Sergio Aguero’s Fantasy owners were left sweating this afternoon after a groin injury forced the Argentine out of the Ewood Park thrashing of Blackburn Rovers.

City’s number one forward has, of course, been in sensational form in his debut season, with eight goals seeing him backed by 43.6% of Fantasy managers so far.

Speaking after the 4-0 victory, City coach David Platt had this to say:

“It’s too early at the moment. It’s a groin injury and the early indications are that it is not as bad as we first thought.

“Having said that, if we had a game in the week or next week, he wouldn’t play. With the international break, who knows? It depends how quickly he heals up. It’s probably touch and go for Aston Villa, but we will look at it in the next 48 hours.

“I would think at least two weeks, but I’m no medic.”

With Aguero currently sitting at 11.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), his owners will be desperate for a quick prognosis from the club. Positive news would surely prevent a drop in price, as many Fantasy managers get twitchy with transfers and possibly wildcards over the extended break.

Aguero’s absence, however, would certainly pave the way for Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli to pair up against Villa in the Etihad Stadium showdown- priced at 8.6 and 8.5 respectively, the duo would fancy their chances of ending Villa’s unbeaten start to the season- Roberto Mancini’s side have averaged over three goals per game so far and would expect to see off Villa in a similar vein.

With a trip to Old Trafford following on in gameweek nine, Mancini will surely take no chances with his star forward’s fitness, though, particularly with the Carlos Tevez saga reducing his up front options – confirmation one way or the other will be key to plenty Fantasy plans, then…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This time last year I was propelled to my highest ever postion by having VdV as Capt when few even had him at all. Took a chance on history repeating itself (well apart from the high position) and so far so good! 🙂

Even though it happens every week i can never get my head around the highest weekly score. Imagine having that many players do well in the same GW!!

I think often they are just picking a team for the week and not caring about hits, looking fot moment of fame.

It's still remarkable, even if i just picked a team for the week, it wouldn't do that well. Look at today's for example, GK & all defenders got a cleansheet, plus one assist. All midfielders bar one got a goal or assist or both and all three strikers scored. Crazy.

-1000 How can he not have seen the incident....convenient! Even the MOTD presenters were laughing at Kenny's performance in the interview. It was never a red card, plain and simple...no harm in admitting it, Kenny. It was the ref's decision...be strong enough to talk about it.

There is not enough freedom for his mazy runs. They need an upgraded Reo-Coker for him to work, sadly. Petrov has been awarded license to forage forward - so far unsuccessfully. I suspect he will come good around Xmas, when Big Eck figures out that Petrov is a destroyer, not a creator ...

If I was playing my wildcard this week, Moses would probably be in it. Tru say.

Moses has been playing well though, it just hasn't yet translated into FPL points.

Of all the options at 5.0 or under in midfield, I'd much rather Moses than any of them.

😯 I like to broaden my horizon. Tonight, for instance, I have learned a new term - "Weegie" - which I understand to be a faintly disrespectful reference to people who hail from the region of Glasgow! 😀
