As we mentioned earlier in the week, this season we’ll be working with a number of weekly Fantasy Football games in a bid to highlight some of the new offerings, whilst bringing you coverage of familiar platforms.

We’ve set up Tom Fenley, the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, to take on these games – arming him with £100 stake money in each.

He’ll be bringing you weekly articles on the games featured that week, tracking his progress as he plays.

The first of these new games will be Premier Punt.

What Is It?

Quite simply, Premier Punt is a Fantasy game that offers weekly and daily tournaments and allows you to play head-to-head or as part of a mini-league.

Not surprisingly, there are cash prizes on offer, with a free-to-play league offering a £100 pot each week.

For the first week of the season, that pot has been bumped up to £200.

Why Should I Play?

Primarily because Premier Punt is a simple step from playing Fantasy Premier League.

The game is one of several to mimic the FPL scoring model, translating it directly to a weekly game platform.

There’s no bonus points factored in but, aside from that, you’ll be able to select a team with the same principles as picking an XI in FPL, albeit with a Wildcard in place each week.

The player prices are set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some thinking to be done each week – you won’t get away with translating your FPL lineup straight into your Punt XI.

Having said that, Tom’s Weekly shop article should help you out on that score and you can select up to three lineups each week to spread your risks and heavy-hitters.

With that in mind and £200 on offer in their free game for Gameweek 1, all you have to do is register to get involved from the off.

There’s more to come from Punt, too.

They’ve new game formats on the way, plus a mobile app, complete with a custom game set-up that makes it easier to play on the move.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

One of those is the free-to-enter Gameweek 1 contest with a prize pot of £200.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Look out for Tom Fenley’s Premier Punt article on Friday where he’ll be talking more about the game and the contests on offer and just how he’s spending his first slice of stake money ahead of Gameweek 1.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is it a good idea to abdicate from 1 forward by buying the cheapest one to spend more money in defender and midfielders and play in 442 or 352?

Anybody else completely stumped as to whether to go for a slightly more rotation friendly team or not?

How does everyone feel about rotating:

    GK's

    DF's

    MF's

    FW's

    ??

Not sure how nailed on he'll be.....few people think this could be his year (charity shield showed his potential) but so much rotation risk at Arsenal, especially when Sanchez is back. If the inevitable happens and Arsenal have some injuries (especially to Walcott) he could get a decent run in the team but it's a gamble, especially with only Wanyamma for cover.

As a Utd fan I am confident this year but not sure on Darmian.....especially if you're taking a bit of a gamble on another debutant in Depay as well. 3 Utd players could be risky.

Are you rotating keepers? Might be able to free up 0.5 by picking a 4m one instead of Butland.

Ok guys what do you think of this?..

AOA active for week 1 and the team looking like this

    Stekelenburg

    Darmian / azi

    Walcott / Ozil / Ritchie / mane / depay

    Rooney / Rodriguez / giroud

Should I swap Giroud for Benteke until GW 4/5 or keep him?

Planning on using my WC at GW 4 or 5 and the AOA now is to hopefully capitalise on a goal full opening day (I know it's a risk but you gotta be in it to win it

    My current team is

    Ruddy / Rudd

    Azpilicueta / Cedric / van Aanholt / 4M / 4M

    Walcott / Hazard / Depay / Sterling / Wanyama

    Rooney / Pellé / Wilson

I still have 1M to spend. What should I do to improve my team?

Cedric to Koscielny.....3 Southampton players is risky
Don't fancy Van Aanholt that much to be honest! Walcott to Ozil / Caz and VA to Clyne?
