Weโ€™re trying a new approach to the ICT articles, focussing on individual teams and tactical decisions in the Gameweek gone by. Saturdayโ€™s game at the Stadium of Light saw three players -Raul Meireles, Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge- all make their first league starts of the season for Chelsea and Nicolas Anelka also played the central role of the front three for the first time this campaign.

The 2-1 win means Chelsea maintain their chase of both Manchester clubs at the top of the table and all four played a significant part in the victory. Hereโ€™s some analysis on their ICT ratings and how each of the quartet fared overall:

Is there anything more annoying in fantasy football than "he might be fit" press conferences on your players that have decent home games? Especially as you are planning on binning the big eared wally next week.

A lot of it about so I apologise, but I'm head to head with former winner Westfield Irons this weekend.
Do I captain Silva, as we both have him and I'll wager he'll captain him too, or do I take a punt and captain Odemwingie?

How about Young as captain?? If he assists Rooney then he won't lose out too much points wise if people have Roo as captain and if Rooney's playing further back towards midfield, he might play more balls over the top for Young to score. What do people think??

Yeah, but Raylor scoring/assisting isn't exactly surprising, such is the quality of his delivery. Bardsley went on a spree of scoring just about all the goals of his entire career in the space of about five weeks.

Well true enough its not quite as bad as the Bardsley thing, in that at least Raylor is decent enough from a deadball. But still, it annoys me.
It would be far more annoying (FPL wise) though if Simpson went on a scoring run ๐Ÿ˜›

Those in the know wouldn't pick? I had a choice of him or Simpson as I wanted a cheap newcastle defender and I got him because he can score the odd free kick.... Had him benched for the one freekick he did score though! I for one welcome the Santon injury, means I don't need to ship him out just yet.....

Not at all, Coleman was OOP and a decent prospect as a winger thus a sensible FPL choice. Raylor is a moribund midfielder doing a poor job as a defender but still managing to score well in FPL.

    re Ward(c)...

Would you have skippered a Wolves striker this weekend??? If not, then why consider a defender who clearly isn't as likely to score as a striker would. Ask oppo defenders, who would you rather mark - a striker or a defender??

Mad quest for an unlikely extra 2pts in my book...

Discussed at length on previous post. No one is saying the same about Baines. With current form I'd fancy Wolves to beat Everton. So, it's an understandable pick, but very risky.

But Baines has a track record of scoring attacking points. Ward does not. Seamus Coleman OOP worked last year as he was scoring attacking points.

As you say though, it is understandable (he's out of position), but very risky...

Next year when there's a pre-season Wiganwagon, I vow to ignore it.

Although Wiganwagon is a great word, so I shall still talk about it.

I got rid of him in gameweek 2 I think. He'll score a screamer now that he's played all the easy teams ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm still not entirely sure how I ended up with him in my team, I've never rated him, and never wanted him. Yet there he is, still in my team.

Ditto. Highly annoying. At least he's out next week with the wildcard.

He'll end up in mine all season, only choosing to score in tricky fixtures. I am confident he will ruin Baines (c) this week.

Do we think Swansea will keep a cleansheet at home? In between doubling up on Swansea defence or Newcastle defence.

I'd definitely sooner double up on Swansea than Newcastle this week. Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if they both concede.

Ye I'm not confident this week, I'd agree that I'd probably prefer Swansea this week.

Doubling up on Swansea against Odemwingie seems a bit risky for my liking, esp. as Toon have a decent chance of keeping a cleanie at Villa. I'd be tempted to hedge my bets and have one of each...

Mmm not sure because of their Home performances. I might wind up taking one from each (prays for a shocking press release about Odemwingie temporarily losing the use of his legs)

I'd go one of each if you can, but don't think either will keep a cleanie.

Might have to do that. Not too confident but Bosingwa is my only other option and I don't want him.

    Hi guys,

who do you think is the best 4.5 Defender over the next 5-6 weeks, I have it done to Brown vs Shorey? Any others? who would you choose?

Current Def: Kompamy; Cole; Hughes; Simpson; Enrique

I prefer Olson to Shorey but not a bad shout. Bramble could be good. Can you stretch to Ward?

The one that rotates with Simpson... which is Brown. Do you people not think about these things?

Right I'm not (c) ing Rooney this weekend, so just put £2 on him to get a hattrick as insurance!

Any thoughts on replacing Bent with the cheaper option of either Adebayor or Odemwingie?

I would if you can use the difference elsewhere. I prefer Odem to Ade on fixtures...

All about a SWP masterclass this week.

His lack of bonus on Monday was indicative of how bobbins the new bonus points system is.
