As we mentioned earlier in the week, this season we’ll be working with a number of weekly Fantasy Football games in a bid to highlight some of the new offerings, whilst bringing you coverage of familiar platforms.

We’ve set up Tom Fenley, the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, to take on these games – arming him with £100 stake money in each.

He’ll be bringing you weekly articles on the games featured that week, tracking his progress as he plays.

The first of these new games will be Premier Punt.

What Is It?

Quite simply, Premier Punt is a Fantasy game that offers weekly and daily tournaments and allows you to play head-to-head or as part of a mini-league.

Not surprisingly, there are cash prizes on offer, with a free-to-play league offering a £100 pot each week.

For the first week of the season, that pot has been bumped up to £200.

Why Should I Play?

Primarily because Premier Punt is a simple step from playing Fantasy Premier League.

The game is one of several to mimic the FPL scoring model, translating it directly to a weekly game platform.

There’s no bonus points factored in but, aside from that, you’ll be able to select a team with the same principles as picking an XI in FPL, albeit with a Wildcard in place each week.

The player prices are set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some thinking to be done each week – you won’t get away with translating your FPL lineup straight into your Punt XI.

Having said that, Tom’s Weekly shop article should help you out on that score and you can select up to three lineups each week to spread your risks and heavy-hitters.

With that in mind and £200 on offer in their free game for Gameweek 1, all you have to do is register to get involved from the off.

There’s more to come from Punt, too.

They’ve new game formats on the way, plus a mobile app, complete with a custom game set-up that makes it easier to play on the move.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

One of those is the free-to-enter Gameweek 1 contest with a prize pot of £200.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Look out for Tom Fenley’s Premier Punt article on Friday where he’ll be talking more about the game and the contests on offer and just how he’s spending his first slice of stake money ahead of Gameweek 1.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hi guys. What do you reckon the Arsenal lineup and formation will be for GW1? Will Ox start? Where will Ramsey play? I reckon Walcott will start as striker over Giroud.

      Cech
      Bellerin - Mert - Kos - Monreal
      Coquelin - Cazorla
      Oxlade - Ozil - Ramsey
      Giroud/Walcott

ADM hardly cemented himself as a star player.

They've sold plenty of very talented players in the pay, no reason they won't survive again.

Still he was basically their only player who offered an attacking option. Other than that it was quite mediocre attacking team.

A lot of that was to do with the system and tactics. He's a very creative player, but I was shocked at how frequently he gave the ball away as well, and I mean simple passes gone astray.

At the end of the day, they did just fine without him, so it's no more a loss than if he was plonked on the bench.

I think Di Maria moved because 1) he never wanted to be at ManU but at PSG, 2) he wasn't disciplined enough for LVG.

By the way, he has always been a possession losing machine. Which is why I'm surprised PSG actually wanted him. Seen that they play extreme possession football. Can't see him suiting there either. He's an excellent player, in a certain way, but not necessarily in the way that these clubs need him to be.

    Rooney | Sakho | Wilson

    Elliot | Coates | Fletcher | Baker

+2.5 in the Bank for Rooney to Aguero

Possibly Sterling & Sakho > Chadli & Benteke at some point in the future (once Aguero's in)

    Look good?

You probably need 3.0 in the bank if you're planning that transfer. Rooney could blank, aguero could score from the bench, and you might miss out with the price changes.

    Butland Sakho Williams Kaboul
    1.5 itb
    What do we think?
Currently I don't want to plan my WC. Honestly I
think GW4 is too soon and I'd much rather
prolong it. Obviously I'd use it if I have a
disastrous start but I understand the value of
    using it closer to December.
Obviously the big missing player is Hazard. I
believe he's not overly important considering the
opening fixtures and short Chelsea pre season.
Will look to get Aguero in pre GW4

      Arsenal Supporter´s Opinion:

Hell to the No. The only way Theo starts is if Ramsey, Ozil or Cazorla do not play on the left and allow Ox to play there.

There is not chance, unless for some reason Wenger thinks pace will allow them to get behind West Ham´s defense...but they would need to play an uncharacteristically high line.

But, traditionally Wenger has started the same team in the first game of the season as his Community Shield line up, barring injuries. And, at the end of the day, they beat Chelsea

You have to look at the Chelsea´s set-up. Wenger does not fear West Ham´s shape/strategy, most importantly, Wenger is ALWAYS fearful (regardless of Carroll´s injury) of West Ham´s set pieces and general aerial link-up proclivity.

This is generally catered for a Theo 60+ minute arrival.

I think he might be the pick of the 4.5 mids

Sherwood has been raving about him, he's played more minutes of pre-season than anyone else and he has set-pieces

Might end up with the odd assist on the bench but an also an decent chance that if he does sub in I might get more than 2 or 3 from him

half tempted to start him over Sakho

            1. Ludo
              • 12 Years

I think Veretout had a reputation as one of the best set piece takers in France, so Westwood's monopoly on corners/free kicks in Delph's absence may have been limited to pre-season. Still could be a decent bet if he's nailed on, doesn't get too many bookings and keeps the assists ticking over though.

Outside of Mangala, I would be apt to go with the illustrious Doosra´s picks.,

If you want an opinion on your team feel free to reply with your team to this! Any thoughts on my team would be appreciated too!

    Panti (Hennessey)
    Azpil Merte Cedric (Huth Oxford)
    Hazard Walcott Depay Mane (Bentaleb)
    Aguero Sakho Ighalo

      Ivan Kolarov Cedric (Huth Oxford)
      Walcott Sterling Ramsey Chadli (Anya)
      Aguero Sakho Pelle

your team looks good to me, I have pretty similar,
I will do Ivan -> Azpi when I will need the money.
I like starting with Kolarov as he just might be on pens if aguero and yaya are out

Really nice team! Obviously the lack of hazard is the difference between our teams, I'd get some united/chelsea cover instead of sterling as you have aguero!

yeah though about fabregas instead of sterling but I dont really believe in this cover talk, I mean I believe Sterling will score higher than fabregas so I pick him. But after Sanchez comes back walcott -> fabregas could happen or try getting Hazard in.

I think I'm getting him. He has to start GW1 with no Grealish or Gil, and that hattrick - absolutely has to. Beautiful rotation with Sakho, massive upside... GW1 has to be the focus though, we're making a long-term team, but this is also a wildcard week, and I think he has a great chance of getting a big score in a potentially open game.

    Hello everyone!

Can you help me with my team?

    Ruddy / Rudd

    Azpilicueta / Cedric / van Aanholt / 4.0 / 4.0

    Walcott / Hazard / Depay / Sterling / Wanyama

    Rooney / Berahino / Pellé

    My main concerns are:
    - I want to have a Sunderland defender but I'm not sure if any of the 4.5 options are absolutely safe choices. But I also think that spending 5 on van Aanholt is kind of a waste with other options like Alderweireld at the same price...

    - Is having Walcott and Depay is too much betting?

    - Isn't Bony an excellent choice for the first couple of GW? I think it is but I don't see anyone talking about it...

    - Is there any forward valued at 6M or less worth having?

    Thank you for your help!
