Our next members article assessing the previous season takes a look at Sunderland’s campaign, with most of the focus on the impact of new manager, Dick Advocaat.

Following a 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa in March, the Dutchman replaced Gus Poyet at the helm, with his side sitting 17th in the league, just a single point clear of the relegation places. Advocaat guided the Black Cats to a 16th-place finish, after picking up three wins and three draws from their final nine matches, with their survival clinched in Gameweek 37 after a goalless draw at the Emirates. After initially turning down an offer to stay on at the Stadium of Light, the Dutchman signed a one-year deal to remain in the North East.

  If you're not set on Ivan/Kosc, then maybe Cedric/Azpi and use the 2.0 to go Defoe>Sahko and Ritchie>Chadli/Tadic?

  I would wait on Aguero with Rooney/Costa.
  
  Midfield is very light and lacks Arsenal / other heavy hitters.
  
  Your defense will bite you, get a ARS/CHE defender + Cedric and 4.5s to fill it out.

  It comes down to whether you think owning both Hazard and Aguero is worth the downgrades elsewhere. You've only them and maybe Kane who are considered premium, and some other RMTs on here seem to fit in 6 or 7 such players.

  As with Yaya Toure last season, I think Hazard is outsourced of the game somewhat if you want balance everywhere in the team. Unfortunately, 55% of people have still picked him unlike last year with Yaya so it's difficult not to have him. Personally I'm taking the risk to begin with. I'm sure I'll pick up Hazard at some point, but I think Fabregas and Costa combined (plus balance everywhere) is the better option.

    I don't think he's overpriced - at least not by much. i think they got the pricing spot on. Last season I was undecided on Fab v Haz when there was only 1.0M price difference - Now it's 2.5M the decision should really be a lot easier - but it isn't for me.

  Neither are essential . I am going with Azpilicueta because he is cheaper than Ivan and he might pick up bonus points . Courtouis will not make alot of saves so he will probably not pick up bonus points . Ivan offers the greatest attacking threat .

I'm really tempted by punting on Kolarov as I have some decent back up if he doesn't play.

When After is ready silva >> Ki / 5.5, Tekkers/Rooney > Aguero
Similarly Cesc >> Hazard when hazard warms up. Hoping for some casuals to drop Hazard after a slow start so he's a little more affordable. Any comments, much appreciated

On the subject of Sunderland, I've decided to take a punt on Defoe with Leicester and Norwich in his first two and easy games in the first few weeks.

It's freed up some massive budget, so I've done this:

Schmeichel (Butland)

Ivanovic-Mertesacker-Shaw (Turner, Targett)

Hazard(vc)-Sterling-Walcott-Ritchie (Wanyama)

Defoe-Costa(c)-Sakho

2.0 in the bank for Costa to you know who in GW 2. What do you guys think?

  I think even when Costa's Aguero, that's still a very light forward line. I'd want a firmer mid-priced option in there. Most have Sakho as a 3rd, rather than a 2nd striker.
