The EA Index scores for gameweek 7 are now available and the Fantasy Premier League bonus points have now been added to the game. Read on for our breakdown of how these mapped out – we will update you should any EA PPI stats or bonus points be reviewed.

Aston Villa 2 Wigan 0
Agbonlahor 3, Collins 2, Bannan 1

Gabby Agbonlahor was well out in front in the PPI stakes and, with a goal and an assist, there can be no complaints on his 3 bonus award. James Collins put in another strong defensive display – enough to see him earn another couple of bonus, with Barry Bannan adding to his maximum at QPR with another single bonus point – courtesy of his assist in this game.

Blackburn 0 Man City 4
Nasri 3, Johnson 2, Kolarov 1

With a goal and two more assists in this City victory, it’s no shock to see Samir Nasri fetch the top PPI score and help himself to 3 bonus – his first maximum of the season. Adam Johnson’s crucial opener provides him with the platform for his first bonus, while Aleksandar Kolarov picked up the remaining point, edging out David Silva in the PPI stakes with an assist and clean sheet.

Bolton 1 Chelsea 5
Lampard 3, Sturridge 2, Luiz 1

Back in form, back in the goals and subsequently in line for 3 bonus points from Chelsea’s Reebok demolition. It’s no surprise to see Daniel Sturridge pick up the 2, while David Luiz came away with a couple of assists which helped him to an impressive PPI haul.

Everton 0 Liverpool 2
Carroll 3, Enrique 2, Kelly 1

Andy Carroll’s opener sealed him Liverpool’s leading PPI score in the win at Everton. Jose Enrique provided the assist for that opening goal and that helped him to a high ranking and 2 bonus points. Martin Kelly is perhaps a surprise for the single bonus point however – his PPI presumably boosted by the clean sheet, which saw him edge out Luis Suarez by just 2 points in the Index (26 vs 24).

Fulham 6 QPR 0
Johnson 3, Zamora 2, Murphy 1

These always looked cut and dry – Andy Johnson’s hat-trick and Bobby Zamora’s goal and assists settle the top spots in the PPI. Danny Murphy’s spot-kick and assist contributed to him collecting a single bonus; Clint Dempsey was unlucky not to be in line for extra points considering a strong PPI score of 32 on the day.

Man United 2 Norwich 0
Anderson 3, Jones 2, Evans 1

Anderson was clearly out in front when it comes to United’s PPI scores – his opening goal helping him to the maximum bonus here. Phil Jones and Jonny Evans came away with clean sheets and accrued defensive stats that helped them collect the remainder. Danny Welbeck and Antonio Valencia were just outside bonus recognition.

Sunderland 2 West Brom 2
Bendtner 3, Long 2, Elmohamady 1

Nicklas Bendtner earned his first FPL bonus of the season with a goal and an assist in the 2-2 with West Brom. The Baggies’ Shane Long is line for the 2 bonus, with Elmohamady picking up the remainder, just edging out team-mate Seb Larsson.

Swansea 2 Stoke 0
Graham 3, Sinclair & Allen 2

Danny Graham’s first goal in the top flight fetches him the maximum with Scott Sinclair having to share the 2 bonus with Joe Allen who earned an assist. That meant that both Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor – tied on 19 PPI – both missed out.

Tottenham 2 Arsenal 1
Walker 3, Van der Vaart 2, Adebayor 1

Kyle Walker’s winner is enough to earn him the maximum here with Rafael Van der Vaart in on the act courtesy of his opening goal. Adebayor provided the assist for that strike – no surprise to see him collect the remaining bonus then. Aaron Ramsey was just a single PPI point from sharing that bonus.

Wolves 1 Newcastle 2
Gutierrez 3, Tiote 2, Cabaye 1

No real surprise here – Gutierrez scored the decisive second goal with Cabaye providing the assist for Ba’s opener. Tiote presumably collected some impressive performance statistics to help him to 2 bonus – we will break those down in detail over in our Scout bonus breakdown at the FPL later today.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Wow...I realise that this season is still pretty fresh to begin with but I have to say it has been a leveler of note. 1 BP for the gameweek, Aguero as my captain...Bos off before the 60 min mark...Old Fantasy form players remaining anonymous for this season...Fixture rotation proving to be less reliable than ever before...Could I seriously be wishing that this season was over so I can begin a new one from scratch? This comment is really just me expressing my astonishment at how "mean" this game can be...I will take my humble pie and sit quietly in the corner thank you very much.

With tactics seemingly "out of order" (well least mine seem to be) I spose this season could now be down to trying out new experiments for future seasons. If anyone is reading this...and is in the boat I'm in...or has found a way out...which way is it to the light?

I wish we had a happier BP system going cause clearly Smeagol's (Old BP system) transformation into Gollum (New BP system) is a far less friendly character to deal with. Oh well...

I get the impression that average rank of an FFS poster is down on last year and although there are probably many temporary reasons for that the new BP system is likely going to be the toughest for the more experienced player to overcome. Those of us who have been playing this game a while have become accustomed to working out who the BP gods favour and it wasn't unusual in previous seasons to pick up ten points a week just by having the ADams and Zogs etc who get the baps come hell or high water. It could be worth 200 points a season with captaincy taken into account and this advantage for the experienced player has been wiped out entirely. That's probably no bad thing, but it's going to take a lot of adjusting to get used to it.

I agree with both of you. For new players the game is probably fine. But this is my fourth year playing and I can't get my head around it all. The games are very unpredictable too. I would have laughed my head off if someone said Fulham would win 6-0. I agree Blu, I've pretty much given up on doing well this season so now I'm going for a bit of experimentation.

im exactly the same Hybrid. Was fully comfortable 'reading' the bonus points for the last 2 seasons. Cant get it this year.
That said, it seems VERY counter intuitive. How can (as Graville suggested) a shot off target count for -50% of a goal!!? It automatically benefits strikers who arent involved in games for 88 mins, but then get a tap in. Not sure that is really what 'bonus' points should be for, but there we go

Agree with all your both saying. However the seasons just started, like your saying adjust to the new BP system, theres along way to go. Your season could be turned round in a few gameweeks. Also theres a whole load of differentials starting to open up that you can exploit. Time to use all this experience, and push all the casuals aside, good luck.

        +1
Also the players that people would obviously pick ie. Rooney, Nani, Aguaro to name just a few have done very well so far. The outside bets like Sess, Moses and SWP have not.
Which means eveyone is scoring roughly the same

Yeah...well said...didn't think of it like that...good angle to consider. It's kinda like the new defensive tactics / system in Fifa...going to make a lot of good player look like average players. I guess it's time to work out what that new angle is...

I know there has been much speculation about what the system spits out, what stats could help us determine who's in favour for Baps but are there any specifics that have had a better success rate...in most cases scoring goals gets you the points but what else is contributing because most of us are running blind...when we see players like Suarez, etc playing the way they do and not getting anything it is hell-of-a confusing...you got any ideas?

I was just thinking this. Before we could at least speculate as to why Adebayor got 1 BP. Now its just a random number assigned to him for unknown reasons.

I haven't really analysed the new BP system in any detail, if what Granny says is true and shots off target have a devastatingly negative effect on PPI scores then perhaps there would be some benefit in having big centre forward type players who tend to end up getting their chances at closer range than the striker who "plays off" the big guy, but I don't know if there's any evidence to back that up.

One thing I've noticed (and this might be flat out wrong) is that the new BP system appears to award points for things that points are already awarded for i.e. goals. The old system seemed to dish out more points to the people who contributed to the victory but didn't see that contribution rewarded with points for goals or assiss etc.

That said the old system did seem to dish out 3 BPs for high profile, high ownership strikers who would do nothing all game then slot in an 85th minute penalty, so perhaps rewarding all goal scorers more is more consistent in that respect.

Ultimately I'm probably talking out of my arse here, it would probably take an exhaustive memebrs article by a scout to get a more authoritative picture.

This is exactly why i went for Hernandez. His overall shots to shots on target ration is brilliant. Little did i know he'd be crowded out by 4 Norwich defenders and go off after 60mins though 🙄

As a first time FPL player, this may be a stupid question - but wouldn't the game be fairer without bonus points? Would take the ambiguity out of the scoring surely?

That's certainly an idea, I think they do need to re-assess what they want bonus points to achieve and examine whether the PPI system achieves that. I can see a case for finding a way to reward match winning performances that aren't reflected in the traditional scoring - the current system doesn't seem to do that, the old one did to a degree, but was incredibly opaque and inconsistent. Maybe the most logical thing to do would be to drop the whole thing as you suggest.

i'm only replying because you reeled me in by describing my gw exactly!! The only light i've seen is the use of my WC.. if you have not played yours already. My team had an absolutely terrible start to the season, i tried to have faith in previous fantasy favorite n'zogbia and bent, never again will i invest i A-Villa. Sess another to name to blame for the hair pulling. But, i've come alright after my WC, took a punt on VDV and thats currently working out. So my only suggestion is to play your WC, if you already have then just make all the tranfers you need to make and just take all the hits, its worth it rather than sticking with a cr*p team.

Yo kats26...I actually think my team is pretty decent bar one or maybe two slots...the issue is, as stilicho noted, most likely down to the BP system and the lack of hattrick heroes (and captain choice has been pretty crappy so far too). Have a look and see:

        Given, Begovic
Bosingwa, Warnock, Brown, S Taylor, Ward
        Mata, Silva, SWP, Brunt, Dyer
        Suarez, Ade, Aguero

As you can tell I would have played Brown when Taylor scored a cleanie and vice versa...I would have played Brunt for his sub role of 1pt when Dyer got a goal...So fixtures have hurt me with my selections...then drop the BP system in which I now must find a solution to...

ahhhhh now i see what you mean, yeah, it would be an absolute waste to play a WC on your team. Yeah, i totally agree with you on the BP system (as well as the new defensive system!!!) as well as the lack of BP's for Suarez.

I must admit...I've already worked on solutions for the new defensive system with pleasing results...but there ain't no amount of tips and hints to help with this season's FPL...it really is luck of the draw...right now...All I would like is one gameweek where I score huge...just to reassure me that it's all still worth my effort...

So why have they done it, to rule out bias?

I mean before, there were people sat in the stands watching the game and awarding points to the truely outstanding contributors.

Now a computer (OH MY... THEY ARE TAKING OVVEEERRRRRR) takes in all of the stats, calculates and spits out the BPs right?

There's alot to a game that cannot be accounted for by simple stats.

I think in their "honest" attempt to find a "preferred" solution to the BP system they somehow got caught out. Problem is that in most ways the game has aligned itself with most other games now...not sure if any deal with price rises too but obviously luck is now a far bigger factor than perhaps skill...kinda makes the odd bandwagon more of an "ok" thing to jump onto than previous times...In saying that, the latest revelation of a missed shot costing a striker 50% of their score (when scoring a goal) seems pretty silly to me. Also...a miss of a few inches is tabled the same as I miss that lands in the car park...both shots missed but one is far worse than the other (I'm rambling I know)...I don't gamble cause my luck isn't quite that advanced and this season does seem to rely on those skills at the moment. Oh well...

Lost count of how many misplaced passes happened yesterday from midfield. Arteta is a joke. I'd wait for the next two home games to pass, then ship RVP if Arsenal are still misfiring.

I dont think he will be dropped, not with our midfield options! He plays 90 minutes every week, and can be forgiven for having a bad game at WHL.

I think he is a better option than Ramires, and cheaper, and with great fixtures.

I think at 6.3 he is a steal! And 3 assists and 1 goal in the last 3 games shows he is getting forward enough.

I did Brunt->Ramsey last night (and yes, I know there are internationals, but I needed to beat any price rise/fall)

I have gone with Ramires, expecting to buy van Persie. But yesterday he seemed to be doing the midfield's job for them, and was usually at the wrong end of the pass. So until Arsene sorts out this problem, I may hold off and get three Chelsea ...

There was a perfect through ball to RVP that Gervinho literally stole from his feet and then ruined the chance.

Sunderland at home are worlds apart from Tottenham at WHL though, and I see Arsenal beating them convincingly, so Id probably hang tight. Sunderland are about at crap at Bolton these days!

I thought that Arsenal at times looked good offensively. It's all just very hit and miss. If RVP was upfront for ManCity he'd be on 15 goals by now.

I wouldn't be as critical of Ramsay as others, although I cannot disagree with the amount of times he gave the ball away. Song seems to be the only player capable of making a killer ball through.

I loved that Szczesny went up for the corner, 2 in the last few minutes, both awful... Sumarised the game really. Although I still think Arsenal should have won it based soley on performance.

well we did concede a handball goal and then a pretty decent strike that the keeper might have done better on.

And against blackburn it was 2 SH*T own goals and an offside goal.

We werent terrible, and we owned the first half, but there is never a sense of urgency about them, even when chasing the game.

Benayoun was just awful when he came on

    BPs this week

    Jones - 2
    Sinclair - 2
    Adebayor - 1

Seems a decent enough haul but very surprised by Suarez' exclusion.

Didn't see much football this weekend, out all day yesterday and spent most of Friday and Saturday tearing my hair out trying to defend on Fifa 12.

How did my 6th captain fail of the season i.e. Nani and United in general play?

Cool. I just assumed he would get some because he scored which has been the rule of thumb thus far.

The general jist of most of the comments on this article seems to be he was penalised for shots off target.

Fwiw, IT, I don't agree that shots off target are as big a minus as is proposed by the Scouts. I think his general demeanour and play yesterday were poor(Not widely shared, I know), and he may have been penalised for his persistent diving ...

The new BP system makes all his good play irrelivent though (which is why I hate it). He'll get points for if he scores or assists, which he's doing intermitently. Anything else is now a moot point.

Mad that I'm still considering/trying to work Baines into my team after the next game week? I just feel that aside from the big-midfield-hitters from the Manchester clubs, there's no real prospects around the 8mil range. Thinking about pumping the cash in to Baines as he's still got the CS potential, as well as possible assists and goals, and he's usually a sure-fire for bonus points should Everton win.

The whole Rooney thing has really messed up the early season.

Get Rooney, captain him, points haul sorted.

Now its time for those of use with squads to come through, Rooney getting the same/less points than someone who costs less than 8.5, those extra funds getting put to use.

this is a good week to show the foolishness of having Ferguson. In weeks like this your cheap players should shine...those chances drop markedly for Ferguson owners.

Lots of wildcards have been played, injuries will mount up and then what are you left with. simpson off your bench, perhaps a stoke player or a swansea player....all ok choices if the chips are down...but those with Ferguson there is nothing but a big black hole saying "why did I get a non playing player in my team?"

PS - Charles Hawtrey is still available for 1m as a mid...any takers?

Actually, I've noticed one of the rules which consistently works for my fantasy team. After an absolutely dreadful week, it's better not to touch your team at all (unless there are some injuries or players being dropped). There is some kind of bouncing back which brings good points next week. All the little changes I make (like rotating defenders, changing captain) have a negative effect. No touching at all is the rule.
