Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Saw on SSN that Silva has been awarded the goal from Monday night, will FPL change it too or what are the rules in this case?

Think any changes to point scoring has to be decided up to an hour after the game.

        Something like that isn't it?

"For the avoidance of doubt, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have all been updated on that day, no further adjustments to points will be made."

If I don't transfer Walcott out before the price drop then my plans to get Aguero in for GW4 are left in tatters... Anyone else in a similar scenario?

I was originally planning to get rid of Theo after tomorrow's deadline for Ayew and Hazard for Sanchez using up my 2 FT and freeing up the 2.5 to do Rooney > Aguero for GW4.

The more that I dwell on the decision the closer I'm coming to getting rid. Am I right in thinking the decision I have to make is whether Theo's return from this one game (possibly the to be benched vs Liverpool) will have to outscore Ayew's two decent fixtures of (NEW, sun) and the possible point returns from Aguero in week 4 onwards.

    My head hurts.

Walcott is a transfer waiting to happen because he's a big selection risk. It's only a matter of when isn't it?

If your preferred replacement has an ace fixture this week and next whilst Walcott is not guaranteed to start and will also almost certainly drop in price, what is there to wait for? Especially if your route to Aguero is dependent on it.

I think you could be right, thinking of possibly benching ivanovic to bring Mertesacker off the bench

Yeah try that. But Chelsea will play ultra defensive, that much is certain.

Ayew scored points last week so is now a must have.

Ayew looked good last week against the champions and Shaqiri hasn't played a game yet, is the more likely reason

Scored a goal against Chelsea, must be fancied to be capable of something against Newcastle.

It's a sign. Hero by Nickleback.

Oh God, how the hell I can decide one of Mane, Payet and Tadic as Hazards replacement. I wasn't so happy to start with him, and now I think he isn't worth his price right now, but will get him at some part soon. Can you, guys, help me?

Mane - most explosive and I think he will score the most points. But I also want to get Gomis soon, and it will be hard because I'll have to downgrade Sterling to Yaya and Yaya will probably rise before that.

Tadic - my rival has got him. Can't rely only on assists, but he could also be good. And he is Serb. 😀

Payet - I have some feeling that they will dissapoint everyone in next GW. New coach and I don't think they can play good constantly. Still, he is on set pieces and another good option.

Try Payet if you don't have Sakho.
