Injuries

Sergio Aguero’s Fantasy owners were left sweating this afternoon after a groin injury forced the Argentine out of the Ewood Park thrashing of Blackburn Rovers.

City’s number one forward has, of course, been in sensational form in his debut season, with eight goals seeing him backed by 43.6% of Fantasy managers so far.

Speaking after the 4-0 victory, City coach David Platt had this to say:

“It’s too early at the moment. It’s a groin injury and the early indications are that it is not as bad as we first thought.

“Having said that, if we had a game in the week or next week, he wouldn’t play. With the international break, who knows? It depends how quickly he heals up. It’s probably touch and go for Aston Villa, but we will look at it in the next 48 hours.

“I would think at least two weeks, but I’m no medic.”

With Aguero currently sitting at 11.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), his owners will be desperate for a quick prognosis from the club. Positive news would surely prevent a drop in price, as many Fantasy managers get twitchy with transfers and possibly wildcards over the extended break.

Aguero’s absence, however, would certainly pave the way for Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli to pair up against Villa in the Etihad Stadium showdown- priced at 8.6 and 8.5 respectively, the duo would fancy their chances of ending Villa’s unbeaten start to the season- Roberto Mancini’s side have averaged over three goals per game so far and would expect to see off Villa in a similar vein.

With a trip to Old Trafford following on in gameweek nine, Mancini will surely take no chances with his star forward’s fitness, though, particularly with the Carlos Tevez saga reducing his up front options – confirmation one way or the other will be key to plenty Fantasy plans, then…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Vorm
Baines Collins Brown De Laet Simpson
    Nani Mata Sinclair Sess Moses
    Agbon RVP Dzeko
Bank = 0.9 FT = 1 (no hits so far)

I def want to do Baines > Enrique for 3 weeks. Been waiting for the MU match to get over, and he's assisted twice in 2 games. Darn!

which one? worth a hit in these cases?
    A. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, De Laet > Naylor, Sess > Murphy (-12)
    B. Baines > Enrique, Sess > Silva (-4)
    C. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, Sess > Murphy (-8)
    D. other.

Also, make changes before price rise/drop OR wait for possible injuries? Options A & C are tight.

I didn't actually.... 😛 but I'm losing my patience. I've had since he was 6.5 & he hasn't delivered. Do you think ppl will stop dropping him cos of yesterday's display?

i'd only consider dropping him for Silva if I were you. But to Murphy (***KLAXON***) or any other in that price range is a waste imo, but B looks good

Is there any visible difference between Baines last season & this season? Where did his points come from last season? Everton are slow starters...is that's all?

No, he got the points people would expect in two of the four easier games. Fixtures for 5wks have tightened up and he is unlikely to get much from them. When things get easier in November, I expect he'll be back getting better scores. He may still be too much for me to get back in, we'll see.

Last season Cahill scored a lot of goals from Baines' crosses. He also scored 2 or 3 penalties in the last few gameweeks which suddenly made +30 points to his total. In my opinion it's up to the penalties if he's gonna match his points total from last season. Too expensive for me.

Yes that's true. I'm hoping his price will drop a lot until christmas & when the double GWs begin he'll be around 7.5 and ready to score.

But for now Bosingwa & Kompany is a much more reliable option to get value for your money.

i have a question for norwich fan

how good of a player is D. Fox?
is he a nailed on starter from now on? i saw him miss a couple games on week 2-4 but then he starts on week 5 onward
With the price of 4.4, he takes corner kicks and indirect FK. i'm looking to transfer him in during the int'l break and give him the bench

beside, who else for a bench warmer??
i currently have Dyer, which i rarely use. maybe its better to sell him off and make some profit

ye it's true, though I don't see him in the points too often. Also too much attacking flare to draw the bonus points.

Definitely Kompany. He's gonna get a nice total of BPs this season. 3 From 6 games already, that's 19 for the season. He even managed to get 1 BP in the 5-1 tot game where Aguero didn't get any even though he scored.

      Too bad I can't have 4 City players =(

When it comes to Richards, he has been dropped for 2 games this season. Spurs and Blackburn. Both teams that playing with a dangerous left winger (Bale and Hoilett).

It seems that Mancini favours Zabaleta experience when it comes to a more defensive role and that Richards raiding style is saved for games where the opposition left side is weaker*.

*I appreciate that Richards played against Bayern (Ribery) - but the beating handed out perhaps strengthens this argument

NewC slightly better 3 fixtures overall. I'd go for it, though for Odems price you could get sturridge, agbon and a other plays with good fixtures.

Wigan have an amazing run so Di santo maybe? I don't think I'd pay more for a wigan player than 5.0 for moses at the minute though.

In case people hadn't noticed, Saturday saw our first entrants into the 2011/2012 tightrope walking competition.

4th yellow cards of the season for Seb Larsson and Lucas mean they are the lucky pair to contest for the prize of that first suspension, with a chance that Arteta, ACole or Lampard will join them if they are booked in the matches today.

Who should I replace first for this round keeping in mind I have a wildcard which I will save till GW11. I have 0.3 in the bank

    Team

    Given, Schwarzer

Kompany, W Brown, Senderos, De Leat, Simpson

S Petrov, Mosses, A Young, Silver, Dyer

    RVP, Suarez, Drogba

I know I need to sell a couple of defenders but I really want Ramsey in the team as the difference is exactly 0.3 if I sell Petrov which is all I have in the bank

So should I Sell S. Petrov for Ramsey

    or

one of W Brown or Senderos for swansea's Taylor or Stokes Woodgate

    Thoughts?

Definitely do Petrov out first - ramsey is a good option.

Sendoros isn't guaranteed game time - transfer him out next

    GW1 Nani 2 points
    GW2 Torres 1 point
    GW3 Torres 1 point
GW4 Dzeko 0 points VC Rooney saved me 17 points
    GW5 Suarez 1 point
    GW6 Mata 3 points
    GW7 Aguero 1 point

So basically what I'm trying to say is... On a saturday morning I'm going to do you all a favour and post my captain on here and then you can change yours if you have the same one, you wont then feel the power of the captaincy curse which seems to hang over me.

I know how you feel =/

And that's why I have decided to always have the same captain. Van Persie for me. That way I'll definitely get the high captain scores but of course the 2 pointers also. Silva, Rooney, Aguero good options too.

onsidering the same thing once Aguero's injured I think I'm going to have him nailed on.

thats unlucky mate ive only had 2 good cap picks so far which is why im behind

ive a good team on paper better than alot but it just goes to show how important your cap pick is in this game towards your points total

HAHA I know, may be I should go on a fast or something. if my captain had done orite I'm sure I'd be doing ok. Just one of those things.

About 3 years ago I had another wierd run of bad luck where I'd transfer a player in and they'd suddenly get an injury, my house mates used to save their transfers to see who I put in haha.

I need thoughts on my team for gw8 as I won't be in town..

    Vorm(Given)
Kompany Bosingwa Ward (Simpson, De Laet)
    Silva Nani Mata Ramsey (Ferguson)
    Adebayor Agbonlahor Rooney

Don't care about De Laet and Ferguson..they're just deadwood.
I planned Jarvis-->Ramsey...leaves me with 0.7 in bank
    Your thoughts?
