Aleksandar Kolarov opens his account for the season as City see off Everton at Goodison. Pedro and Diego Costa both grab a goal and assist apiece as Chelsea squeeze past West Brom at the Hawthorns. James Morrison nets twice for the defeated Baggies, whilst Watford and Southampton play out a goalless draw at Vicarage Road.

Pedro Off the Mark

Chelsea’s ten men held off West Brom’s late barrage of attacks to secure their first win of the campaign. Handed a role on the right flank, the former Barcelona winger Pedro (9.5) made an instant impression on his debut, grabbing a goal, an assist and maximum bonus points to underline his potential as a premium priced midfield option. With Oscar still sidelined through injury, it remains to be seen where the likes of Willian fits into Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans after the latter was fielded in the central support role at the Hawthorns.

Eden Hazard scored his first points of the new campaign, serving up an assist in the first half. That being said, the Belgium international recorded just one (wayward) attempt at goal and has fashioned only three shots across his trio of appearances. In light of Hazard’s hefty 11.5 price tag, his 44% ownership will be demanding a much more potent goal threat in the coming weeks, particularly when the similarly priced Alexis Sanchez is firing off all cylinders and City are preparing for a superb run of fixtures. Indeed, Hazard has been subject to over 42,000 sales over the weekend, more than any midfielder.

Diego Costa (11.0) – who’s currently sat at a modest 10% ownership – reaffirmed his capacity to deliver strong Fantasy returns with a ten-point haul (goal, assist and one bonus point). The marquee forward could well evolve into an essential pick when the champions hit top form, yet most Sergio Aguero owners will struggle to accommodate the pair in their three-man strike force.

Thibaut Courtois compensated for Chelsea’s absence of a clean sheet by claiming five points for saving James Morrison’s early spot-kick. Elsewhere in the defence, Cesar Azpilicueta (6.0) came back to haunt the 30,000 Fantasy managers that shipped him out leading up to Gameweek 3, netting his debut goal for the London club.

Amid speculation that John Terry would be dropped after Jose Mourinho subbed him at half time against Manchester City, the Blues skipper started alongside Kurt Zouma in central defence. Terry had another torrid afternoon, earning a second yellow card for pulling at the shirt of West Brom striker Salomon Rondo, ruling him out of a home tie against Crystal Palace.

Morrison Brace not Enough for Baggies

James Morrison had a mixed afternoon at the The Hawthorns, making amends for his penalty miss with a well-taken brace. In spite of the 4.9-priced midfielder’s goal scoring heroics, the fact he’s never tallied more than five goals in any of the eight previous campaigns suggest he’ll be hard-pushed to repeat the feat.

West Brom had failed to net in their opening two Gameweeks but offered a much more consistent presence in the final third following a switch from a 4-4-2 to 4-1-4-1 set-up. With Saido Berahino not included in the matchday squad amid growing speculation that he’s nearing a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, Salomon spearheaded the Baggies’ attack and scooped an assist for his troubles. Callum McManaman also notched an assist in his first start of the campaign.

Kolarov in the Points Again

Aleksandar Kolarov (5.6) registered a mammoth 15-point haul courtesy of a goal, three bonus points and the Sky Blues’ third successive shut-out. The Serbian left-back has been a veritable powerhouse at the start of the term, ranking top among defenders for attempts (four) and key passes (seven). Although Gael Clichy – who wasn’t in the squad at Goodison Park – heightens the risk of rotation, Manuel Pellegrini surely won’t be tempted to tinker while Kolarov is in such fine form.

Samir Nasri – who entered the fray after 74 minutes – bagged the visitors’ second goal, with Yaya Toure (8.7) claiming the assist. While the former will struggle for pitch time in the wake of Raheem Sterling’s arrival, the latter has recorded two goals and as many assists in three outings and looks back to his best following a disappointing output last season.

Whilst Sergio Aguero disappointed with a Goodison blank, Sterling picked up the points with the assist for Kolarov’s opener, encouraging his 13.7% ownership to hold tight ahead of City’s excellent run of fixtures. Considering that Pellegrini’s troops embark on four favourable home ties (WAT, WHU, NEW, BOU) across the next six Gameweeks, pursuing triple City coverage could be on many Fantasy managers’ agendas.

Toffees Come Unstuck against Rampant City

The Premier League’s form side proved too hot for Everton to handle as they carded their first defeat of the campaign. Roberto Martinez’ men were outclassed in the centre of the park and consequently failed to carve out many chances of note, mustering just one shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

The Toffees now face a brutal schedule leading up to Gameweek 10, which includes three challenging road trips (tot, swa, ars) and home ties (CHE, LIV, MUN). Having witnessed the Belgian frontman excel in Southampton’s backyard, however, Romelu Lukaku’s 16.9% ownership might not be deterred by the unfavourable match-ups.

Another Shut-Out for Watford

The Hornets played out a drab stalemate at Vicarage Road, marking the second consecutive goalless draw in front of their own supporters. Heurelho Gomes and right-back Allan Nyom were awarded three bonus points each for their defensive efforts, rendering them the top two scorers among Watford’s squad this term. While their potential for further cleans sheets looks bleak over the next couple of Gameweeks (mci, SWA), a trio of encounters from Gameweek 6 (new, CRY, bou) are far more encouraging. Watford and Bournemouth rotate well home/away for those eyeing up a rotation pairing.

Defender Miguel Layun – who netted in the first Gameweek and piqued our interest by virtue of his deployment in midfield – dropped to the bench for this match-up, with Jose Holebas starting at left-back and Ikechi Anya shifted onto the right flank. Anya later displaced Holebas in the second half, proving that Quique Sanchez Flores is still not certain on his first-choice rearguard.

Tactical Tweak Earns Saints a Clean Sheet

Ronald Koeman rolled out a 3-5-2 formation for the Saints’ trip to Watford, fielding Maya Yoshida, Jose Fonte and Steven Caulker as the three centre-backs. Sadio Mane was deployed up front alongside Graziano Pelle but was afforded little time to exhibit his out-of-position potential as he left the field of play following a kick to the hip at the 24-minute mark. The Senegalese forward later revealed that he was “alright”, while Koeman is hopeful he’ll be fit for their midweek Europa League clash.

The south coast club enjoy a strong pair of upcoming fixtures (NOR, wba), before their schedule takes a turn for the worse from Gameweek 6 (MUN, SWA, che). Those in possession of Pelle or Mane will likely be torn between recruiting players with superior form or keeping faith ahead of an alluring home tie against the Canaries. Cedric Soares owners will be tempted to hold, though, with the clean sheet –allied with his wing-back berth – boosting his appeal.

Is this the right week to sell Hazard?

I have Ozil as well and pretty happy to keep. Hazard > Sanchez might be unnecessary for now.

Have Aguero who will probably be my captain. But I do feel that WAT looks like a potential massacre and a Hazard > Silva transfer is pretty obvious/important.

    Silva - WAT, cpl, WHU

    (repost, lost in previous article)

Player TV's falling, triple Sot'on been a disaster, multiple hits not paying off, chasing since GW1 ... seems like season already derailed 🙁

Current team consists of this sorry lot :

    McCarthy Hennessy
    Cedric Koscielny Huth Mings Gomez
    Yaya Sanchez Mane Mahrez Fletcher
    Kun Benteke Pelle

Mane set to drop and Kolarov rising, so should I :

    A) WC to pre-empt price rises and fallers (Kolarov, Mane, ++),
    B) Mane -> Ayew/Payet/Shaqiri
    C) Mane + Koscielny -> Pedro + Kolarov -4

Any help to get my season back on track greatly appreciated guys!

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

The Rough with the Smooth – looking for your Gameweek 3 tales of joy and woe do far. The best ones will be read out on Tuesday night's Scoutcast (9pm)

We are looking for short answers to the following

    1. What was your move of success or failure?
    2. What effect did it have on your rank?
    3. What have you learned from the move?

I'm sure those who ditched Callum Wilson will have a tale to tell, as will those who shunned more popular armband candidates across Manchester for some of this season's emerging mid price stars.

      1. First time Kolarov owner and got me 15 points haul. Was expecting 6 point at most.

      2. Jumped around 300K places

      3. Listen ffs community. Was all set getting Kompany but ffs community suggested to get Kolarov instead.

      1) Starting with Kolarov and Wilson. Not using the WC and resisting temptation. Walcott and Mings were fails 🙁 swapped Mings to Francis on deadline morning

      2) Perseverance pays off (this time anyway). No hits, WC still available and a move from 1.2m rank to 21

      3) Be patient, don't panic. Marathon, not a sprint, etc.

        1. WC activated kept zero players from previous week
        2. 1.9mil to 350k
        3. WC can pay off massively early on with in form bandwagons (Kolarov, Mahrez, Diouf, Gomis etc)

      1. Played my wildcard like so many on here and swapped 14 of my 15 players. Ended up scoring 19 points more than my old team would have done, plus gained 0.9 team value. Success!

      2. Moved from over 2,000,000 to 815,000 with two left to play tonight (Sanchez, Benteke).

      3. Always listen to the Scoutcast! Hadn't even considered wildcarding until I heard Jontys arguments for doing so, and it just seemed to relate to my situation perfectly so pulled the trigger that night.

Jonty please do me in the scoucast. Team surgery needed. My team still hasn't scored a goal, only 1 cs Cedric yesterday and trio of assit from Lens. Average pts per GW are below 30pts. Ouch 🙁 . I plunged the WC. Was 2.8m rank last gw, this one still don't know but probably 2.5m or so. If that isn't Rough I don't know what is it.. 🙁 All bad bad moves and terrible GW 1 team.

Advise on WC and is my season lost..? I think this could be general question for all similar.

      1. Saved a FT from GW2 and took a hit: Walcott, Rooney and Sinclair out, Aguero (c), Yaya Toure and Albrighton (because I was trying to be clever) in. I did this very early during GW2 - Friday night I think - to stall the Walcott sales and price drops.

      2. With Arsenal and Liverpool still to play (eeek), and assuming Walcott doesn't do anything (if he plays at all), then it will have - just - paid off to profit. Still only ended up with 38 points overall this week, so a marginal green arrow takes me to about 1.5m OR. No doubt I'll end up with another red after the high ownerships of Liverpool and Arsenal players kick in.

      3. I tried to be clever and go for the cheaper high performing Leicester mid. It failed badly. I've since transferred Mahrez in for next week. I tried going for the cheaper high performing City mid. It paid off - for now, anyway. So, lesson learned is...um...

      1. Success: WC to draft in my City 3, and securing a 15 point haul from Kolorov.
Failure: Holding off the re-purchase of Francis, awaiting his 0.1 drop, because Huth's fixture looked better, only to see him pick up an assist.

      2. Jumped up from 1.75M to a slightly more respectable 310k, and shot up in all my MLs

      3. Don't listen to people who say an early WC is kneejerk. Trust your gut. Sometimes it's a mistake to jump too soon. but sometimes you miss out on a Mahrez or a Siggy (last year). I actually I didn't learn that. I always knew it! 😉

      1. Wildcarding this week. I was rank 2m after GW1, thought things couldn't get worse with my 'safe' picks - the likes of Koscielny, Ivanovic, Hazard, Rooney and Southampton players. Got a miserable 17 points GW2 and went down to 2.9m. Wildcarded this week removing all 15 of my players.

      2. Rose from 2,978,538th to 1,324,162nd on 64 points with Alexis still to play tonight.

      3. Jumping on bandwagons and price rises early on worked out well using the WC. I think I would have kept my WC and taken a hit or two if rules were the same as last season, knowing I'd get another after GW19 made it a no brainer with such a poor start.

      The Rough:
      GW1 29pts Walcott captain 1pt
      GW2 23pts Tadic captain 1pt
GW3 8 point hit and 2 free transfers to bring in Mahrez, Yaya, Aguero (c) and Gestede

Saturday: With all my new signings in my team I put Wilson on the bench, then watched him get a hattrick. Saturday night I had 58 total points for the season and saw teams that started in GW3 already beating me. OR was 2,929,719th

Sunday my outfield players were Aguero, Yaya, Hazard and Tadic. Not a hope in hell of any of them not playing. First thing I see as I turn on the games is Chelsea facing a penalty, so Courtois has a chance to redeem himself after the GW1 red card he gave me.

      The smooth:
He saved it, my team name is Phoenix From The Flames, could this really be the start of my season? Then I see the teams for Southampton and no Tadic, but he's on the bench. Oh, the torture. Why has FPL got to rub it in with a 90th minute 1 point appearance from Tadic? Mane injured early on but Tadic stayed on the bench, I still didn't believe it, it was agony all game.

With Wilson points included I earned 46 points on Sunday (60-8 for the GW), those Wilson points alone are responsible for a 20% increase in my total points this season. My OR is effectively 1.6 million now. Also, I captained Aguero, so doubled my usual captain points haul.

I have always thought it worth spending a few points instead of wildcarding so early on. My team is still not perfect but that WC will get used in an offensive way instead of just for repairs.

      1. Swapping Wilson for Vardy. Although my other transfer, Azpi to Ward actually hurt me more because I wasn't happy doing it.
      2. Not much, given most people got rid of Wilson and making Hazard captain somehow turned out better than most

Benched Wilson in place of Mane.
Benched Francis in place of Huth.

Decided to wait on Ivan -> Kolarov as I saw Everton scoring and West Brom blanking, so I took a hit to bring in Silva instead.

      I have a mix of both;

      Success
      1. Pulled the WC trigger, got Kolarov, Shaq, Mahrez, Gomis
      2. Up over 1m places so far (had my usual shocking start to the season)
      3. Don't be afraid to pull the WC trigger early if serious restructuring needs to be done

      Failure
      1. Drafted in Bassong because I couldn't get a connection to check if Francis had gone down in price.... so transferred in Bassong for Ward in a bit of a panic. As I had WC'ed I also ended up with a very strong midfield (and a dodgy defence!) so I put Wilson on my bench!
      2. Could have been +17 better off
      3. Make sure I have an internet connection on Saturday morning!! No regrets though regarding the Wislon benching. Looking at my front 8 it was the sensible thing to do. Looking at it a different way, I am kind of pleased with my decision to hold on to him. Is it wrong to hope that something bad happens to Sanchez before the game later today?!

The Rough - 6 points can really ruin the weekend

Sometimes it's the minor decisions that end up annoying you the most.

Played Bassong instead of Cedric - got 1 pt instead of 7 pts.

Knew I should ignore RMT on this one, knew I should spread the risk as have Ruddy in goal, knew Stoke would score. And yet...! Was the decision I pondered most over all Friday - ignored advice given to my post of the site here, went with the temptation of a double clean sheet in one game. Couldn't get to sleep Friday night for thinking about it - changing mind - thinking about it more. Had to pretend I was thinking about something else to the wife and kids when actually thinking about Bassong v Cedric - lying to my family to make a decision I was fearful of from the outset.

Knew on Saturday night that Soton would keep a clean sheet - which they did. Was like a black cloud over the day out I was on. Pissed me off so much I even had to write it here - normally able to control it better.

Hate these FPL selections that do this to me.

      Rant over - apologies.

P.S. Best GW score so far (54 pts + Ozil) - rank improved from 2.5 million to 1.1 million.

      1. Captaining Aguero, when he scored the least points of my whole team. Every other of my outfield players got attacking returns or a CS.

      2. Probably not too much, as many will have had him captain, and the other top captaincy contenders failed.

      3. Always captain Mahrez 😉

      .

      1. Not bringing Kolarov in, since I didn't WC. The week was going so well, I was out scoring most people on here who had played their WC. Then it came to the City game, and Kolarov got his goal and CS.

      2. Pretty big one. Although his ownership isn't immense, I saw a drop in my position in mini leagues. Overall, I still had a green, but in the FFS leagues I had a red.

      3. Sometimes it is best to go with the crowd, rather than trying to be clever.

      Posted via Email by Teddy

Feel free to share my good fortunes with the community:

GW1 – shocker just like everyone else – 23 points with Rooney, Ivanovic, Ozil, Giroud and Walcott as a 33-minute, 1-point captain. Not to mention Ighalo (6) and Richards (8) on my bench. Outside the top 2.5 million.

That prompted me to wildcard, precipitated by the premature involvement of Aguero and Sanchez, the fact that it’s got to be done at some point in the first half of the season and also the fact that prior to GW1 I had given serious consideration to the likes of Ayew, Mahrez, Gomis and Lens.

GW2 – Wildcard team. I kept faith with Walcott and Ivanovic, brought in Gomis, Ayew, Aguero, Sanchez and Lens who all brought in attacking returns, however my high risk cheap defence of Oxford, Targett and Layun failed spectacularly and it was painfully apparent that the Manchester defences were going to take some beating this season. Thankfully two bad decisions cancelled each other out as Mahrez(10) came off my bench for Walcott, giving me a ten point boost.

So I… took a 12 point hit GW3 to drop Walcott, Ivanovic, Layun and Targett and bring in Payet, Darmian, Kompany and Kolarov. Kept the armband on Gomis for the second week running and shot up the rankings. Currently on 57 (-12) for the gameweek, with Sanchez still to come. 116 points overall, inside the top 1 million, and team value (for whatever that’s worth) of 101.3m.

I make that a pretty admirable recovery.

      1. FAIL. Benched Wilson. Did all the hard work of resisting the temptation to wildcard. Had to choose between starting Wilson or Ritchie. Chose Ritchie based on his 2nd half at Anfield. Was gutted all day Saturday, praying that maybe Mane wouldn't play so Wilson would come off the bench. Didn't happen. I so needed a lift after two horror gameweeks. It's getting to the point now where I'm just dreading watching games or looking up results. Horrible, horrible season.

      2. Actually rose slightly to 1.8 million so far, but have no Arsenal or Liverpool to come.

      3. Bench strikers at your peril. Should already have learned that after the same thing happened with Kane vs Chelsea last season.

      1. Took out Wilson 🙁 and Jenkinson 🙂 , got in Gomes but benched him, played Kolarov, Francis, Gomis, Diouf, Mahrez.

      2. 65 points, Sanchez to play, went from 2.9m to 1m.

      3. Bandwagons do sometimes work.

      1. Move of sucess (as part of my wildcard):

Selling Ivanovic, Mane and Myhill and bringing in Darmain, Chadli and Courtois.

My new players gained me an additional 15 points (more than the previous three) between them.

      2. Went up 2 million places from top 2.3m to top 300K + avoided the 0.1m price drop on Ivanovic.

      3. If none of your team are performing it's time to wildcard!

The negative was that I did also take Wilson out on my Wildcard (but I would alost certainly have benched him for GW 3 anyway), I've already subbed him back in for next week for 0.1m less than I sold him for!

Apologies for a long reply but I wanted to share my unusual story of success and drama.

      1. Played my wildcard after 2 horrible GWs and also realising that my players would drop by around 0.5m and players I want in my team would rise by around 1m. I swapped 12 of my 15 players. Had my front 8 set on Ozil,Silva,Ayew,Payet,Mahrez Kun,Benteke,Diouf. Was going to keep switching between 352 and 343. Had Mahrez on the bench this week. 30 minutes from deadline, I decided I don't want the benching headache so I switched Payet and Ozil for Sanchez and Westwood and played Mahrez who was on the bench earlier. To have Westham coverage, I switched Diouf to Sakho. Logged off as I had to go out. 15 minutes from deadline while I was driving, I get a bad feeling about having Sakho over Diouf (who I had in my team all week before the late switch) so I log in from my phone and switch back to Diouf.

Ended up scoring 12 points more than my old team would have done (with Sanchez now vs Milner and Mert before remaining), plus gained 0.9 team value. Big Success!

      2. Jumped 1.1m in ranking so far.

      3. WCing to ride the form players, avoid drops and make profit isn't neccessarily kneejerking. It was the right thing to do when you know you screwed up with your GW 1 team. Learned from my deadline drama that there is a great deal of luck in this game as well.

      1. Wildcard--Aguero (C), Benteke, Sanchez (V), Toure, Depay, Mahrez, Redmond, Kolarov, Shaw, Huth, Butland (Ighalo, Richards, Francis, Myhill).

      2. 2,221,317 --> 645,277

      3. I considered keeping my WC since I could get Alexis and Aguero in for a hit, but the massive price fluctuations swayed me otherwise. I would have lost 0.8 this week. Also, instead of getting a total of 4 points from my previous five defenders, I received 23 from my starters (with Francis on the bench!). Oh, and I had 0.4 in the bank, which I have promptly used to upgrade Ighalo to Wilson.

      1. Resisting the temptation to rage WC (which would have included ditching Wilson) after finding myself at almost 3 million rank-wise.
      2. I'm now pushing 1 million rank after almost my whole team brought the goods. And WC is still intact!
      3. Don't flip out and WC after 2 weeks

      1. Had Wilson on the bench in the second spot. Then Koscielny didn't start (in my starting 11) and Oxlade Chamberlain was benched (first bench spot) and I really planned on getting those delicious 17 points from Wilson off the bench. But then Oxlade came on in the 82nd minute and ruined everything... Thanks for nothing, Wenger.
      2. I guess I will just drop a bit more now, having no ARS/LIV defenders. From 2mill (went from a disasterous 2.6mill before the round). Maybe I'll drop a 100-200k.
      3. Never trust Wenger, and never trust people on the site saying Richie is a better Bournemouth-pick than Wilson.

My move was early wildcard, getting in Kolarov 15 Yaya Toure 7 Diouf 9 Gomis 6 Mahrez 10 Darmian 5 Romero 6 Aguero C 4 Williams 2 and stayed with Hazard 5. 71 points total

From rank 1083k to 65k overall rank

My gw2 team would have gotten 28 points, probably 30 with rooney captain

I think it's safe to say that Pedro is an option for those considering Chelsea mids.

However, should Hazard owners (who are not on WC) be considering downgrading this early?

Early stages, it seems like Hazard took up his usual position. But after a couple of goals, Hazard did seem to be playing much deeper than usual - hovering in the line between Fabregas and Pedro most of time - and came deep into midfield to collect the ball at times.

Question to the Scouts is - do we reckon this is a sign of things to come? ie Hazard deeper, Pedro more advanced.

Or was Hazard's deeper position purely due to the game's dynamics? 3-1 lead at half time, away to an exuberant crowd, Terry sending off meant Chelsea had to play more conservatively etc. Hazard did have a great chance towards the end but couldn't finish.

Triggerlips wrote an article on team value management on his blog today.

This year price drops have been more significant than last season, especially with the current template so far from the popular GW1 choices. Personally I've managed to hold onto my WC but have taken a few hits to keep my team current and avoid lost value.

How much importance do the scoutcast team attribute to managing team value early in the season?

Usually the consensus is not to take hits, but do the chips now open up another strategic element that favors those who use transfer hits to build a stronger squad.
A strong deep squad combined with chips, would surely be at an advantage?
I just feel i'm going to get sucker punched later on in the season, by a more profligate rival who gets those chips timed right.
On balance which do you think is the right approach, transfer parsimony or team building?

This is the crux of the Fantasy Football manager's dilemma, do you stick or twist? Chips will indeed make an important difference to the way we've played it previously.

Loads of members chose to pull the trigger on their wildcards last week, I chose to wait and took a -4 hit to swap Kane > Aguero and Oscar > Kouyate. Shame I left the latter of them on the bench....

This week I am already due to take an -8 point hit as I want proper City coverage (Aguero, Yaya & Kolarov) for the next 5 GWs. But I could play my triple captain chip and this would much wipe out that transfer hit I just incurred.

It could even play into my hands, as City are at home against Watford and I've just recruited Wilson who plays at home to Leicester this coming GW. Also have Mahrez in my squad, so hoping it will be a high scoring game!!

Otherwise, I play my wildcard and make wholesale changes for free, but also saves me my chip for another GW.

Oh the decisions!!! Any opinions on my situation gratefully received....

Quite a lot of people are looking at Gomis---->Wilson, and I'm sure it also provides funds to bring in the likes of Sanchez, Pedro and Silva.

What do you think of this? I believe it's due to Gomis' lack of bonus points, and uninspiring statistics making lots question wether he can keep this up? And is it worth it with no bonus? Will he be able to keep it up as the fixtures start to turn/get mixed for Swansea?

Does Wilson present a better option - in terms of fixtures, bonus potential, and slightly in form? On a high of confidence and potential for price rises?

      Thoughts?

      1. We've talked about Arsenal's pick-and-mix of midfielders sharing the points around them - should we actually be looking at Man City having the same problem? Given Toure, Silva, Nasri, and Sterling have all returned attacking points, it won't be long before someone gets on the end of Navas' crosses, and Kevin De Bruyne if he comes will get in the box a lot, is there a danger of missing out by focusing on just one option?

      2. Is Hazard to Pedro a no-brainer?

Excep the 2-5-3 chip, is it 100% wrong to use the other chips before DGWs?

Or will it be too difficult to have 15 DGW-players anyway so might as well use bench-boost in a normal GW where Your bench have good fixtures?

With Swansea playing United's resolute defending next week, do I opt for the Chelsea cover by going for Costa (for Gomis). Also, between Hazard and Costa which one is the better pick (given that Costa costs 0.5 less and is more involved in the box)?

Is Sanchez worth keeping as Gunner's next few away matches are tough (new, che) or is it a bit too harsh?

Which one to go for between Silva and Yaya? It seems to me that Yaya is a better bet away from home while Silva is more potent in the home matches. How much is that guess true?

Dear Scoutcast team. I brought in Payet and Redmond on my WC this week; I started Payet (2pts) over Redmond (7pts) and while I stand by my decision, I am now stuck in quite a pickle over who to start next week:
Payet did not look enticing against Bournemouth and is now facing Liverpool away who, pending tonight's game, hasn't conceded a goal yet. On the other hand, he was the outstanding player away against Arsenal, and he is on set pieces (sadly not pens).
Redmond is in great form with a goal/assist in all games so far and 5 bps total, but is facing Southampton away who seems to have tightened up defensively since their 0-3 beating.
I know it shouldn't be relevant, but Payet is the more expensive player and I would hate to bench him already. However, I also have Gomez from Liverpool whom I am thinking about starting.
I realise that this is a luxury problem, but I would appreciate any advice/discussion on who to start.
      Looking forward to the podcast!

Is Gomis the real deal this season? And a potential bargain for all those who got him in at 7.0?

Are 3 City players essential for the next several GWs? If so who?
Quite happy with my decision to retain Wilson this past GW, but is he capable of keeping good form?
Pedro, Hazard or Oscar (when fit)?

At this time in the season, I always find priority has to be identifying who the budget options are that will not just give you price rises, but also continue to perform - barring injury. So, who are the top 3 to 5 budget options in each category, GK, DEF, MID, FWD, that currently look like they will start regularly? Rotation risks don't work as bench fodder, because you need them to play.

I offer one in each position so far: GK Gomes DEF Francis MID Mahrez FWD Wilson

Who else would people add to this master list?

Aguero 'Triple Captain' for GW4 v Watford? Too crazy to contemplate... Or potential wonder move?

How would the Scoutcast crew feel about the Wildcard and Chips being suspended till the Summer transfer window closed, in future seasons?

Premium defenders come in at a great price and with so many clean sheets and attacking returns from defenders, is it time to consider potentially starting 4 or even 5 at the back on occasion?

Its not as expensive as you might think either with the amount of value options available. I'm considering a defence of...

      Shaw (5.5), Bellerin (5.5), Kolarov (5.7), Cedric (5.0), Gomez (4.6)

In all seriousness yes, and the good thing is we have more time to assess him 🙂

It's looking liek teh 4th mid is going to be tricky slot again this season
    Payet
    Shaqiri
    Ayew

If you want to fit in Sanchez, Silva/Yaya, Hazard/Pedro then can really only get one of those 3 above. but which one to choose for the medium term?

Morrison has typically been a 4-5 goal a season player - but could step up this year.

Rondon looks very promising (fantasy wise particularly if Berahino goes).

Which pair do we see scoring more points over the next 6 Gameweeks??

    A) Gomis / Payet

    B) Wilson / Pedro

Used my FT on Sakho to Wilson - maybe should have got Diouf but the fixtures look better short term.

This gives me the funds to Depay > Pedro for a -4hit? Is this the way to go?

Other question is it right to bench Darmian and Williams next week who play each other?

    Here is the team:

    Myhill (McCarthy)
    Kolarov Gomez Richards (Darmian Williams)
    Sanchez Silva Depay Mahrez (Westwood)
    Aguero Gomis Wilson (1.2 ITB)

    Cheers!

0.2 short of doing Mane to Silva.

Mids are: Haz, Mane, Ayew, Chadli, Wanyama

    Haz to Silva
    Mane to Mahrez

That'll be for -4, or should I just stick and see?
