As we’ve discussed previously, our approach to the weekly games is slightly different this year. Armed with an opening pot of £100 for each game, I’ve been tasked with turning that cash into profit and will be updating you on my progress every Friday.

Gameweek 2 was a rewarding week for strikers in PlayON, with four forwards scoring over 2000 points – with Romelu Lukaku leading the way on 2945 points. Only Riyad Mahrez scored similar, with 2360 points from midfield emphasising the importance of getting those front two spots filled with the right players each week.

Christian Benteke also notched over 2000 points but, along with Lukaku, has a tougher fixture this week as they face Arsenal and Manchester City respectively. Sergio Aguero and Stoke’s Mame Diouf were the other two big scorers last weekend and could be the ones to back again ahead of trips to Everton and Norwich respectively.

For the upcoming weekend, as mentioned in the Weekly Shop article I’m predominantly including Manchester United, West Ham and Crystal Palace assets further back in the teams with various combinations from those defences that look to have a potential clean sheet coming up. In midfield I’ve picked the likes of Juan Mata, Dimitri Payet and Yohan Cabaye, all of whom could build on decent PlayON scores last week.

The Bottom Line

A second week without results in PlayON, managing only mid-table finishes in the free entry and the £1.10 contests. I did at least win something, a wonderful £0.05 arriving back in the pot from a 28th place finish out of the 819 entries for the Monday Night freeroll.

Gameweek 1 Stake – £3.10
Winnings – £0.05
Current Pot – £82.90

This Week’s Stake

After an unfavourable start to the season, I’m focusing on low fee contests and free games as I work to build my pot back up.

Weekly – I’ve entered the maximum possible five teams for the £100 freeroll pot, which covers all ten of the rounds fixtures. I’ve also entered two teams for £1.10 apiece into the £100 guaranteed game and taken up a challenge against OptaJoe for another £1.10. I will also check near the deadline if there are any £0.27 and £0.55 games near to being filled and if so put a few teams into those.

Daily – Five entries go into each of the £25 free pot games that are available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Total Stake: £3.30
As a PlayON Pro it’s possible for you to challenge me one-on-one in all four timeframes, these games are not included in the £100 challenge and operate separately. You can also take on other PlayON Pros, current FPL champion Simon March and OptaJoe.

    I find it amusing how many awful (in my opinion) RMWCT's there are on these boards over the last few days.

    What % of FFS wildcarded this week? I'm interested if its going to quieten down next week.

        I gave you my thoughts, your team will be ok. Seen a few with Deeney and Wilson as if thats in anyway wise.

    O Shea and Coates partnership is stronger than a covalent bond. Ayew, Gomis and Montero are about to be shut down

    Memphis or Ayew this week? On WC, have Gomis for Swansea and no MUN attacking cover.

    Looking at Ramsey's stats, an argument can be made that he has been unlucky not to have had any returns so far. Its not like he is not involved in the attacking play. He is still a good pick imo.

    Just found out this Zabaleta news, obviously this makes Sagna a great chance to bring in a city defender but does anyone threaten his position?

    Had a gander at the ownership %, the current FPL template team:

    Cech (30.8%)

    Clyne (40.2%)
    Kompany (26.1%)
    Ivanovic (25.8%)
    Jagielka (21%)

    Hazard (46.6%)
    Depay (26.1%)
    Coutinho (19.7%)

    Benteke (40.6%)
    Rooney (33.6%)
    Kane (31.5%)

    - - - - - - - - - - Cech;
    Ivanovic, Kompany, Jagielka, Clyne;
    Hazard, Rooney, Coutinho, Depay;
    - - - - - - Benteke, Kane.

    Not a bad team in real life (Rooney in defensive mid of course! :P)

    What's the general consensus regarding keepers?

    I have always stuck with a top keeper which takes away the pain of choosing the wrong one and crying into my pint after the last game of the week looking at the dream team with my benched keeper waving from the top of it !

    However, on a wc and debating the idea of 2 cheapies (1 being McCarthy) so to enable funds to be freed up for the front end of the team.

    Who would everyone go for out of this lot and if you have the patience why you would?

    A) Schmeichel
    B) Butland
    C) Myhill
    D) Krul
    E) Ruddy
    F) Boruc

      mert azpi cedric (francis, saylor)
      hazard(C) mane(VC) sterling cabaye (Wanyama)
      rooney benteke wilson

      any changes, I want to bring in aguero next week. Feel everton will surprise a few.
      I have 1 Free transfer

    Guzan (Ruddy)
    Ivanovic Janmaat and Bellerin
    Silva Payet Redmond and Yaya
    Okazaki Aguero and Berahino
    Bench : Senderos Cabaye and Fuchs
    Is this team good enough or do I have to use my Wildcard?
