Mondogoal

Mondogoal – GW36 – The £30,000 Championship Countdown

There are still 26 Qualifying spots available in Mondogoal’s £30,000 World Championship as we build up to the big final day prize.

We’ve seen some new names make the list after recent Qualifying contests, with the likes of “gaztafari” and “StayVibin” earning their places in the final day contest with the chance to win the £10,000 top prize.

Meanwhile, seasoned Mondogoal veterans “taj2722” and “Tm370” have recently claimed their eighth and fourth spots in the contest, respectively. Elsewhere, “Doom”, “Bigo1” and “tomp1900” all lead the way with ten entries.

It’s not too late to claim your place – there are 26 slots remaining with another batch up for grabs in this weekend’s contests.

The £30,000 World Championship

How Does it Work?

To get involved, you need to win one of Mondogoal’s £30k qualifying contests. You can enter these for just £2.

How Do I Enter?

Mondogoal are running three more qualifying contests this weekend. You have until 12.35 on Saturday to select your line-up for either the £2, £10 or £50 contests.

If you’re consistent with your picks you may even be able to progress with more than one team – you can have up to ten entries in the Championship final come May.

Don’t forget, you can enter multiple contests with the same Mondogoal line-up with the click of a button.

Having multiple teams will obviously increase your outlay but, with the ability to block out defences, you’ll certainly be increasing your chances of hitting a big score.

Once you’ve created your squad for one contest, go to your list of entries, click on a contest and then click “Enter This Line-up in Other Contests”.

If you’re new to Mondogoal and want the inside skinny, be sure to check out our strategy guide here, and our interview with top Mondogoal manager, ChrisDAFC here.

FF Scout Gameweek 36 Picks

With concerns over Chelsea’s level of motivation and teamsheet, we’ve made the bold decision to overlook their assets and, in particular, Eden Hazard.

Not surprisingly, that liberated plenty of funds to invest elsewhere and we’ve spent the bulk of it up front. Sergio Aguero is a shoo-in, given his current run of form, while Olivier Giroud offers us cover of Arsenal’s vibrant attack ahead of their Monday night meeting with Swansea. Romelu Lukaku is our gamble here – we’ve overlooked Christian Benteke in favour of his Everton compatriot as our differential. Everton have won their last four Goodison match-ups and Lukaku’s lively showing at Villa Park last time out is enough for us to back him against a Sunderland side desperate for victories.

The big spend in attack left us light in the middle of our 3-4-3 setup but, in fairness, the pool of talent looks rather limited this week. We were comfortable shopping in the mid-price bracket, drafting in form guys such as Stoke’s Charlie Adam and Leicester wide man Marc Albrighton. David Silva offers us some heavy-hitter assurance, while Jack Grealish gets the nod to compensate for our decision to overlook Benteke against West Ham.

Clean sheets are hard to call at this stage in the season, so we’ve opted to turn to Grealish’s team-mate, Leonardo Bacuna, to offer us some attacking impetus from Tim Sherwood’s cavalier Villa side. Hector Bellerin and Martin Demichellis were the cheapest assured routes into the Arsenal and City defences, respectively. Similarly, we’ve backed the Everton defence via Tim Howard in nets at just 6.0 million: the Toffees have kept four consecutive home clean sheets going into their meeting with the Black Cats.

A reminder that Everton’s encounter with Sunderland is Saturday’s early kick-off and we’ll be able to tweak our Mondogoal XI’s right up until 12.35.

    Regarding the "which Arsenal assets are best" debate, it's slightly simplistic. It's not simply a case of, say, Giroud or Ramsey outscoring Koscielny, it is heavily dependent on who you will be selling.

    For instance, I will have Sanchez, Ozil and Koscielny. Do I think Koscielny will be one of the 3 highest scorers? Not really, but I will be losing Moreno to get him. To get Ramsey, I would need to lose Silva or Hazard, to get Giroud I would be looking at Kane out for a hit.

    The question is not who will score the most, but who will outscore your current player in that position by the most.

        Just that people, as below, are solely asking who will be the best Arsenal points scorers - I think they're overlooking other key factors.

    Sanchez, Henderson, Hazard, Puncheon
    Benteke, Aguero, Giroud

    Bench: Moreno, Boyd, Baird

    0 FT, 0 ITB

    Should I:
    A) Puncheon -> Albrighton (-4)

    B) Moreno -> PVA (-4)

    C) just play Puncheon/Moreno

    ps: I will probably take a hit anyway next week doing A/B so I can bring in Ospina

      On the face of it Grealish he plays much higher up the pitch and tends to be around the penalty area a lot. He's a punt, but I'd say a slightly better one than Cleverley.

  9. Geordienufc1

    I'd love a hand - struggling this week.

    Schmeichel (Panti)
    Ivan | Terry | Koscielny (Skrtel) (PvA)
    Haz | Sterling | Silva | Hendo (Cambiasso)
    Kun | Kane | Vardy

    2Fts, 1 mil itb.

    My original plan for this week was Ivan -> cheapie, Vardy -> Giroud. However, the unfortunate rise in form of Sanchez, which I had counted on being able to ignore, is making me rethink.

    A) Skrtel + Sterling -> Duff + Sanchez (would leave me w/out a way to Giroud the following week bar a hit)
    B) Ivan + Sterling + Kane -> 3.8 + Sanchez + Benteke (-4)
    C) Skrtel + Kane -> Duff + Giroud (nothing really itb)
    D) Ivan + Vardy -> Duff + Giroud (enough itb next week to buy any arsenal mid bar Sanchez)
    E) Sterling + Hendo -> Sanchez + Cork (wouldn't play him, just a facilitator. Would require a hit for Giroud the following week, or a downgrade of Silva/Haz for an arsenal mid on a free).

    There are countless other options I'm considering, but struggling significantly. Currently liking the look of A and E. Thoughts much appreciated.

      I would ignore Sanchez this week, and just make sure you've got the funds to go Haz > Sanchez next week.

      After doing that, it really frees you up to use your 2FT for other things 🙂

      1. Geordienufc1
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

        An interesting approach I hadn't really considered. Been wondering which out of Sanchez and Giroud was the more favoured option to get in this week, and been leaning towards Sanchez. If I do ignore Sanchez, and don't use my FTs to get Giroud this week, then there's no way I'll be able to get both for next week.

        Then again, for all we know, Coquelin could be Arsenal's top scorer in the DGW. To heck with logic 😛

        Thanks mate 🙂

      Good to go mate. Mmm tough. I think it's probably worth the hit, though the sensible part of me would advise that you wait this week and use the Swansea game as the best measure of which arsenal mids are in the best form, allowing you to draft in Caz, or Ramsey next week should they be more favourable.

    Hi all. Give a fellow fpl lover some advice please.

    I am currently 2place in my mini league and chasing down a bitter rival. They are 45pts ahead, and is beginning to put the brakes on by transferring the same players as me to prevent any damage. I won the league last year from a similar position so I believe I can still do this. Just need some strong advice on what to do with my team next.

    My team now:

    Pantilimon
    Terry Ivanovic Bellerin
    Hazard Ramsey Silva Fellaini
    Aguero Giroud Vardy

    (Heaton, Alderweireld, Cambiasso, PVA) 0.4m itb

    Rival's Team: (he just took -8pt hit to get Silva n Rambo to block me)

    Schemichael
    Okore Koscielny Terry
    Sanchez Hazard Silva Ramsey
    Aguero Vardy Ndoye

    (Given, Henderson, Alderweireld, Bruce)

    So...

    3 game weeks.. 45pts.. What can I do?

    Get in Kane or Benteke in for Vardy for -4pts?

    If so, Kane or Benteke... And who do I take out?

    Ivanovic for someone? Or hazard out? Or Ramsey for Cazorla\Ozil

      Sanchez will almost certainly outscore him but, as I said above, it's not as simple as that. Who will they be replacing? If it's, say, Sanchez in for Silva or Giroud in for N'Doye then it's not just a straight Sanchez v Giroud.

    Myhill (Foster)
    Toby, Bellerin, Skrtel (PVA, Zouma)
    Haz, Silva, Sterling, Henderson (Punch)
    Aguero, Benteke, Kane

    1FT & £2M ITB.

    Is Sterling & Punch -> Sanchez & Albrighton worth a hit? (would then bench Henderson)

      Skrtel-> PvA + Sterling-> Alexis.

      Henderson-> Ars midfielder next week

          That's my bad, didn't read the brackets. Skrtel-> Morgan then?

              Tell me about. In a very similar situation, in fact I just did Skrtel-> Morgan and Cesc-> Sanchez.

              Need to start Sterling & Henderson this weekend 🙁

              Unless I do Sterling->Ozil for a hit...

    So, this is how I am lining up ATM:

    Davis
    Ivanovic | Huth | Duff
    Sanchez (V) | Hazard | Sterling | Coutinho
    Aguero (C) | Giroud | Vardy

    Grealish | Van Aanholt | Moreno

    I have a free transfer and 2.2M burning a hole in my pocket.

    Rank is 518.

    Those on my OUT watchlist are Sterling and Moreno.

    Who should go first?
    Is there anything obvious I a missing, or does Moreno/Sterling --> Koscileny/Cazorla/Ozil look ideal?

    I am actually leaning towards Cazorla for the differential.

    Even if Ramsey is fit to play, i bet Wenger would say 'i don't want to risk him', when really it's just an excuse to give players like Walcott some game time.

    Have enough to get him in place of Haz but nothing in it,

    Want to do it as a FT next wk rather then -4
