Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hazard and Deeney to Payet and Gomis for -4 - yes or no?

      no

Agreed. Gomis and Payet are nice options but Hazard is a properly premium player.

Find another way to get Payet and/or Gomis in is my advice

Almost impossible. Can do Depay to Payet now and then Rooney and Deeney to Kun and Gomis next week. But I want Gomis for this GW.

Its your team, if you really want him go ahead.

No other ways to find funds for Deeney to Gomis without losing Hazard?

                Horrible. Always the case.

I think you can hold off on getting Gomis but if you think it's worth dumping Hazard then I suggest you go for it.

Any 5.0 / 4.5m defenders or 4.5m bench goalie you can downgrade to find cash? I'd look at every option to avoid dumping Hazard for a hit. It's the move that's asking for another hit to fit him back in my opinion

Ok I'm keeping Walcott and think we should all spare a thought for us Bees fans that can't catch a break and of course the player Belljend (record signing) who is now out for the season with a knee injury and will miss the Euros. Gutted for him.
This has taken over my Walcott worries until tomorrow at least.

      Feel for you .

Big signing getting long term injury is a nightmare

Brentford have done really well lately. Hopefully Lewis MacLeod gets fit and you help him reach his potential. Gutted he had to be sold last season.

My team, Rangers recently got your ex manager and so far he has thoroughly impressed me.

Yep and McEachran the Chelsea lad injured in preseason and Moses off and I get stressed with Walcott, I feel for the Brentford management.

You will do well with Warburton and Weir. He's a top manager and gent, just signed a couple of Spurs youngsters haven't they?

        1. Tex

Yes. I've never seen them play besides YouTube clips of skills, but having watched Scottish football they should do well.

So far he's doing the business of getting results, playing improved football and getting fans excited about the games again (it's been a while since the stuff on the pitch was more important than off it)
Good luck to Brentford for season ahead.

There's no chance Payet rises tonight, right? I know early season algorithms are not reliable, but he seems far away from a price rise.

Weeks 8-14, Man City have 5 homes in 7.
Which means Man Utd must have 2 in 7.

Never seen that before. Seen 4 in 6, but never 5 in 7.
Thats maybe a time to be doubling up on City.

      Benching Cedric and Ivan?

Chelsea may well just lock up fortress mode and against the odds get a cleanie and Ivan is always a goal threat..
Cedric has an easy fixture assuming he plays if not a sub will come on.
