As we mentioned earlier in the week, this season we’ll be working with a number of weekly Fantasy Football games in a bid to highlight some of the new offerings, whilst bringing you coverage of familiar platforms.

We’ve set up Tom Fenley, the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, to take on these games – arming him with £100 stake money in each.

He’ll be bringing you weekly articles on the games featured that week, tracking his progress as he plays.

The first of these new games will be Premier Punt.

What Is It?

Quite simply, Premier Punt is a Fantasy game that offers weekly and daily tournaments and allows you to play head-to-head or as part of a mini-league.

Not surprisingly, there are cash prizes on offer, with a free-to-play league offering a £100 pot each week.

For the first week of the season, that pot has been bumped up to £200.

Why Should I Play?

Primarily because Premier Punt is a simple step from playing Fantasy Premier League.

The game is one of several to mimic the FPL scoring model, translating it directly to a weekly game platform.

There’s no bonus points factored in but, aside from that, you’ll be able to select a team with the same principles as picking an XI in FPL, albeit with a Wildcard in place each week.

The player prices are set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some thinking to be done each week – you won’t get away with translating your FPL lineup straight into your Punt XI.

Having said that, Tom’s Weekly shop article should help you out on that score and you can select up to three lineups each week to spread your risks and heavy-hitters.

With that in mind and £200 on offer in their free game for Gameweek 1, all you have to do is register to get involved from the off.

There’s more to come from Punt, too.

They’ve new game formats on the way, plus a mobile app, complete with a custom game set-up that makes it easier to play on the move.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

One of those is the free-to-enter Gameweek 1 contest with a prize pot of £200.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Look out for Tom Fenley’s Premier Punt article on Friday where he’ll be talking more about the game and the contests on offer and just how he’s spending his first slice of stake money ahead of Gameweek 1.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Afternoon chaps. Have a question for you. My current defence reads:

    Azpilicueta - Coates - Francis - X - Y.

    Pick one please.
    ---- (A) Mertesacker and Cedric
    ---- (B) Koscielny and Huth

I'm very very tempted by the Saints in all the ares of the pitch tbh Gary. But I'm still deciding whether I can get the best out of my defence by rotating 3 defenders, or sticking with rotating just Cedric and Coates.

Sometimes I think a non playing player is a big no no in FPL.

Folks I'd love some feedback?? Starting GW1 with this:

    Guzan
    Azpi, Mert, Cedric
    Cesc, Walcott, Silva, Coutinho, Sinclair
    Rooney, Pelle

    Subs: Myhill, Bamford, O'Shea, STaylor

    Torn between Sinclair and Bamford.
Walcott may be dodgy after his minutes in charity shield but he's always been part of my plans after nearly winning me my mini league last season.
No Haz is a risk I know but I'm hoping Cesc will provide enough Chelsea cover.

Plan is to do Pelle & Silva -> Kun & 5.5mid for GW3.

Not sure how guaranteed OShea is to play so would suggest changing him. If you are worried about Walcott time, change to Ozil and change Sinclair for Mahrez

      GW 1:

      Schmeichel
      Ivanovic, Koscielny, Francis
      Hazard(c), Cazorla(vc), Chadli, Mahrez
      Agüero, Falcao, C. Wilson

Butland; Ki Sung-Yeung, Prödl, Williams … 0.0 ITB

Kos has a higher chance of getting BAPS over all arsenal defs, plus he's the only one least likely to be rotated. Bellerin wud have a good shout but wont get much BAPS and will most likely rotate heavily with Debuchy.

one new face stands out in particular - Mahrez - i like that bit of flair. I remember first watching him gw1 last season, there was something special about the way he played.

so it looks like no Sakho for you? i'm tossing up him or Gomis for my third spot, struggling to decide, thoughts?

No, but you do have. And a massive amount of them. You would, for example, never have Suarez or Giroud in your team, and is Costa on that list as well? And you have, obviously, big preconceptions about what evidence you observe. There is a lot of evidence available, in fact, that you ignore.

Those aren't preconceptions - and I would and did have Giroud in my team. Sadly, your observational skills are still a little lacking ...

Oh, you've sometime had Giroud? I only recall the million times you told not to have him. What is lacking from my observation, compared to yours, is bias and narrowness of vision.

But I know you will keep your mind. We've had these discussions before, and in fact, I wouldn't want to change your mind. The strategy of choosing the opposite to you has worked wonders for me.

I was hoping for some insight that's all. Your short confident responses imply that you believe you are operating on a different level, I thought I might be able to learn something.

As the only person on the site starting with Aguero & Falcao, I thought it was a conversation worth having.

                      No. Let's see:

"You worried about a complete blank for your front line in GW1? Taking some sort of long term view? Or something else? I don't get it."

Knowing that Aguero has missed the whole pre-season and Falcao may not start, he is asking you are you planning ahead, or do you have some other reasons why you think this is a good choice. He was not saying you couldn't have any other reason, only asking what it is.

Who is the best defender for 5,5? (Already have Kosc, Cedric so Fonte and arse defender for 5,5 is not in evaluation)

Till now I've been tempted with Luke Shaw, considering his great attacking potential. But maybe a bit of my incline towards him is because i'm united fan.

Cresswell maybe a great option; good home-fixtures? Or should I go for Skrtel for instance? Thoughts?
