We continue our members articles looking back at last season with a review of West Brom’s displays under Tony Pulis. The Welshman took the helm after Alan Irvine was sacked – with the Baggies lying 16th in the Premier League on December 30 – and ultimately steered them to a 13th-placed finish, a full nine points clear of the drop zone. We’ll compare the attacking numbers from both managers’ spells in charge, and assess the similarities and differences in the statistics.

Irvine was a surprise appointment ahead of the 2014/15 season, having endured difficult spells in charge at Preston and Sheffield Wednesday. After managing a mere four wins from Albion’s first 19 matches, the Scot was relieved of his duties, with Pulis taking over on January 1, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal. Under the former Stoke and Crystal Palace boss, the Baggies secured seven victories from 18 matches, including wins against Man United and Chelsea in the final months of the season.

    RMT

    Ruddy Butland
    Mert Darmian Azpi Huth Targett
    Wally Fàbregas Sterling Mane Fletcher
    Rooney Giroud Sakho

Giroud is just a placeholder for Kun (GW4). I plan to take out sterling for milner on GW3 and mane\walcott for the best up to 6.0 mid in GW4, in order to free up funds for Giroud => Kun

    Like it?
    Any other strategy for Kun?
Any better placeholder instead of Giroud?

Sorry guys just a quick note on Dawson for WBA and if he is a better shout than Lescott, in my eyes he is.

I watched every baggies game last season, he wasn't just a threat from set pieces (much more so than Lescott) but he actually gets forward a lot and creats a lot of goal scoring opportunities. For me he was the most consistent performer over the whole season and was overlooked for player of the season by many of our own fans. Pulis clearly rates him and loves tall guys in full back positions! He was also evidently used in many phases of play, clearly practiced on the training ground e.g diagonal long balls out of defense hoofed at him and he would challenge shorter left sided full backs for knock downs (creswell in the cup springs to mind). Chester does complicate things but I honestly think Chester will be biding his time for a centre half position as the season begins with McAuley surely in his last season at CB for us, he will be our future centre back alongside Lescott IMO. Lescott is still a great shout but safe, Dawson (if fit) is an awesome differential in my eyes.

    A) Mané Ritchie
    B) Tadic Sterling
    C) Silva Chadli/Hendo/Milner

These are the questions I'm asking myself now. Haz and Ozil are in and staying in, Coquelin is my 5th and two spots are still open. If I can sort this I'm one step closer to finalising my strikers too!

Only way I could Aguero in with 2 FTs is to downgrade Hazard (CRY), Walcott (new) or Sterling (WAT).

Perhaps FFP has finished the days of four top strikers.
        Aguero, Bony, Sterling
        Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson
        Costa, Falcao, Remy
        Giroud, Welbeck, Walcott

Wasn't there a time where City had Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko? United had Rooney, Tevez, Chicarito and Welbeck.

    Here's my team right now:
    GK
    Courtois - Myhill
    DF
    Mertesacker - Morgan - Mings - O'Shea - Targett
    MF
    Hazard - Sterling - Özil - Ritchie - Anya
    FW
    Costa - Rooney - Deeney

And my current dilemmas, with 0.5 ITB are this ones:
    - Myhill to a 4.0 GK
    - Deeney to Adebayor (if deal between Spurs and Villa is completed)

    Thanks!

Just wondering why there aren't more teams going with 3-5-2 set ups. Going off last seasons scores there were 3 forwards that got more than 150 points and there were 10 mids with over 150.

    Biggest decision of the season.

Team name for my work league. Its dailymail so unchangeable after entering.

Considering an old favourite of mine, Mutant Ninja Skrtls, or maybe Nevermind the Kolarovs.

Dont know, and wary of testing in case I get stuck with a tester cause it wasnt long enough! Apparently it didnt warrant an entry into the FAQ's. Must be amateurs.

A if you can afford him. B and C also valid options.

They have poor fixtures but going without City attack is scary. B seems a decent compromise!

Not sure if the big sides suffer when playing each other as far as points are concerned. Do you not think players raise their game against the likes of Chelsea, United, Arsenal etc?

Ordinarily I'd agree. But Mourinho will park 3 triple decker buses. And Pulis will try...

Who would you chose? Regardless to the price!

1: Özil vs Walcott vs Carorla
    2: Sterling vs Silva
    3: Pellè vs Lukaku

    First 3 gameweeks:

    A. Ivan & Deeney
    B. Azpi & Sakho

The issue is I'd have to play Sakho GW1 (ars) rather than Deeney (eve).

    Thanks chaps

Anita as the 4.5 mid, completely crazy? I don't want Wanyama since I want the option to triple Southampton.

Is Mane still the better option ahead of Tadic with the latter on penalties

Yeah his advanced position and goal threat outweighs the amount of penalties Tadic might get.

        a) Mane and Richie
        b) Tadic and Milner (trying to cover pool with tekkers possibly out)
