It’s Jonty’s time to curry sympathy this week and he’s on the receiving end of a barrage of cyber-bullying from co-host Granville.

Determined to the belittle Jonty’s Wildcard performance following Callum Wilson’s hat-trick, Granville takes to Twitter before roasting him live on air on the ScoutCast. He seems to have totally missed the fact that I too sold on Wilson as part of my own Wildcard; I’m quite happy for Jonty to play Patsy on this one.

Jonty rolls with the virtual punches to join us as we look back on the Gameweek that saw all three of us refresh our squads. We score our Wildcards out of ten, before scanning the community for Gameweek tales in “Rough with the Smooth”.

We then take on your questions, as we assess Pedro’s pedigree, the lure of Aleks Kolarov and the merits of a well-rounded squad in the light of the FPL chips.

This ScoutCast was first broadcast live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday. Be sure to subscribe to our channel for news of upcoming live Casts. You can view the broadcast in full via the larger player below but, if you prefer the edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Darmian, Cedric, Richards, Gomez

    Thanks guys

Cedric. Europa hangover, not been that tight anyway.

Tricky though, similar situation (Darmian, Gomez, Richards, Muniesta)

In a draft league, who would you play for this GW (two sets of questions):

1: JRod (NOR) or Gestede (SUN) - pick one

2: Walcott (new) or Albrighton (bou) or Mane (NOR) - pick two

Geologically, it largely is placed at the North Caspian basin, which overlies the East European cartoon. Europe is more east than you think.

turkey is on the border of europe with part of it clearly geographically in europe. kazakhstan touches china and is miles away from europe.

Like Russia , it has a comparably smaller % of it's total area on the continent of Europe.

Also like Russia it is one of the largest counties of the world and extends far east to meet China.

Quite an ignorant statement as a part of Kazahstan is actually in Europe since the Ural mountains (the actual border between Europe and Asia) go through the country.

      1. the axolotl

        quite the technicality that

        1. Pariße
          • 10 Years
          10 years, 5 months ago

Just saying, the border is Ural and what you said about them being far away from Europe is nowhere near the truth, touching China doesn't mean anything, Russia is touching China as well and a part of them is in Europe as well.

Just because they're a ''stan'' country doesn't mean they're far away from Europe, just check.

yeah i know my geography and realised someone could throw the russian card at me there. the urals were more a way of dividing russia into european and siberian/asia i always thought. anyway kazakhstan is still a thoroughly asian place for the most part

If a player who was refused a move went to court he would surely win. The owning club would receive compensation but in this day and age nobody could stop someone leaving an employer and working for who he choses

Guess it's like any contract though no? If you sign a set time contract with work, then you're obliged to serve that time. You can refuse to turn up, but you're still employed by that employer under the specific contract.

Whole idea is to stop you going to a competitor...which fits here too

as an example, i have a friend who worked for a company and signed a 2yr contract. He tried to leave and go to a competitor. They said no and made him 'work' out the rest of his contract.

In reality he had nearly 12 months of paid gardening leave!

I'm sure there was something on SSN a year or two ago about some hockey player who wanted to quit his/her current contract and it was going to some EU super court and the ramifications if they succeeded was footballers would be able to go where they wanted willy-nilly, but not sure what happened in the end with that one.

Strictly speaking WR they can't stop you leaving but, depending on what your contract says and what you do for a living, they definitely CAN stop you, legally, from doing certain things thereafter--ie, they can stop you working for competitors, or using contacts or information from your previous employer. So legally, in any walk of life, you can contractually bind yourself not to do certain things for a certain period of time. I reckon Premier League contracts have enforcable clauses like this.

Is having both Targett and McCarthy on WC a really bad idea? I suspect it might be.

-Bertrand 'back in training in the intl break' (how long does it take to build up fitness given how long he's been out?)
-Speroni back in training too. (Is it a given that he gets his place straight back?)

Don't have the cash to upgrade...so i guess what i'm asking is are there better options that are less likely to fall in price?

    STaylor
    Oxford

    Another non-playing 4m?

I think Targett is not a good long-term prospect whereas STaylor stands a better chance of points throughout the season. With a WC I think you want to be looking 6 games ahead and pick players who will get you points across the 6 games.

    2. Wilshere Knowledge
      • 12 Years

Targett will 100% lose his place. Probably in 1 or 2 more GW's.

McCarthy 'might' stay first choice, but I doubt it.

There are no other options in that price range.

However, if you're happy to let them rot, go for it. 😉

    Kompany Targett Gomez
    Shaquiri Silva Mahrez Sanchez

Nothing. Silva is fine wherever he is supposed to play on paper. The reality is he never stays put anyway.

He's good anywhere, but better centrally, imo.

Less defensive work, everything goes through him, and being central should increase the number of goalscoring opportunities.

If anybody has a criticism of him it's usually that he doesn't stay in position when he's been put wide...He'll still bag a bag full of pts.

            • 12 Years

Sure, but he is 10m. He could theoretically be worth 10m as a 10, but not worth 10m out wide.

I think he's on the brink of value as a 10 personally, and if he went wide, I'd think about looking elsewhere.

I'm on a WC, and I'm not getting Aguero. Too expensive.

And although 'Watford' sounds like a fantastic fixture, they have done well so far this season, and they have an Udinese right back, Werder Bremen centre back, Roma left back with a Napoli defensive midfielder.

And, more importantly, I'm an Arsenal fan and we're on the telly. 😉
