Not surprisingly, there are more reports on the Wayne Rooney injury surfacing this morning, following on from last night’s claims that the United striker would face several weeks on the sidelines.

United have themselves reported a direct quote from Alex Ferguson on the matter, stressing that Rooney’s setback is only a minor hamstring complaint…

“It’s difficult to say [how long Rooney will be out for]. It’s not a serious hamstring injury but I don’t think he’ll be available for next week. I think he’ll be out for more than a week.”

Ferguson’s comment suggests that Rooney will miss the Champions League tie with Basle on Tuesday, in addition to the home league clash with Norwich next weekend. That would be a major concern for Fantasy managers.

Rooney himself meanwhile, is more optimistic on his chances of making a quick recovery. He delivered his own prognosis via his official Twitter channel…

“Gutted I’m missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday…”

Presumably more details on Rooney’s hamstring will surface on Monday, in preparation for the European tie. For now, there will be many Fantasy managers reserving their judgement and transfers, until more details are known.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Suarez + Dzeko -> Aguero + Sturridge

    B) Suarez + Dzeko -> Aguero + Welbeck

    C) Suarez + Dzeko -> Aguero + Ba (allows me to do upgrade defence)

    d) Dzeko -> Adebayor

    e) Suarez + Wes Brown -> Adebayor + Smalling

        The rest are dodgy and Suarez remains a good option.

      Hehe
      Same dilemma as last night eh 🙂
      Wait until after the CL games when youll know
      A- if valencia or Nani has played
      B- if drogbas fully fit or or form
      C- if someone else (sturridge, nasri etc etc) scores a hatrick to completely change your thinking
      D- if theres any more injuries. Remember, the whole cause of this dilemma was an unforseen injury to Rooney in the first place!!
      Dont wanna risk the same situation again

      No, Suarez has brilliant fixtures coming up. You have more potential in what you have than in the the 2 you're about to buy.

    This Rooney situation could get interesting. If he does miss the Norwich game then it is the international break and his price could drop a fair bit before the Liverpool game. On the other hand I doubt he will miss any more than one game. Will be interesting to see who loses out - those who sell, or those who keep.

        I'm thinking about swapping Dzeko for Aguero despite Rooney's injury. I'll want him back as soon as he is fit so i'm not sure if it's worth risking not being able to afford him back.

    I really can't see any reason why Fergie would rush to play Rooney against Norwich, with an International break coming up aswell i think Fergie would rather keep Rooney's injured status with the Liverpool game coming up afterwards.
    I'd be very surprised to see him play, also the rumours of "faking" injury so that he can play Rooney against Basel seem a bit daft....i mean it's Basel, not Barcelona!

      +1000 Fergie will nurse Rooney over the next three weeks; possibly to Rooney's disgust.

        What about this
        Rooney has played every game for club and country this season
        SAF is resting him these games cos he knows Rooney will defo play for England - England physios will check him out and declare him fit
        Rooney scores 4 goals in those two games.
        Then hes fit and bang in form for Liverpool and City

    Probably too soon, but who would you consider.. armband for next GW ?

    1) Aguero away with the leaky Blackburn

    2) Nani home with Norwich, but rotation? (some said he potentially be rested in this kind of game..)

    3) Ade home in derby match with, a shaky in defense, Arsenal

    4) Anyone else... RVP? Drogba? Dzeko? Silva?

    It will be interestingly debated over the coming week.... 😀

        It's international break after the game on GW7. I see no good reason for Aguero to be rested.

        The Rovers conceded 3, at home, to Arsenal a week ago. Man City have should capability to do the same or even more.

            Umm.. Another make or break come very soon for Kean.

            Last time at Ewood Park, he played 4-2-3-1 with two holding MF stayed very close to their MF. But they still conceded two from the crosses and one from middle. I think Man City could go wild again..

            But I'm normally preferred (c) home players.. Nani or Ade, might be.

        1 or 2 for aguero, he was instrunental in the opening goal and pretty good overall so im expecting a good PPI score (or whatever that ea index thing is)

    It'll be interesting to see how much Rooney would drop if he doesn't play tomorrow and doesn't play vs Norwich.

    The worse I'd expect is to drop .3 meaning getting him back for the same price sold.

    But with the international break he could drop even more. Liverpool isn't for another 3 weeks.

    He could potentially be back at 12.0 by then.

      nah, Rooney will drop his max amount this week, with the bulk of the trades out being last minute calls made on Saturday. He'll only drop down once before then I think. Anyone who's kept him on the bench one week will wait patiently for him to return so I think there'll only be a further .1 drop unless his injury and time off field is extended.

        9.5 is a lot to invest in Mata though and he seems to often be the player who passes to the assister.

        Maybe I need to watch a bit more of him, but I'm not yet convinced due to his price. However, with only Bosingwa from Chelsea in my side I'm thinking if I'm going to get a Chelsea mid/att it'll have to be soonish.

      Mata does have Bolton next weekend though and they are shipping goals left right and centre. Upcoming fixtures generally good also. I think he was unlucky this week, if Fernando hadn't got himself sent off Mata would very possibly have scored more points and not have been subbed off most annoyingly just before 60 mins.

      VDV can be brilliant but he's always an injury (and therfore a transfer) waiting to happen. Also question marks remain as to whether he will be played in his preffered position in behind Adebayor, where he always looks likely to do damage, or whether he'll be shunted out to the wing to accomodate Defoe on his return.

      Both on set pieces, VDV does have pens in his favour but who knows who will take for Chelsea if Frank and possibly Drogs are on the bench?

    Off-topic question currently trying to decide between Plusnet and Sky so if anyone has had either a nightmare of fantastic experience with one of these 2 broadband providers it would be great to know. Thanks!

    Where do you think the BPs for the West Brom-Fulham game will go?

    Just realized that while I'm doing okay (2nd in my league, 13 behind my big rival) my transfers so far this season have BOMBED -

    1. bringing in Dzeko after 4 goals vs Spurs
    2. bringing in Aguero this week (I guess 5 pt still okay)
    3. dropping Silva for VDV week 2 due to being scared of Nasri impact
    4. bringing in Theo for VDV and Wenger promptly dropping him for Blackburn game after which he's now injured
    5. bringing in Torres for Suarez in gw2

    Absolute disaster. Whether I play the form (Dzeko Aguero) or fixtures (Suarez Theo). Only thing that has been saving me is Wayne Rooney. And how he's gone.

      Yeah man
      I found out to my cost that sometimes 'nothing' is the best thing to do!
      I had nani for gw 1-3 then swapped him to young for gw 4-6
      Had I done it the other way round id have 45 points more
      Had I left nani in id have 20 points more
      My own fault for knee jerking
      Young to destroy Norwich!!! 🙂

    Is Rooney not going to be protected? How does that work again?

      Protected after he comes back as far as I know, all a bit random in reality I think.

        Aye think as a general rule they're supposed to be protected for about 10 days once the flag is removed.

        I think with Rooney it's a case of wait and see. Will hopefully know more by tomorrow evening.

    What BPs do you think Mata will get?

    I could do Walcott > Mata, but would need to do the transfer before one of them rises/drops (unless I do end up doing Rooney > Aguero as well).

    you know what , no point in bringing in utd coverage for the norwich game , after that they have liverpool away, for me pool will do utd over and the Eeek after city, which I think will be 4-2 city but I wanna keep rvp and suarez and ain't changing mata/silva/arteta to nani with hits
