As we’ve discussed previously, our approach to the weekly games is slightly different this year. Armed with an opening pot of £100 for each game, I’ve been tasked with turning that cash into profit and will be updating you on my progress every Friday.

Gameweek 2 was a rewarding week for strikers in PlayON, with four forwards scoring over 2000 points – with Romelu Lukaku leading the way on 2945 points. Only Riyad Mahrez scored similar, with 2360 points from midfield emphasising the importance of getting those front two spots filled with the right players each week.

Christian Benteke also notched over 2000 points but, along with Lukaku, has a tougher fixture this week as they face Arsenal and Manchester City respectively. Sergio Aguero and Stoke’s Mame Diouf were the other two big scorers last weekend and could be the ones to back again ahead of trips to Everton and Norwich respectively.

For the upcoming weekend, as mentioned in the Weekly Shop article I’m predominantly including Manchester United, West Ham and Crystal Palace assets further back in the teams with various combinations from those defences that look to have a potential clean sheet coming up. In midfield I’ve picked the likes of Juan Mata, Dimitri Payet and Yohan Cabaye, all of whom could build on decent PlayON scores last week.

The Bottom Line

A second week without results in PlayON, managing only mid-table finishes in the free entry and the £1.10 contests. I did at least win something, a wonderful £0.05 arriving back in the pot from a 28th place finish out of the 819 entries for the Monday Night freeroll.

Gameweek 1 Stake – £3.10
Winnings – £0.05
Current Pot – £82.90

This Week’s Stake

After an unfavourable start to the season, I’m focusing on low fee contests and free games as I work to build my pot back up.

Weekly – I’ve entered the maximum possible five teams for the £100 freeroll pot, which covers all ten of the rounds fixtures. I’ve also entered two teams for £1.10 apiece into the £100 guaranteed game and taken up a challenge against OptaJoe for another £1.10. I will also check near the deadline if there are any £0.27 and £0.55 games near to being filled and if so put a few teams into those.

Daily – Five entries go into each of the £25 free pot games that are available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Total Stake: £3.30
As a PlayON Pro it’s possible for you to challenge me one-on-one in all four timeframes, these games are not included in the £100 challenge and operate separately. You can also take on other PlayON Pros, current FPL champion Simon March and OptaJoe.

No pre season plus a knee injury, could be easily longer than a month.

No worse than Kolarov losing his place down the line but is 0.5 cheaper which would mean Payet over Ayew.

Pelle has also shown that he will pick the player in form. If Sagna is playing well upon Zabas return then he will remain first choice.

Probably a question for Doosra - With Zarate out, is it looking more like a 4-2-3-1 formation or do you think Bilic will stick to a 2-striker formation?

Just thinking if I can get away with having Payet and playing Sakho upfront

If Mane drops I hope Ritchie does too, my plan has been to get him in from GW4, great fixtures and looked very dangerous vs Liverpool. On all set pieces and I think B'mouth will get going soon!

    Next week:

    Rooney -> Aguero
    Ozil -> Sanchez
    Mane -> Ritchie

save transfer this week, so only a -4. sound ok?

    RM WC Team

    Romero (McCarthy)
    Gomez Williams Kolarov (Richards,Muniessa)
    Sanchez Hazard Yaya Mahrez (Westwood)
    Aguero Gomis Wilson

Should I upgrade Kolarov to Kompany for security of starts at the cost of Wilson>Kone and Richards>Targett and have a weaker bench?

United could well have another keeper by the end of the window if De Gea leaves (or even stays!)

          I would go for two 4.5m gks instead of a 5.0 and a 4.0.

          Ruddy / Myhill / Schmeichel ?

Do we know the long term likely lineup of the Citeh defence?

Need to ship Ivanovic out for the best value nailed on Citeh defender. Some great fixtures coming up. As far as I can see Kompany is the only one nailed. I don't want to get him as he has risen and I will be left with uneven money in the Bank (something I avoid rightly or wrongly - limits my options too much).

I currently have Shaw, Gomez, Richards, Cedric and Ivanovic.

Otamendi not going to get in sooner than that?

Was thinking Sagna or Mangala as reckon Kolarov will be under pressure from Clichy very shortly. But if Otamendi gets in, cat amongst the pigeons time.

      why would you do that

Sagna is nailed but has very little attacking threat, especially when compared to Kolarov

Unless on a wc and in dire need of funds there's no logic in that move IMO

        I'm on a wc now 😀

Kolarov was the cheapest way into City defence but with rotation risk, while Sagna is 0.5 cheaper and nailed on atm

    Afternoon,

I need some help with my team.
I was away for a week either side of the opening weekend so didn't have a chance to hone my team and I'm already slipping off the pace.

    Pantilimon (Krul)
    Cedric, Azpil, Mertesacker (Morgan, Mings)
    schneidrlin, Hazard, Sterling, Ozil (Colback)
    Rooney, Benteke (Wilson)

I'm planning on using my wc after GW4 but need to make the most of the next two gameweeks. I've got 2 free transfers and ideally want to get Aguero in for GW4.

I'm toying with the idea of swapping out Sterling, Ozil and Benteke for Mane, Aguero and Albrighton and taking a 4 point hit.

Any one got any better suggestions?

Is Mahrez going to keep scoring though? Especially against Spurs?

Cedric to Sagna worth a hit?

My defence is awful, Cedric and Coates may be dropped, Francis is against WHU, my other 2 are Martin and Azpi.

      1) do you have 3 playing defenders - yes
      2) is it a DGW - no
      3) is it a transfer to raise funds - no

      Not worth a hit

How could that be worth a hit? Cedric has more likelihood of a clean sheet this weekend than Sagna!

    6. BlzE_94
      • 11 Years

No way, Cedric can easily keep a cs against watford, and everton could easily score against city. To take a hit as well is silly because you're not really gaining any points.

The worry is Sagna being dropped at some point for Zabeleta, although for the short term at least eh does look a good option. Everton have caused them problems in the past though.
