Gameweek 8 saw two more players topple off the Suspension Tightrope as we head into the second international break of the season. Sunderland centre-back Sebastian Coates was the first guilty party after earning his fifth yellow of 2015/16 in the second half of yesterday’s home draw against West Ham.

Coates will now miss the Black Cats’ trip to West Brom next time out as the Wearsiders prepare for life without Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman resigned earlier today.

This afternoon, Coates was joined by Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who has now been booked in five of the first eight league matches in his new central midfield role. The 10%-owned defender, who had been drafted in by over 25,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prior to today’s caution, will now miss the Gameweek 9 home encounter with Liverpool.

Despite losing those two to suspension, the Tightrope now boasts ten faces – three more than last weekend.

Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jack Colback, Billy Jones and Dele Alli all remain on four yellows and are joined by five new entries this time round. City pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernandinho incurred the referee’s wrath in yesterday’s 6-1 romp over Newcastle at the Etihad, whilst West Ham’s Mark Noble is another fresh recruit after collecting a yellow card in the 2-2 stalemate at Sunderland.

Oriol Romeu is also added to the mix. The midfielder picked up his fourth caution in as many league starts for Southampton against former club Chelsea yesterday – he’s managed that feat in just 371 minutes of top-flight action. Earlier today, United full-back Matteo Darmian found his way into the referee’s notebook in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

The weekend brought further woe for the Black Cats, with Jeremain Lens set to miss the Gameweek 9 trip to the Hawthorns. The Dutchman – whose goal in yesterday’s draw means he played a part in five of the Wearsiders’ eight goals under Advocaat – was dismissed after receiving cautions for fouls on Carl Jenkinson and Winston Reid either side of the half-time break against the Hammers.

In terms of newly available players, Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Everton wide man Kevin Mirallas are all in the frame in Gameweek 9 after they served the last of three-match bans for violent conduct this weekend.

GW11 looking like a good time to bring in Lukaku:

    Sunderland (H), West Ham (A), Villa (H), Bournemouth (A), Palace (H), Norwich (A), Leicester (H), Newcastle (A)

There was some guy at the start of the season on here telling us all to buy lukaku for the first 10 weeks and having a reasoned argument for each game. We all laughed at him including me.
Wish I listened. Lukaku is a leave a forget player kind of Adebayor was. Inconsistent unpredictable but gets points.

    Little help?

    Myhill
    Ward, Zouma, Kolarov
    Sánchez, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Payet
    Agüero, Vardy, Gomis

    (McCarthy, Darmian, Westwood, Richards)

    Thinking this before rises...
Darmian > Souare (As an enabler)
    Gomis > Pelle (-4)

I would consider Janmaat, fixtures very good now. Soton next 2 games vs Leicester and Liverpool, don't think they are likely to get any CS. And I would do Zouma > Bertrand after the Liverpool game.

Cedric not a bad option, he is very attacking from his last game, but I will not expect CS from him at least for the next 2 games.

Saints defence looks a good shout for the next few weeks and he is the cheapest way into it on a regular basis.

FWIT -- I was just in the same position and did Skrtl to Dawson to enable Gomis to Pelle for -4.

I feel fine about it. Gomis will probably troll us next GW -- Stoke haven't been that solid away -- but I still needed to get him out. Also, with everything going on at Pool, I am not confident about what they may look like in 2 weeks times. Could be better. Could be worse.

Anyway, I just don't see Gomis as a prolific striker who goes on great runs of points. So, even if he hits a brace next GW and Pelle blanks -- which I half expect because I made the move -- I'm still at peace with it as I look at the next few GW's. Pelle will do better imo.

Ride Pelle for a bit and switch ponies when it's time.

Thanks man. I feel the same about it tbh. I just know Gomis will score next MNF but Pelle is in such great form with better fixtures to come. As a long term move I think I need Saints attack.

My feeling, too. I have no Saints cover and, who knows, Pelle may have actually rounded the corner to become an ex-donkey no longer deserving of his "donkey" label.

Chelsea have favourable fixtures, but they are in bad form and Zouma is uncertain to start.

Darmain is card magnet and subbed off early twice, but at least we know he will start.

          That's something I feel.

    Bottomed

    Butland, Ruddy
    Kolorov, Cedric, Francis, Nyom, RIchards
    KDB, Mane, Mahrez, Ayew, Payet
    Kun, Pelle, Vardy

    1FT 1.4M ITB

I can get Sanchez in with a -4, but would have to sacrifice Ayew and Mane. With the Mids I currently have, not sure that's needed atm. May just spend FT on the defense for now, until WC time. Thoughts?

It's not bad and he'll get you save points but Bellerin and Monreal more likely to get bonus points due to their attacking stats. They'll get the odd assist here and there as well so better value.

On a basic level, SitB conceded & big chances conceded (xGC another big one)

More in-depth & situationaI analysis include any of these combinations: aerial duels lost, headed goals conceded, attempts/goal conceded from set-plays & cross reference the opposing teams tendency to win aerial duels, headed goals/attempts, goals from set plays & who there best target men & free-kick takers are. (Gestede & Eriksen could benefit from this type of cross-analysis, imo)

Also, errors leading to chance if the opponent is a well regarded high-pressing team with a knack for forcing errors. I'll also look at teams that struggle on certain flanks of the pitch, if they have a large amount of chances conceded in that particular zone & look up who's allocated on that particular wing/flank (pacey wingers/FB's vs Ivanovic or FB's who tend to get caught out of position).

You need to fly your house to Oz. Try to land on a witch. If you manage this you can steal her shoes like I did.

Just wildcarded and jumped ~ 2 million spots, but I'm still not completely satisfied with this team...

    Myill, Hennessey
    Kolarov, Evans, Janmaat, Souare, Smith
    Hazard, Sanchez, KDB, Mahrez, Fletcher
    Aguero, Vardy, Ighalo

    0 ITB

I feel like my team structure is terrible because I can't accommodate the standout mid-priced picks like Mane, Payet, Pelle, or Lukaku. Deep down I know that Hazard is to blame, but I've stubbornly decided to stick with him. Any suggestions?

Team looks pretty good to me - everyone who has persevered with the likes of Sanchez and Aguero has had it pay off big time, so doing the same with Hazard isn't madness imo. Chelsea have to start improving soon surely, and he is their best player.

Hey there DZ. Hope we all good FPL weekends. 108 points all out. Back in the top 1k. A veterean/mod finally above me. How was it all for you guys, or have you had this discussion a million times?

    My team as it stands:

    Cech Schwarzer
    Kolarov Bellerin Azpi Cedric Saylor
    Sanchez Mane Sterling Mahrez Drinkwater
    Aguero Sakho Ighalo

    2.0 ITB 1 FT

I should hold on to the WC right?

For my FT I'm thinking of going Sterling to KDB? Anything else? Really gutted I missed a 0.2 swing for that last night.

Yeah, I have a lot of money tied up in defence, which is why I would WC. I would like to upgrade one of Sakho/Ighalo at some point and would need to shuffle the defence in order to do it

Sterling jumps out at me. I dumped him GW 7 and it feels so good to be done with him.

I actually upgraded Sterling to KDB and am quite happy with the decision. KDB will stay in my team, along with Kun for the foreseeable future.

As an owner of an expensive GK (Cech) I think it takes up an unnecessary big team spot. Esp City where you have so many outfield players to choose from, I would wait for Kompany to be fit again anyway before going for Man City defence

I decided to get Mane in for Pedro. I know Mane might be rested v Leicester but his fixtures look too good in the medium term.
I was very tempted to get Cabaye and not Mane, but figured Mane was more explosive of the two options.

I avoided that conundrum by getting rid of my cheap fifth mid (westwood) and going with 5 decent midfielders, the two cheapest starting strikers and aguero.

You can't fit all the players in. I think Mane is better value then Pelle because he gets more points per goal and could get the extra point for a cleanie.
I like Pelle but I think there is better value in midfielders this year.

For those still with a WC there is no better time than now. The big hitters are firing and the expensive defenders aren't as reliable as they once were. It's a great time to rebalance the squad. It might be too late come GW11
