An extraordinary death threat ode to Granville provided the inspiration and backdrop for this week’s Scoutcast.

My co-host wasn’t sure whether to feel flattered or mildly panicked by a community post like no other.

Recovering from the menacing tribute, Granville joined forces with Jonty and myself to assess the merits of the deadline day arrivals, before grappling with another round of community questions.

We rinse through the De Bruyne debate, the heavy-hitter slump, briefly consider buying Jonny Evans, before tentatively giving out dating advice – again inspired by the imaginations of you, the community.

    Norwich, West Brom and West Ham are up early doors.

    Then around lunchtime will be Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City.

      I would say Jenk, but looks like he'll be benched for Tomkins - I'd play Huth instead - not much in it in terms of CS, but it avoids you getting a 1 point sub cameo from Jenkinson.

          He was at times, particularly last 15 minutes when kun was subbed.

          Any chance of that happening is gone with KDB and Silva vying for #10.

    I want to clear something up that some people appear confused about.
    Getting begovic in for courtois is a great idea (if courtois is confirmed out) as begovic price will surely rise due to value and likely clean sheet Chelsea will surely start getting.
    However. Courtois price will not drop in the meantime. As he'll be flagged and thus, price protected.

      You're not price protected if you get flagged red. You just have a higher threshold. You're only protected once that red flag has been removed.

          Is it? Martin Kelly over Joel Ward at right back is hardly going to destabilise things - he played there all season for them last year. Also Ward was terrible defensively against Arsenal.

      He's a very good option, but with Aguero against Palace and Sanchez home to Stoke (2 of the teams who have been the most susceptible according to defensive stats), it's impossible to say that Mahrez is the obvious choice. I think the general theme will be "when in doubt, captain Aguero", which is what I think I'm doing.

      Still, going with Mahrez is as good a shout as any.

    If Courtois is out for as long as predicted, I guess we'll get more on this in the press conference, is there a case for not bringing in Begovic?

        He would be a good option, although despite the start both Man Utd, and Chelsea have made I think I still prefer Chelsea for defensive returns, there's not doubt Utd have been playing more cautiously to protect Romero.

      I think it depends on a couple things:

      Whether you have your WC still remaining

      Whether want to use a FT on a keeper.

      Generally, I don't like bringing in a player I know will be a headache down the line. I still have my WC, so if I had 2 FTs, and nothing else to do, I'd possibly bring him in and ditch on my WC. Other than that, it's unlikely I'll bother.

          I have Butland and Ruddy rotating, the rotation is good on paper, but Norwich have been especially disappointing defensively.

          I have 2 FT but no money in the bank, and I have already used my WC.

          Although a Chelsea keeper for 5m with a guaranteed 8 - 10 game run is hard to resist.

            Ahh I have the same pair; it's not exactly great, but it's not disastrous. I've used my FT this week, so I'm in a different position to you. In your case, it's certainly something I'd be looking at.

    Please RMT.... I am trying to get in Sanchez but I just don't have enough $$$

    Cech, McCarthy
    Martin, Creswell, Evans, Kolarov, Naughton
    Sako, Silva, Pedro, Ayew, Mahrez
    Aguero, Gomis, Wilson

    I am trying to get in Sanchez but I just don't have enough $$$, Arsenal Fixtures are not the best but Sanchez has the most shots of midfielders and must start to score soon...

    Could downgrade Kolarov, Cech and others to get him in... Thoughts?? 😀

      Maybe drop Kolarov (COULD be rotated but doubt it) and get Richards/Gomez/Nyom/Walker instead?

      Cech, you can get Lloris/Begovic (Courtois is out for months)

    Saw some injuries to my players I had selected (played WC this GW)

    Here is my current set up..

    Cech/Krul
    Gomez/Kolarov/Nyom/Walker/Shaw
    Yaya/Pedro/M'Villa/Payet/Ayew
    Aguero/Gomis/Wilson

    What do you guys think?

      It looks like you've spread your money around a bit, which is fine while so few big hitters are failing to perform, but have you got a backup plan to free up funds if they hit the ground running after the international break?

        You raise a good point, no I don't, however, this team on average should be getting me a good few points every week consistently.. I would be able to drop Aguero for Costa/Rooney/Kane (well pretty much anyone) and have enough even then to drop Pedro for Hazard/De Bryne or drop Yaya

        So two game weeks or 4 points loss and I now have a backup plan 🙂

        I think Walker (and Spurs) are going to come back strong and M'Villa (who I have always loved) seems to be taking set pieces and looking very comfortable in the EPL

        I have one "star" player per position.

        Cech
        Kolarov
        Yaya/Pedro
        Aguero

        I also like to spread my players out over 10 or more teams, at the moment it has 12 different teams 🙂

    I'm sure this has been asked elsewhere, but will there be an official Champions League fantasy game on UEFA's website this season? I can't seem to find any news on this anywhere, or am I simply missing something?
