in succession.

Palace pair on verge of return

Crystal Palace strike duo Marouane Chamakh and Fraizer Campbell could both earn some pitch time during the Eagles’ home clash against Manchester United on Saturday as they step up their recoveries from injury.

The Scout Says: Following a four-match spell in which they recorded 11 goals, Palace have drawn blanks in their previous three encounters. Glenn Murray looked a sure-fire starter for the remainder of the campaign after notching three goals and four assists during that streak, yet manager Alan Pardew dropped the English frontman for their visit to Chelsea – instead fielding Yannick Bolasie as the lone striker. The return of Campbell and Chamakh provides further competition for Murray – thus diminishing his Fantasy appeal – as the London club search for a solution to their recent impotence in the final third. Campbell netted in one of his last two starts before suffering a pulled hamstring, which might factor into Pardew’s thinking when he draws up a gameplan for the Red Devils encounter.

Brown eager to help Black Cats beat drop

Wes Brown is edging towards a return to Sunderland’s matchday squad after clocking 45 minutes in the U21s’ 1-0 victory over Everton. In conversation with the club’s official site, the Black Cats centre-back expressed his desire to make a swift recovery:

“It was good to get back in the swing of things. It was a positive 45 minutes and the more players we get back for the remaining four games the better. It is very important because we have some very big games coming up, but it was a very good result on Saturday against Southampton and it is something we can build on. Personally it is just nice to be back playing and I can’t wait to get back out there.”

The Scout Says: Brown is likely to reclaim a starting berth upon his return from injury, which is pertinent to Fantasy managers ahead of Sunderland’s double Gameweek 37 (LEI, ARS). Although a clean sheet against Arsenal looks beyond the Wearsiders’ rearguard – considering only Chelsea have rebuffed the Gunners at the Emirates this term – Dick Advocaat’s men will fancy their chances when they welcome the Foxes to the Stadium of Light. Few will contemplate drafting in Brown (4.3) ahead of the cheaper (4.1) and more attack-minded Patrick van Aanholt (five assists to Brown’s zero), yet the former Manchester United defender’s return could render Aanholt a more enticing option by virtue of their bolstered back line.

Aarons steps up rehabilitation

Rolando Aarons has made significant progress on the comeback trail, playing 45 minutes for Newcastle United’s reserves in a 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers. Conversing with NUFC TV following his run-out, Aarons went on to say:

“It’s no different to how I was at the start of the season. I always love playing for the club. And no matter if there’s three games or 30 games left I will always put my all in it doesn’t bother me.”

The Scout Says: Aarons’ long-awaited return to the Magpies’ set-up could be the catalyst they require to pose a greater attacking threat and snap out of their eight-match losing streak. The Toon winger netted in one of his three cameos before succumbing to injury and boasts 11 goals in 13 reserve appearances – clearly demonstrating his finishing ability. Aarons faces a race to prove his fitness before the end of the season, however, in light of his six-month layoff. Meanwhile, Papiss Cisse served the last match of his suspension on the weekend and could feature during West Brom’s visit to St James’ Park. The Senegalese frontman tallied three goals in four starts before his altercation with Manchester United’s Jonny Evans and will be John Carver’s last roll of the dice as he attempts to stave of relegation.

Duff red rescinded following appeal

Michael Duff’s one-match suspension for denying a goal scoring opportunity against West Ham United has been successfully appealed on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, meaning the Burnley defender is free to start against Hull City on Saturday.

The Scout Says: Eight points adrift and with three fixtures left to see out, Burnley are all but relegated. Little blame can be attributed to Duff and the rest of Clarets’ defensive contingent, however, given that they’ve conceded just ten times in as many outings, despite matching up against the six of the league’s top seven sides during that period. A poverty of goals has been the Lancashire club’s downfall, with their recent record in the final third (one goal in nine) making kind reading for their remaining opponents this season. On that note, managers still in possession of Tigers defenders may well be encouraged to field the budget recruits ahead of higher-priced alternatives, following their back-to-back clean sheets in Gameweek 34.

Just listening to the Scoutcast on Youtube, can't help but think Mark, Jonty and Granville are just playing mind games with each other with regards to DGW37 plans.

I think Granville was definitely. But as I said on the Scoutcast I never listen to his advice anyway - sometimes to my cost - eg Remy being injury prone. 🙂

Perhaps, if he's injured or benched so often that he'll have time to tweak his team.

With all the options, will he ever establish himself as a guaranteed starter? I can't see it personally, especially as they'll probably buy another attacker and will have J-Rod fit again.

From what I've seen of Saints he's been their best attacker by a distance so I should think so. JRod could affect it I guess though you're right. They could also form a great partnership And Pelle might finally be gotten dropped.

Mourinho: "In this moment we breathe, I know that the players now deserve a couple of days without football, but we have to be back with professionalism til the end of the season."

On JT. "Him and Ivanovic have told me they want to play every game in the Premier league this season. So they don't want to belong to the players that i am going to change."

"Obviously I'm going to give a chance to some boys that didn't have many chances during the season, to play."

Hard to say, could be Willian, Cuadrado and Oscar as the attacking midfielders, could play Mikel, Fabregas and Matic with Willian and Cuadrado wide. You are right though, he doesn't have the plethora of attacking options that he did at the start of the season.

Not exactly relevant but not until Arsenal have secured top 3 and even then probs only one game.

I take it you still think he's being eased back and is still first choice right? Got him in your line up for next season already?

I think this is right. Mou said he would "keep the integrity" of the league with strong teams against Liverpool and Sunderland as they have things to fight for.

Makes it easier to ditch in 37 but not sure if i want to miss out on Haz home to Sunderland last game.

If you believe the papers then Gundogan and Hummels may be done sooner rather than later. Just leaves a RB for the immediate future and then depends on the likes of De Gea, RVP, Falcao.

That's what I hope, at least if those deals have real substance (the Gundogan one in particular, but I know Klopp has talked about Hummels going to United as well).

An RB is needed, I agree. Apparently De Gea due to stay, probably a bit of help from Real's toxic atmosphere. Also heart something about them possibly extending Falcao's loan until next January, not sure how reliable that is though. RVP, I've no idea 🙂

I actually think his fitness is starting to pick up a bit, so I'd be okay with it if they renegotiate the pay structure. Can't be paying that much in wages.

£21m for 4 goals? He can stick his fitness where the sun don't shine, his knee is even more likely to blow up again than before

Hence why I want his wages reduced 😉

He's clearly only really recovering still. So I think reduced wages and accepting some time on the bench would be an alright arrangement.

I've heard this Falcao rumour as well and I think RVP will stay. The problem is that I don't think any of our forwards are particularly great, even Rooney is hit and miss these days when played up front. The cost of a top class forward is close to £40-50m though and there aren't many available so I'm not actually sure it's wise to fork that out when we clearly need strengthening in all these other positions as well.

I agree with you an all fronts, it is why I think the Falcao extension could happen, as you say it is tough to find someone. Though I'm quite a fan of Cavani, especially his work rate (whenever I've watched him anyway!) but then he hasn't really played the proper striker role as often at PSG etc.

Is this serious? Surely the Spanish FA are subject to the law as well? Plus the clubs will be getting no income if they don't play and the players won't be paid. Am i missing something.

Very serious. Read through the link, I haven't had time to fully check it all out but my understanding is it is to do with TV rights disputes and how they are distributed.

I did. It is as most is distributed to Madrid and Barca and the Law want everyone to share in the income instead of haggle their own prices. Including lower league and womens game. For once the players don't seem to have control even though they say they will strike! Could change the complete domination of Madrid and Barca (though prob not by a lot).

To be honest, I don't think it was Pool at all. This always happens between certain clubs, United are supposedly going for Depay then some journo writes that he's actually going to Pool. Happened previously when Pool were going for Yarmolenko and then apparently United were all of a sudden interested. Playground stuff.

But this kid is tooo much. He has a bit of everything. Pace, Strength and he is direct.

I was praying Pochers would be able to bring him to my beloved Spurs (we can all hope).

Depay to Liverpool yeah? Same old LFC leaking nonsense to divert attention from poor results and performances. Depay was always going to Man Utd

I'll take your word, of course 🙂

Ah it's a whole different league, I hope he suits it and fits in well but it can be very hit and miss. He does have talent and is young, so that's good at the very least.

Can't see it tbh. Dutch players settle well in the PL and he is quite well built for it as well.

I don't think so, I think he'll be a success. I still think Di Maria will be if he can ever settle, he's clearly world class when on form.

Remember when arsenal were going to sign either hazard or gervinho. That turned out badly 🙁

OK it's decision time. Please enlighten me with your comments!

    A) Silva(considering their home game vs QPR) + Wasilewski + Alexis + Giroud + Koscielny

    B) Ramsey + Morgan + Alexis + Giroud + JT + 1FT (Probably Kane->Wickham/Defoe)

    Many thanks,

    Rusty
