Following a Gameweek littered with knocks and niggles, we roll out our usual post-match club-by-club report on the fresh arrivals in the treatment room.

We find Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe with plenty to concern him, whilst Claudio Ranieri plays down the back problem that forced Riyad Mahrez off against the Cherries.

Arsenal
Mesut Ozil missed the Gunners 1-0 win at Newcastle with a minor knee problem. Prior to the match, Arsene Wenger confirmed he expects the German back imminently:

“It’s a slight injury but he is not available to play. He will be out for one week”

Aston Villa
Jack Grealish missed Villa’s home draw with Sunderland after injuring an ankle in training on Friday, while club skipper Gabby Agbonlahor was also ruled out through illness after the club had been hit by a widespread virus.

Post-match, Tim Sherwood brought us this on the Grealish injury….

“Jack twisted his ankle. There was no-one near him. He caught his toe in the turf on Friday. He went over on it. He was sick, gutted. We don’t know how bad it is. We’re hoping it’s just a sprain and the international break might give him an opportunity to be ready for the Leicester game.”

While he also updated us on Agbonlahor’s situation…

“Gabby is not well. He’s had the stomach bug. I think there’s six or seven at the club who have suffered. Gabby was one.”

Adama Traore was also ruled out against the Black Cats having made his debut from the bench at Palace in Gameweek 3. Sherwood was optimistic on his return after the international break…

“Adama is feeling a kick. He got a kick on the back of the calf and obviously rolled his ankle at the same time. The good news is that the ankle is okay. It’s just about the soreness of the kick – and it was too sore for him to take part.”

Bournemouth
The Cherries’ treatment room got a little bit busier this weekend after three of their players sustained weekend injuries. Tyrone Mings lasted just 11 minutes as a sub before being stretchered off, whilst Max Gradel is also a worry for Eddie Howe:

“We need to assess and scan before making a judgement. Tyrone didn’t look good, seeing him in that much pain, it’s not nice to see. Max knew early it was serious. Knee injuries are not good to see. It restricted us tactically. We couldn’t make changes when we needed to to get momentum back.”

Left-back Charlie Daniels was forced off with a knee problem at the break, though is optimistic the problem isn’t serious:

“I had an initial scan and it did not look too bad. Hopefully, it will be nothing long-term but we can’t really tell yet, that was just the first look. Once the swelling has gone down, I will probably have another scan on Tuesday to see how it is.”

The Cherries were also without Joshua King due to a hamstring problem.

Everton
The Toffees are set to be without Tom Cleverley for a period of time after the midfielder was stretchered off in yesterday evening’s goalless draw at Spurs. Post-match, Roberto Martinez admitted the club are uncertain how long Cleverley will be sidelined for:

“The physio is a little bit more positive [than he was at half-time]. I think it is clearly ligament damage – but, straight away, we were fearing it could have been ligament damage and a fracture as well. It shows that Tom is a very, very fit man to be able to get through that collision with a [relatively] minor injury. He will still be out for a while but not as long as we first thought he might be – and we thank the luck that we had there.”

Leicester
Claudio Ranieri confirmed that the Foxes in-form Riyad Mahrez was subbed off at the break after sustaining a back problem during yesterday’s clash with Bournemouth. The Leicester boss eased concerns over a serious injury by revealing:

“We changed Riyad at half-time because he took a kick very early in the game and after that, in the battle, he could not play at full speed. I wanted us to keep pressing forward, so we replaced him as a precaution.”

Southampton
Victor Wanyama – who missed the Saints Europa League exit on Thursday evening with a stomach bug – was again absent for today’s win over Norwich. With rumours of a move to Spurs growing, Ronald Koeman revealed the Kenyan was “not mentally and physically good enough to play” against the Canaries.

Stoke
Mark Hughes has confirmed that Glen Johnson was forced off just after the hour mark against West Brom due to a groin problem.

Swansea
Jefferson Montero missed today’s win over United with a minor thigh problem. After the match, Garry Monk eased fears over the extent of the injury:

“Unfortunately Jeff pulled up in training with a bit of soreness in his quad, but he has had scan and it is nothing clinical.”

Tottenham
Spurs are set to assess Moussa Dembele after the Belgian was stretchered off during the goalless draw with Everton with a foot injury.

The player himself has since posted on Twitter offering reassurance on the scale of the problem.

West Brom
James Chester missed the Baggies 1-0 win at rivals Stoke due to a minor hamstring problem. Callum McManaman also suffered from a similar complaint but was fit enough to make an appearance as a second-half sub.

I thought Pedro looked kind of crap this game. Didn't really notice him until the assist....mind that was a terrific ball.

His goal last GW was flukey too. But he looks a good value buy-in to a team that surely will come good soon. On my radar.

Tough to prove much value at 9.5...but I do think he's a fine pick for what it's worth. Saying he looked dangerous and heavily involved is a step too far for me from the Palace game, though.

      Wanyama is overrated.

      Shaw's fault United lost.

Pedro dangerous and heavily involved last game.

Not trying to be rude but.... stick to FIFA!

I have Coates at 4.4 with 1.1 ITB. Which 5.5 Defender should I transfer in for a hit? Coated is dropping and 5.4 and below is a different class of players.

Anyone like Dier who plays Sunderland and plays OOP for 5.0?

Torn over transfer tonight for price. If you were to bring either Pedro, Ayew or Wilson in where would you make the move? 1.1ITB 1FT.

Silva / Depay / Ozil (injured) / Payet / Westwood

    Aguero / Gomis / Diouf

Depay easily...provided Ozil is deemed fit. If not, Ozil. But I'd wait for word on the German.

Cheers. Had Wilson from week 1 and have both Pedro and Ayew in my wildcard team so covered there. Both a bit bandwagony but after my start I could do with any win I can get. Only one of my players has scored so far (although he does admittedly have 4 so far.)
I was one of those who did Costa --> Aguero before GW3 which still hurts. Tried not to wildcard but another poor week has forced my hand.

43 including hit for Pedro, not too shabby

Have no Swans in attack, would Tekkers -> Gomis be sensible? Probably yes, but any thoughts. Otherwise will upgrade Targett to a 4.5 - thinking Francis.

Right, I'm seriously consdering doubling up on City defence. They've looked solid at the back so far.

I reckon Ayew + Sagna/Kompany will out score Yaya/Silva + any other defender over the next few GWs.

Yaya/Silva could explode, and bring in some serious hauls, but I'm torn between the two, and also fancy KDB. I may go without any of them and assess for a few weeks until we know who the best FPL option really is.

    Madness?

    1. Walsh
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

I'd rather double on City attack than defense. KDB in for Navas is a mind-blowing upgrade. Can't even comprehend how much better their attack will be without a black hole on one wing anymore.

      1. Rödallegabomb ᴿᴮ
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 3 months ago

I fancy KDB too as an option, that's the thing. Over their kind fixtures there will be weeks when each of them blank, get returns or multiple returns etc. As I said, I don't want to end up with the wrong option.

I think Kompany/Sagna have a good chance of out scoring them over the run, as they have already. Many have overlooked that, and their fixtures only get better. I have no doubt in my mind that Ayew will out score any other defender I'd consider.

        Though one.

Not madness. But as you say it does restrict you on an attacking option.

I'm thinking the same, but Kolo & Sagna/Zaba

      1. Rödallegabomb ᴿᴮ
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 3 months ago

        Glad I'm not alone.

Already have Kolarov, so it's between Sagna and Kompany for the second. I have too much money in the bank, so price isn't really a factor.

Sagna has looked better for BAPS, with Kompany only getting 2 in a game where he got a goal and a CS, and none in the rest including a game where he scored the same.

May have been discussed before. How will KDB impact City players? How will he improve and who will he weaken? I can see Kun getting even more service. Maybe Yaya might sit back a little now?

    1. Rödallegabomb ᴿᴮ
      • 13 Years

Toss up, see above. This is another reason I'm skeptical about the City mids.

Yaya may shift back, Silva may move out of his preferred position, KDB will 'steal' some assists.

Just having a wee look about and see that the Number One at the moment played his triple captain this week.

    What a nobber.

[YYT for a massive 9, not that it makes much difference.]

Seems so although a lot ditched mane and ayew and pelle this week even with good fix, I would personally hold, don't expect much out of him next week esp with countino out but the following fix are great plus pools main forward

Ditching all Liverpool. We'll forever be crap with Rodgers in charge and no Suarez to bail him out.

I did a couple of weeks ago. I also ditched Coutinho (before his RC). I'm a Liverpool fan, but feel absolutely doomed with BR and his set up. We haven't really scored yet this year -- offside, etc. -- and we just don't look to have any real goal scorer. It is worrisome.

No, having said that, Tekkers may get his groove on and that'll be it . . . . I just don't see it though.

My front 8, after getting Ayew for Ozil today

    Silva, Ayew, Payet, Mahrez, Mane
    Kun, Pelle, WIlson

Right now, leaning towards benching either Pelle or Mane. AOA is an option as well, but my defense has some great matchups as well.

Southampton will struggle against WBA, benching Pelle sounds like a good idea!

      Bench Pelle from that lot

I'd bench Pelle. Having double Soton attack right now sort of seems like a disaster looking at their fixtures.

Agreed Walsh. Mane seemed the more dangerous of the two today, despite the Pelle goal.

Been looking at it too much and thinking way outside the box I think.

Can I get some sensible advice on what to do with one of my FT?

    Boruc, McCarthy
    Kolorov, Shaw, GJ, Morgan, Richards
    Hazard, Sanchez, Yaya, Mahrez, Westwood
    Aguero, Gomis, Wilson

    2ft

Remove GJ from your team immediately

          Anyone but GJ

Williams, Cedric, Dann, Sagna (if you can afford), Francis, a Watford defender. Anyone but GJ

      Hazard to Pedro

Hazard falling, Pedro rising. + You have another FT so not a complete sideways move

As a Jenkinson owner, I'm getting worried...

Both games Jenkinson did not play, West Ham won. And those games were away at the Emirates and at Anfield.

However, he did play the home games against Leicester and Bournemouth in which West Ham lost both.

Do we think Jenko will start next match?

Need help. I have Coates at 4.4 with 1.1 ITB. Which 5.5 Defender should I transfer in for a hit? Coated is dropping and 5.4 and below is a different class of players.

Anyone like Dier who plays Sunderland and plays OOP for 5.0?

Who would UTD fans rather have:

    - Mane
    - Pedro

i think mane would be better more direct & quicker

He could fly over and drop rocks on his captors. That's about all a Piper Cub could handle.
