Gameweek 8 saw two more players topple off the Suspension Tightrope as we head into the second international break of the season. Sunderland centre-back Sebastian Coates was the first guilty party after earning his fifth yellow of 2015/16 in the second half of yesterday’s home draw against West Ham.

Coates will now miss the Black Cats’ trip to West Brom next time out as the Wearsiders prepare for life without Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman resigned earlier today.

This afternoon, Coates was joined by Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who has now been booked in five of the first eight league matches in his new central midfield role. The 10%-owned defender, who had been drafted in by over 25,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prior to today’s caution, will now miss the Gameweek 9 home encounter with Liverpool.

Despite losing those two to suspension, the Tightrope now boasts ten faces – three more than last weekend.

Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jack Colback, Billy Jones and Dele Alli all remain on four yellows and are joined by five new entries this time round. City pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernandinho incurred the referee’s wrath in yesterday’s 6-1 romp over Newcastle at the Etihad, whilst West Ham’s Mark Noble is another fresh recruit after collecting a yellow card in the 2-2 stalemate at Sunderland.

Oriol Romeu is also added to the mix. The midfielder picked up his fourth caution in as many league starts for Southampton against former club Chelsea yesterday – he’s managed that feat in just 371 minutes of top-flight action. Earlier today, United full-back Matteo Darmian found his way into the referee’s notebook in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

The weekend brought further woe for the Black Cats, with Jeremain Lens set to miss the Gameweek 9 trip to the Hawthorns. The Dutchman – whose goal in yesterday’s draw means he played a part in five of the Wearsiders’ eight goals under Advocaat – was dismissed after receiving cautions for fouls on Carl Jenkinson and Winston Reid either side of the half-time break against the Hammers.

In terms of newly available players, Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Everton wide man Kevin Mirallas are all in the frame in Gameweek 9 after they served the last of three-match bans for violent conduct this weekend.

    Hello all.

Hazard and Gomis in my team plummeting in value. Both have a good fixture Next gw though. Worth a hit to take them out? Surely I should just stick right?

    Boruc
    Kolorov, Zouma, Janmaat
    Hazard, Sanchez, Mane, Mahrez
    Aguero, Gomis, Ayoze

    0ft 1.3 itb

Boruc will probably get me negative points this week

I took out Pedro and Gomis for a hit a few hours ago. I hit the button with much rage. 🙂
Common sense says stick as both could well score well and prices come and go, however underneath the shiny fixtures lurks darkness at Chelsea and Gomis.

Well it would be -8 to sell both which could easily be outscored if I stick. If I wait until the following gw I can Sell Hazard to Eriksen and then Gomis to Lukaku. Spurs and Evertons fixtures are golden soon. I just lost a lot of TV lately with Yaya, Wilson Gomis, Hazard etc

My team is like a mermaid; Brazilian up top but distinctly fishy down below.

    Kolarov Darmian Cameron Nyom Staylor

Staylor to Dawson or Monreal for a free this week.

Then Souare, TOT, Bertrand slowly in at some point? Anyone else (aside from the NEW rb)?

Was undecided about WCing last night so all i did was swap out Pedro for Mane for free.. Hold on to my WC a little longer? will play it if any injuries hit by the end of the week
    Begovic SCHMEICHEL
    Dawson Williams KOLAROV MUNIESA TARGETT
    Sanchez Payet Mahrez Mane SHELVEY
    Aguero Vardy MARTIAL

Might as well hold on to it right? should be able to crawl all the way through to GW 12(next break) before playing it..

Hey Shifty.. the problem is i'm not sure if i'll make full use of it if i wait any longer. Already losing out on TV/Not sure if i'll leave the safety of the current pool of players if i WC post GW 12 regardless of other teams good fixtures..

Yea I agree with Baps here, try to put a draft and post it over the next couple of days - see what the general feedback is. I think you've identified right areas of improvement.

As for the core of your team, its fine as is - don't see issues there. but agree that the supporting cast could be troublesome really soon.

decent, 101 even with Colo's -1 off the bench thanks to Naughton's absence. Not as good as many here but happy after a few horrible GWs! Vardy and Payet as my FTs last week, happy with that.

Morning All! Feels odd to be moaning after a 90 point week but my team is just so urgh.

    Butland/ McCarthy
    Williams/Richards/ Kolorov/Targett/Gomez
    Pedro/Sanchez/ Mata/ Westwood/ Maherez
    Aguero/Martial/ Vardy

    1FT 1.3ITB

    - Butland, Richards, Gomez, PEDRO are where im looking
    - NO KDB/ Silva is my worry

Plan was Gomez to Bertrand and then Butland to Myhill.
Pedro to KDB now would leave me just .3 to upgrade Gomez. With price changes this will prob be 0 by the end of two weeks.

    Any thoughts?

    1. Jape

I would get rid of McCarthy if you're going to get rid of a keeper.

Yaya's becoming the forgotten man with KDB/Silva getting all the attention.. If he's back in a week or two i may take a punt on him. Will be down to around 8.5/8.6 hopefully. has looked fantastic this season

Love KDB and Silva 🙂 .. though i have neither at the moment and there'll be a 1.9 or so difference between Yaya and KDB when i do get the chance.

Cash. If money no object KDB all day long but the extra means upgrades on other non perfroming/ playing players.

        • 16 Years

And Yaya's not suddenly become a bad option 🙂 .. Course i wish i could get KDB but i got a rule against getting in 2 premium players from the same club cause it restricts captaincy options and funds. Just toooooo many options this year LR. my heads exploding 😆

          • 12 Years

just read this and had a quick think about 2 premium players from the same club...that's a good point. Tricky tricky.

The compelling options are in midfield though. Aguero + one of Pelle/Vardy seem like it could be good for the season if you want to experiment with a 3-5-2.

Kolarov, Dawson, Williams and Gomez. Can't get rid of Gomez yet but Darmian needs to go because he's too expensive and United's defence is poor atm.

Only have 1 free transfer and I want KDB. Not sure about doing -4 for all this though :S

Maybe play 3 at the back the next GW and then get rid of Darmian? If he's going to drop in price then get a Watford defender or Janmaat if you can find 0.2 somewhere

Definitely get KDB in now though.

Not enough funds to do Yaya > KDB so need to gain funds by getting rid of Darmian to a cheaper defender. Not sure if it's worth the -4 that's my only decision, and the defender has to be 4.7 or cheaper.

If you really don't want Darmian then take the hit and get Nyom, Prodl or Souare

@Baps and Shifty.. this would probably be my WC team if i had to click to button

    Howard Hennessey
    Bellerin Bertrand Janmaat Dawson Souare
    Sanchez Payet Mane Yaya/Wally Wanyama
    Aguero Lukaku Vardy

    Would be taking out
    Begovic/Schmeichel/Kolarov/Williams/Muniesa/Targett/Shelvey/Pedro/Mahrez/Martial

    1. Shifty

Some good differentials in there. I wouldn't lose Mahrez just yet.

I would really put some thought into a 3-5-2. Lukaku down to a cheap 3rd striker could easily let you have KDB/Silva ahead of Yaya and Mahrez ahead of Wanyama.

How much would that leave you for a Vardy upgrade?

Gonna act as my first sub/bench attacker.. i usually play with an expensive 5th mid(got Shelvey atm) but using Janmaat as my main sub instead seems a good alternative considerign there are no good defenders starting under 4.3 million

    DDG (Myhill)

    Payet Alexis Barkley Mahrez (Drinkwater)
    Aguero Vardy Pelle

    Team Value: 103.2

    Morning all

Need to know which is more pressing, defence or front three?

    Fabianski - (Schmeichel)
    Francis - Kolorov - Bellerin - (Nyom - Burke)
    Payet - Walcott - Sanchez - Mahrez - (Hoolahan)
    Gomis - Aguero - Sakho

    Ta very much

Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in every game Gabriel bar the game he got sent off vs Chelsea (poor reffing). That's 4 CS in 5 league starts if you count the Chelsea game.

Worth a shout? 4.9 is a cheap way into the Arsenal backline.

Looking at a potential double swap with Darmian and Pedro out for Gabriel and KDB.

My other option is double swoop of SOU boys Mane and Pelle for Pedro and Gomis, and leave Darmian another week.

    Thoughts?

I was just looking at Gabriel this morning also. He gets decent BPs also. The big concern is gametime though. When all 3 CBs are fit I'm not sure if he gets regular starts.

        • 14 Years

I think he is first choice, but in theory what would you prefer going forward:

        Butland McCarthy
        Kolarov XXX Gomez Ward Richards
        Alexis XXX Payet Mahrez Westwood
        Aguero Lukaku XXX

        A) KDB + 4.9 def + Gomis
        B) Mane + Darmian + Pelle (-4)

Tricky. A) with Janmaat/Gabriel probably just edges it due to the -4 and Darmian's gametime potentially being at risk (Gomez/Ward may not start also so you need someone fairly nailed). Gomis at least has the fixtures to turn it around

Oh, and are you dead set on ditching Pedro this week? I have him as well and think he could still do well at home to AVL - usually goals in that game and surely he gets brought back in after the shambles last w/e?

      3-0
      2-1
      8-0
      1-3

Being the last four games. I know Chelsea are in tatters, but so are Villa...

would want to wait until Kosc is fit and see how Gabriel figures into plans.

Can see him eventually usurping Mert. I recall early in preseason Wenger was saying Gabriel would be getting more minutes this season...thought when Wenger settles on a preferred partnership he hardly rotates.

I was thinking about this too.
I did Martial > Pelle last night.and held off making a second for a hit. ( Darmian > Bellerin )

I'm now thinking keep Darmian and sort Gomez out with a move to Gabriel.
