Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Dont get your panties in a bunch over Walcott dropping in price. If you keep him, it is because you are confident that he will score. And when he does, you will get your 0.1 back.

Newbie question - do price rises continue to occur after the GW deadline but during the GW?

So for example, say Walcott just survives dropping tonight, but people transferred him out anyway during the day tomorrow past the threshold. Would he then drop in price even before playing his game?

FPLstats have underestimated the number of fallers this week and everyone they said would drop in price has. If Wally is reaches 100% he's guaranteed to drop but I think he may drop tonight anyway even if he doesn't because they are using last year's algorithm.

Seriously twisty you can't say defo with Wenger.

What I would say is he has a better chance this week than last which was always the case imo. The problem after last week's result is that Wenger might fear the media spinning it as Wenger admitting he was wrong if he starts wally and especially if wally goes on to kill it. We know how stubborn the professor is

    2. onionbarje
      • 14 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

No but starting doesn't guarantee goals or assists. Also for 9mil the rotation risk is way to high and he doesn't earn enough points

    3. Matt
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 5 months ago

If I sell him, it'd be because of the loss of my route to Aguero, not because of the potential of Walcott scoring big.

I can control 100% that I won't be able to get Aguero the way I wanted if Wally drops, the chance of him outscoring Ayew significantly is much much less than that

I have a suspicion that he won't start against Palace. Interestingly, if Sanchez starts, who else makes way? Does Wenger sacrifice Coq, or one of Cazorla, Ramsey or Ozil? Nervous times as an owner of both Walcott and Ozil. Dropping one for Payet.
