Our first members article of the international break arrives this afternoon. Assessing the players by classification across the last four Gameweeks, we look at the impact made by Southampton and City’s new centre-halves, Newcastle’s raiding right-back and Palace’s big Norwegian as Alan Pardew’s defence starts to tighten up.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hey guys, would love some advice on my wc team if you got any suggestions. Think the spine of the team is looking good though the bench and fringe players are a little bit of guess work atm.

    Myhill, Gomes
    Cedric, Dawson, Souare, Francis, Simpson
    Sanchez, Payet, KDB, Mahrez, Fletcher
    Vardy, Aguero, Pelle

Cool, Im trying to play it safe a bit really, playing the long game as im in a few mini leagues where people are ahead of me atm but have some risky teams. think the template should catch up in the end.

Are people thinking that Hangeland is nailed in defence now? Might give me .2 to help upgrade fletcher.

Planning on getting Bellerin and Bertrand in for a blockbuster back 3 to add to a powerhouse front 7 maybe make a real stab at OR rise during November with that.

Who's your 3rd defender Tony? Kolarov?

I am also looking to get Bertrand before GW11. Very nice fixtures and some amazing stats. The price 5.3 is chips for Bertrand

          Kolarov yeah.

I see plans to ditch here already but I'd wanted to see something tangible like a resting or dropping before that.

Hey he could even become ffs differential if people starting dropping him in the short term. A lot of guys I mark myself against all own him so dropping him is a no go move.

As for Bertrand really low ownership could see a Wilson or Mahrez type effect on his price too he could be a real winner in terms of both points and value gains.

Yeah there's no reason to drop Kolarov for now unless he really is dropped by Pellegrini.

Who are your other 2 defenders?

              Defence currently:

              Kolarov, Darmian, M.Richards, R.Martin, Targett

Targett will block a Mané move though that'd be for Mahrez who again I'd like to keep I'd probably like Lukaku for Vardy.

Darmian fixture swing yeah but loves a yc will pick up a ban soon and gets tactically hooked. Those other guys B&B offer bap appeal and attacking returns that Darmain doesn't.

Darmian is someone even I want to get rid of. LvG shows no mercy on him, especially in away games.

I think we both have a long way to go until we get our desired defences. 😉

I've the cash in the attic to have the two Bs in two FTS, injuries forgiving.

It'd be a fairly fixed three maybe get Janmaat as a crazy ass 4th with sub potential.

                  But yeah work to do.

Yeah kinda thinking B&B will be real differentials overall.

And possibly 9pt scoring diffs, the cumulative of the two could be a real rank swing with the ticker appeal.

I haven't had a look at the stats, though they looked really good against West Ham. I remember I was watching the game and I got a bit excited for Sunderland cause the players were playing like they do at the end of the season.

The red card changed a lot and I was disheartened to hear that Dick had left after basically getting the best performance out of his players this season.

Hey guys, just used my wildcard, this is my team right now (in the brackets are my selling prices):

    Gomes (4.5) Hennesey (3.9)
    Kolarov (5.9) Gabriel (4.9) Souare (4.5) Davies (4.5) Cameron (4.5)
    Sanchez (11.1) KDB (10.2) Mane (7.9) Mahrez (6.0) Drinkwater (4.5)
    Aguero (13.1) Pelle (8.0) Vardy (6.6)

I also have 0.2m in the bank.

I think you need to improve the defence a bit. Gabriel looks good for now but he might not be nailed on. Bertrand and Bellerin look really tempting and I'd want them both if I was on a WC.

Yeah, as AK says, Gabriel is the risk there. I've learned recently that opting for these insecure options in the WC can haunt you later, using up precious FT's when you've priorities elsewhere.

Reus, Lewandowski, Hummels, Subotic, Piszczek, Kagawa, Gundogan and Bender cost Dortmund less combined than Adam Lallana cost Liverpool.

They signed those for small fees and turned them into top players. Hummels for example was rejected by Bayern as a youth. Dortmund pay big fees for players now.

The problem is there are absolutely no wingers at Liverpool. Benteke and Firmino were the two biggest signing this year and I didn't understand either of those.

Lewandowski did come deep to spray out the passes, something Benteke is capable of doing. So there's hope, but I just hate the fact that they don't have wingers.

I saw some analysis where the attacking midfielders at Dortmund would come towards the center with the full backs bombing forward. Might work well with Lallana? Its been so long that I don't even remember how Lallana liked to play.

Firmino at No. 10? Where does that leave Coutinho?

        1. Davido989

Coutinho will probably get the free role. Mkhit & Kagawa rotated and interchanged a lot. If JK plays his BVB formation, then I'd expect them 2 to interchange. With Markovic/Ibe/Ings/Milner wide. Rumour has it Markovic will be recalled in Jan

Diego Da Silva Costa 5.2% (Nap for this week)
    Jason Puncheon 4.2%

    Leighton Baines 2.7%(when fit)
    Daniel Sturridge 4.5%
    Pablo Zabaleta 0.7%
Nicolás Otamendi 0.5% (caveat only if he gets a run in the team)
Ander Herrera 1.0% (if/when Rooney gets dropped)
    Daryl Janmaat 2.9%(proud owner 🙂 )
    Georginio Wijnaldum 2.2%
    Ayoze Pérez Gutiérrez 0.7%
    Aleksandar Mitrovic 0.8%

Seen lots of guys over the last few days in a wildcard who have a few risks in their ranks trying to be different. This is great but for me a wildcard is used to try and give you the best chance for points. You can go with the risks but unless you strike gold, which can happen occasionally, generally you will need to use your valuable ft's on shipping out the risks that didn't go so well. Them you get a couple of injuries and you are In a while world of pain. My advice is pick solid players with little risk but allow yourself some leeway to switch it about and take the odd punt to boost your rank.

I mostly agree, but I think it is always OK to reserve a spot for a punt. When on WC is when you are at your strongest, so can best afford to reserve a spot for a punt.
