We turn our attentions to FantasyBet this Friday lunchtime, as I continue my quest to turn my £100 pot into profit.

For those unfamiliar, the initial player prices and scoring system in Fantasy Bet are
very similar to Fantasy Premier League, making it an accessible weekly and daily format for those who pay a lot of attention to the official game.

This week, FantasyBet have rolled out a few of their less conventional selection formats, allowing Fantasy managers to experiment with some refreshing selection criteria in games that offer unlimited funds, smaller budgets and no-captain contests.

There are three free games on offer – the regular £100 freeroll and £50 flash freeroll contests are joined by a £50 freeroll in which the budget is unlimited.

In the low-fee games category there are a number of options. You can join the usual cheap weekly game that has a £100 pot guaranteed, try a £75 game that covers the two Sunday and Monday fixtures (five players are allowed from each of the four teams) or opt for a budget weekend game (squad must be less than 85m), all for £1.10 each.

In the mid-priced games, for a £3.30 fee there are two guaranteed pots. One of my favourites is the Saturday double-up game for a £75 pot and also a Monday night one-game contest, again with a limited budget of 85m. There’s also a £5.50 game with £50 guaranteed payout in which no captain selection is required.

For high-rollers there’s a £100 guaranteed flash game for a £11.00 stake, this is a lucky list contest so you have three minutes to pick from a list of 70 random players, a nerve-wracking yet groundbreaking and entertaining way to pick a Fantasy Football team. There’s also pots with guaranteed winnings of £500 in the ‘big weekly’ contest and £100 for a Sunday and Monday fixtures game, both require a £22 stake.

In Wednesday’s Weekly Shop article, I covered some of the players I’m looking at this weekend. It’s worth bearing in mind though that while the pricing system in FantasyBet is similar to the official game, price falls and rises are not accounted for at the moment so players like Anthony Martial, Dimitri Payet and Ross Barkley can all be picked up for their original prices.

The Bottom Line

Mixed results after a big stake last week, I spent £12.10 on entries, leaving me on £86.96. A few victories provided me a small profit, though. I was third in the double-up game from 27 entries, which brought in £6, and another £2.55 in winnings left me on £95.51. There were losses elsewhere but I’m relieved to have not done too badly after backing clean sheets from Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa that failed to materialise.

This Week’s Stake

Weekly – I’m entering the £1000 game for a £5.50 stake and the £100 game for £1.10 this week. I’m trying out the budget weekend game to see how I fare with less funds than usual – this also requires a £1.10 fee. Then, of course, I’m putting teams in the £50 unlimited game and £100 free-rolls. All of these have guaranteed pots and offer good value.

Daily – I’ve made a team for the Sunday and Monday £75 guaranteed pot for another £1.10 and also going for the Saturday double-up once again for £3.30.

Stake – £12.10

Current balance – £83.41

FFScout Picks League

The Scout Picks failed to end in the money places last week – our 44 points fell far short of Wisey’s 75 point haul. Wisey heavily backed Bournemouth against Sunderland, with Simon Francis (8 points), Matt Ritchie (9 points) and Callum Wilson (18 points as captain) making the difference.

I’ve created a £1.10 entry game in which I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected. Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

    I used to find Mourinho entertaining but now it's just worn thin, there's no humour in it - it's just all moaning and childish bad feeling. Someone like Ian Holloway is entertaining - Mourinho is just like a crap episode of Eastenders on repeat!

        There was that one episode at Christmas time when somebody told me to tune in because Peggy Mitchell was going to explode... I was sorely disappointed when it was just the pub next to her that exploded. She was unscathed! It was like coal in my stocking all over again

    REPOST:
    MH on his decision to rest several players in midweek...
    "It was unrealistic to think Bojan could play three games in a week so we rested him on Tuesday, just as we did with Jon Walters too. The guys who are playing in the Premier league are doing OK. The performances haven't been to concerning, but we don't have the points we would like to have. We haven't been able to produce a good 90 minute performance yet but we will strive to do that tomorrow. We have 22, 23 senior players available for selection tomorrow which is good for me, but it also means I have to disappoint one or two of them. Marc Wilson is our only doubt, with a calf problem."

    From LVG

    INJURY UPDATE
    “We have the same 3 injuries – Rojo, Shaw and McNair. We have to wait and see how the others recover as there’s only two days between matches.

    “I spoke to him [Shaw] last night. He was very positive which is amazing for me. It’s a very good signal. We have started the rehabilitation. He shall be visited at home for first electro muscle stimulants.”

    MARTIAL'S IMPRESSIVE START
    The boss: "It is a little bit of luck, but of course the main thing is his quality. As a player, he has to do it and he has to cope with the pressure. What we have seen until now, he can do it."

    MARTIAL'S STYLE
    “His personality is that he is an open guy, he is listening, he is watching, he is focusing on the matches. For a manager, he is a very coachable player – that is also why I bought him.”

    WILSON LOAN
    “He is the natural successor of Martial, but he needs to play. However, Manchester United's interests are always higher than individual interests, so I have doubts about letting him go.”
    “Maybe we will have to wait until December to see how it is with our club. Are we succeeding in the Champions League? In the Capital One Cup? Maybe he shall receive minutes off me because I have to rotate as I did against Ipswich Town and it can also be done in the other matches. I have talked with him and I think we’ll wait until December.”

    Focus on attack or defence? Probably others are wondering this as well....

    A. Butland and Muniesa/Gomez to Begovic and Dawson, FT
    - need to sort out the defence, as Muniesa and Gomez were benched....other defenders are
    Williams, Darmian and Kolarov.

    B. Gomis and Wilson to Martial and Ighalo, FT
    - sideways or worth it ? In this case next week Gomez to Dawson, FT. to sort out the defence.

    Your pick of these ?

    Thanks.

    Ok, new plan:

    This week:
    Silva -> Pedro

    Next week:
    Coutinho -> KDB or Silva
    Gomez -> Dawson or Evans

    Sounds ok? OR forget Pedro and get KDB this week? (already got Aguero and Kolorv...)

        I agree he deserves a spot but ahead of any of my current midfield is the question?

      B or D.

      Personally would go with B. Chelsea cleans sheets should start to pick up soon and Azpi is nailed on with good attacking return. Utd have tricky fixtures after this GW, hence Martial more risky but up to you!

      & yes he is worth getting, him or KDB.
