As we’ve discussed previously, our approach to the weekly games is slightly different this year. Armed with an opening pot of £100 for each game, I’ve been tasked with turning that cash into profit and will be updating you on my progress every Friday.

Gameweek 2 was a rewarding week for strikers in PlayON, with four forwards scoring over 2000 points – with Romelu Lukaku leading the way on 2945 points. Only Riyad Mahrez scored similar, with 2360 points from midfield emphasising the importance of getting those front two spots filled with the right players each week.

Christian Benteke also notched over 2000 points but, along with Lukaku, has a tougher fixture this week as they face Arsenal and Manchester City respectively. Sergio Aguero and Stoke’s Mame Diouf were the other two big scorers last weekend and could be the ones to back again ahead of trips to Everton and Norwich respectively.

For the upcoming weekend, as mentioned in the Weekly Shop article I’m predominantly including Manchester United, West Ham and Crystal Palace assets further back in the teams with various combinations from those defences that look to have a potential clean sheet coming up. In midfield I’ve picked the likes of Juan Mata, Dimitri Payet and Yohan Cabaye, all of whom could build on decent PlayON scores last week.

The Bottom Line

A second week without results in PlayON, managing only mid-table finishes in the free entry and the £1.10 contests. I did at least win something, a wonderful £0.05 arriving back in the pot from a 28th place finish out of the 819 entries for the Monday Night freeroll.

Gameweek 1 Stake – £3.10
Winnings – £0.05
Current Pot – £82.90

This Week’s Stake

After an unfavourable start to the season, I’m focusing on low fee contests and free games as I work to build my pot back up.

Weekly – I’ve entered the maximum possible five teams for the £100 freeroll pot, which covers all ten of the rounds fixtures. I’ve also entered two teams for £1.10 apiece into the £100 guaranteed game and taken up a challenge against OptaJoe for another £1.10. I will also check near the deadline if there are any £0.27 and £0.55 games near to being filled and if so put a few teams into those.

Daily – Five entries go into each of the £25 free pot games that are available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Total Stake: £3.30
As a PlayON Pro it’s possible for you to challenge me one-on-one in all four timeframes, these games are not included in the £100 challenge and operate separately. You can also take on other PlayON Pros, current FPL champion Simon March and OptaJoe.

Get Sanchez in for Hazard now.

Don't think Montero is a good option FPL wise either.

Lovren not a good pick at the back.

I think Montero might be good this year.
1 goal 8 assists last year despite only playing 1577 mins due to Hamstring injury.

Think he could get a lot of assists this year.

Lateriser. On my uber defence (from gw1 this has been)

    Ruddy/butland
    Richards Ogbonna Coates Mings Prodl

Was planned for gw8 wc and rotates well to ensure i could have last years top 7 cover in attack and never be required to have a defender face my own attack.

Bit of an experiment. Im also going agueroless till gw7 at least as i think his good fixtures fall when theres plenty of captain choices and budget for captain choices better used other places

Settled on this wildcard for now. Need your opinion folks.

    Myhill Mccarthy
    Kolarov Gomez Richards Francis Prodl
    Silva Sanchez Depay Mahrez Westwood
    Kun Pelle Gomis

Reason i am going with Pelle over Sakho and not upgrading that defence is i will want Kane/Tekkers soon and like Pelle's immediate fixtures.

As for that Uber defence would Muniesa or Huth go over any of these?

    Sunderland conspiracy

Di Canio tried to completely change the attitude and apathetic culture of the club by getting them to take their job seriously. The players got sick of this after a while and started playing badly so that the manager could be sacked. Now they can go back to playing like they don't care.

            correction its players like this
really unfair on the loyal fans to have be stuck with these type of players every year

I use the term club as a specific way to refer to the players and the whole management structure. I certainly wouldn't want to include the fans with this brush. They are the victims here.

Yes. And fans in the NE are as loyal as they come.

At Chelsea 25% of the ground is composed of people who come to have a moan.

At Arsenal it's 50/50 and there has to be segregation between the pro-Wenger and anti-Wenger factions.

And at Spurs if you're not moaning they know you're an away fan. 🙂

Sounds about right, a few people have said that the players aren't exactly 100% professional, Cattermole's words after the weekend were hinting along the same lines saying that players weren't fighting for each other.

I think they need to be relegated, they'll come back up and appreciate it more 😛

Yes. But they wouldn't express it in those terms.

People that don't want change always attack the agent of change and disregard the reason for it.

They would first become recalcitrant about the new demands and blame perceived dictatorial behavour. They would then sulk. It would then become acceptable among the players that everything (including bad performances) was Di Canio's fault. That would get him sacked.

The conspiracy would have used the standard lesser human mechanism of doing everything at semi-conscious level where it can be plausibly denied (even to self and with outrage if need be) even though it is true.

As there currently is at Chelsea. But fortunately Mourinho is strong enough to force it into the open, ugly as that process looks from the outside.

The Carneiro incident, the JT hook, the dropping of one or two undroppable players this weekend (I think that will happen) - all part of him shaking the club and particularly the board out of the complacency it had fallen into.

Yes, also true. Mourinho wanted to give them a long break in the summer and it has backfired. Maybe it sent out the wrong signal.

Swansea started pre-season a week earlier than most, Chelsea a week later. So Swansea were 2 weeks ahead in preparation and readiness when GW1 arrived. Recipe for disaster.

No but a lot of teams make that mistake. United failed to strengthen 2013/14 and went from 1st to 6th. City failed to strengthen in any significant way last season and went from 1st to a well-beaten 2nd. Chelsea are on track for the same unless Mourinho can get the board to see that there is an absolute necessity to face.

I think the message is now getting through now though. There was a big blow up over Eva Carneiro which involved Abramovich and I think Jose used that to get him to see what the case is. Now there's a different urgency starting to come from the board, Pedro done and I suspect Pogba is now a very serious possibility.

I think none of the strikers really inspire you, which if I were a mid in the side, would effect me.

    Please rate my team:

    GK: Myhill
    DEF: Kompany, Darmian, Richards
MID: Toure, Sanchez (C), Depay, Hoolahan
    ATT: Aguero, Diouf, Gomis

Bench: Boruc, Albrighton (1), Muniesa (2), Gomez (3)

    Right captain choice?

    Have a question regarding members tables;

When comparing ticked players and sorting by particular columns, does it mean anything in particular when a player is highlighted green?

Seems to change when sorting by each column, but I can't see a reason for it

White and green just alternates for the original way the players are sorted.
So when you sort the columns it changes order.
