Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Silva & Ibe/Westwood

    Or

    B) Coutinho & Ayew

    Thinking B for GW2 only, A for the season

      B for me...Liverpool & Swansea fixtures are decent for longer than just GW 2. Ibe will be benched & Westwood won't score points..if your other 3 mids are strong & Ibe/Westwood are just sitting on the bench A might be worth it though.

    Who to bench? 😕

    Kolarov (CHE) - PVA (NOR) - Bellerin (cry) - Targett (EVE)

    Currently benching Targett as I think the others have more attacking potential but I know nothing about Targett so does he have attacking potential?

    Ive got stekelenburger in goals. Would you double up on With him and Cedric or would you go alderweireld? Deciding between them two.

    Only care about overall score. So which 5.0 defender will score more over time?

    1. januzki

      I'd go Alderweireld. Both have decent fixtures, but not sure I want to double up on SOU defence. Not sure they are the same as last year at the back now that Forster is injured and Alderweireld & Clyne are gone.

    Trying to plan ahead for Aguero...

    This week Hazard -> Payet
    GW3 Ox-> 7.0 (Shaqiri/Ayew/Chadli)
    GW4 Rooney -> Aguero (C) vs Watford

      Yes. It's going to be so tight whichever way it goes. It might be just a couple of hundred owners or sellers that will make the difference.

    I'm disappointed so many here lack a bit of backbone and conviction. Don't worry about price, make the correct footballing decisions. Most aren't even thinking about the best replacement for Theo, its just sell at all costs and not worry about the consequences of a 1GW decision.

      It is all rather reminiscent of how Hitler took control of Germany in the 1930s

        It really is. People change their convictions because of a massive wave of opinion as a result of losing 0.1. These people will struggle in future if a price drop affects them that much.

      very well put. Wally gets this week, irrespective of a potential .1 loss. Hoping for a hatty.
