This afternoon we publish our usual pre-Gameweek members article, which focuses on the main captaincy contenders according to the votes cast in our Captain Poll. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Sergio Aguero (53%) reclaims the top spot in our Captain Poll ahead of Manchester City’s home tie against Newcastle United. Although the 13.2-priced forward has recorded five successive league blanks, his owners will be hoping he can kick on after scoring a midweek Champions League winner against Wolfsburg.

The favourable nature of the Sky Blues’ match-up finds Kevin De Bruyne – who’s netted in three of his four starts since arriving from Wolfsburg – sitting in silver-medal position with 10% of the votes. Fit-again David Silva (2%) also makes an appearance, given that the Magpies have conceded twice in five of the first seven Gameweeks.

Dimitri Payet lies in third place for the second successive Gameweek, with 7% of voters liking the Frenchman’s chances away to Sunderland, bearing in mind that the Wearsiders have conceded more goals (16) than any team so far. Payet has delivered attacking returns in all but two of his starts this campaign, underlining the consistency of his output. Diafra Sakho is backed by only 1% of the voters despite notching in three of the four Gameweeks, including strikes on the road against Liverpool and City.

Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are both backed by 4% of voters as Leicester prepare to lock horns with Norwich at Carrow Road. The former has served up five double-figure hauls already, while the latter netted five goals in his previous four outings. The Canaries have yet to register a single clean sheet in the first seven Gameweeks.

Despite bagging a hat-trick last time out against Leicester, Alexis Sanchez scooped just 3% of the votes as Arsenal entertain a United side that’s conceded just five goals this term.

Notching a brace against Aston Villa in just his second league start since vacating the treatment room, Daniel Sturridge has encouraged 1% of to hand him the armband for the Merseyside derby, given that hosts Everton have yet to record a home clean sheet.

Anthony Martial (1%) – who sat atop the summit last Gameweek – plummets down the rankings by virtue of the Red Devils’ much more challenging match-up. The Gunners have conceded just two goals in their home clashes this term, yet the former Monaco frontman looks in fine fettle and has produced points in all three of his appearances so far.

I was in Copenhagen in August. Tivoli might be closed when you visit otherwise it's great if you like old timey rides. Try the Smørrebrød for lunch. Try and take a train along the coast, some great views. I really enjoyed it and wish I could have explored more of the country

I am Danish and used to live in Copenhagen (now London).

      for tourist stuff:
      Christiansborg (Parliament)
      Amalienborg (Queens residens)
Nyhavn (for pints and nice atmosphere)
Church of the Saviour's spiral staircase (if you are not affraid of heights and want a good view of the city)
      'Christiania' if you like weed
'Kødbyen' (Meat packing district) if you like clubbing
'Frederiksberg Haver' if you like smørrebrød/open sandwiches
Rent a bike and cycle around to the different parks, 'Fælledparken', 'Kongenshave'

      Hope you'll like it.

Mane seems to be preferred on here, but Tadic has outscored him so far this season, costing 0.9 less (partly because he has pens).

Who would you go for -

    Tadic (6.9) or Mane (7.8)?

Struggling to decide on who to bench this week

Basically need to bench 2 of the following: Nyom (bou), Evans (cry), Bellerin (MUN), Martial (ars)

Currently looking at benching Evans and Bellerin but not sure.

Really? Not convinced Arsenal will get a clean sheet against United, defence hasn't looked as good in last 5 and no Kosc. And for attacking returns prob better to go for Martial out of the two?

Think Nyom against Wilson-less Bournemouth is less risk than Evans against a very attacking Crystal Palace.

Think your comments making me defend my current choice has helped. 😛

I'm worried about Kompany's fitness. No Kompany and city's cleanies dry up. IMO always pick a defender for CS potential first. Attacking points are a bonus that don't come too often.

Silva vs. KDB in the comparison tools is scarily similar (av. per performance)

Only real differences seem to be that Silva has more touches in the box, but KDB still has more shots!

Do we think that a shift wide for KDB will have a negative impact, or will him and Silva just interchange a lot even if Silva starts in no.10 role?

    1. Harper_

I personally don't think their starting positions matter too much. Both are all over the pitch when they play, and both are fantastic players. De Bruyne is in better form and the new player so I think he'll have more impact than Silva.

I can also see a situation with Silva departing on 70 or so as standard and KDB going into the 10 role when NEW will be tiring or maybe chasing the game i.e. just when you want him to be there...

Good weekend of footy coming up!!

Do we think there will be any big scores on the Super Sunday fixtures?

Im thinking Sanchez might be able to produce a brace...

Should be goals in the Merseyside derby, Sturridge could score a couple I reckon.

    Benching headache!

Which one would you bench out of Martial (ars), Ayew (TOT), or Ighalo (bou)?

      Ayew easily

Noticed I have Kompany, Yaya & Wilson all out injured.

Was thinking of bringing in Ighalo & Kolarov but not sure whether to take ANOTHER hit on replacing Yaya or just wait?

    Thoughts?

With injury's to Koscielny Wilson Kompany Yaya Touré Benteke and question marks about Pedro and Gomis starting i can see a lot of managers been forced into using there wildcard this evening all these with high ownership still and many teams would have 2 if not 3 of these players in there teams spells big trouble for them

At the very least i expect the amount of hits taken to be high

I think many people already used their wildcards to bring those exact players in!
