Barring the unthinkable, Kevin Davies will be sitting on 54 points in the Fantasy Premier League this evening. His brace of goals and the smart assist for Martin Petrov’s late fourth in the win over Spurs will surely earn him the maximum Bonus Points. That would move the Bolton striker onto 14 Bonus Points overall – more than any other Forward in the game.

The underdogs and the unfashionable were always in with a chance of shining this weekend. With some of the FPL’s top individuals – Rafael Van der Vaart, Nani and Florent Malouda all possibly missing out, the opportunity was always there for the unsung heroes to step forward and save the Gameweek. Ji-Sung Park stepped out of Nani’s shadow and duly obliged over at Old Trafford, but in Fantasy terms, they don’t come more unsung than Kevin Davies.

As usual the Bolton striker was heavily involved throughout today’s game. His Bonus Point popularity may well be a mystery to some, but for those familiar with his influence and contribution to the cause, it’s no surprise. Our Members need only cast an eye over the Opta stat tables, paying particular attention to “Touches”, “Passes Made”, “Key Passes” and “Successful Passes in the Oppositions Half”, to get a view on how Davies compares to the rest of the league. He is without doubt one of the most influential strikers around. In the FPL, that will always make up for his lack of goals – particularly in a Bolton side bereft of stars.

Having earned 18 Bonus Points last season, with 12 the season before that, Davies is on his way to having his best ever season in that area. As for goals, spot-kick duties can only help the cause, as demonstrated today. With 4 goals to his name so far, and a couple of assists to back them up, there’s every reason to expect Davies to notch his best ever FPL points tally.

While Fabio Capello has taken notice, Fantasy Managers have chosen to pass. Priced at 6.3 and with Johan Elmander a cheaper and more fashionable option, Davies seems unlikely to pick up huge interest, even after today’s 16 point haul. Two away fixtures at Everton and Wolves may also put off investors. Bolton have not yet failed to score on their travels however, and once through that pair of away games, Bolton enjoy three home fixtures in four, with Newcastle, Blackpool and Blackburn all visiting the Reebok. Davies has every chance of getting himself on our Christmas wishlists.

Along with Elmander, Davies is this evening amongst the top six strikers in the FPL. Only the Drogba/Anelka fair better as a pairing. Few could have predicted such success for the Bolton attack at the start of the season – a fitting scenario on a day for the underdog.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

We did play a weakened team today though, but I havent seen the game so dunno how bad/good he was.

not to get too deep into it, but ive been on the cusp of 20 grand in the last 2 weeks only for bizarre draws to creep up and snatch it out from under me. Bizarre rugby draws ye know. Im not a very religious or superstitious person, but i think someone is trying to push me sumewhere, or in some direction. ANd before any smartass says stop gambling, im actually up about 70 quid over the week.

The annoying this is that with 2 assist I bet he's have got 1 or 2 bonus points. I may be biased but I thought he deserved some anyways. He should have scored, but Davies and himself ran the defence ragged.

Fabrice Muamba robbed Sandro in the middle and Taylor slipped the ball through to Davies, who - a yard offside - collected and slammed low into the corner.

The thing that stumped me was that they gave it to Taylor - fine ok, but then quote Opta (well OptaJoe):

OptaJoe on Twitter: "2 - Johan Elmander has assisted more goals in this match (2) than he had in his last 40 Premier League appearances put together (1). Creator."

Had Coleman and Elmo do alright for me obviously. Got Cech, Cole, Fabs (c), Nasri, Yaya, Drogba and Carroll to play tomorrow with Williamson coming in for Nani.

Ya but he would prob be bench fodder for a while from then.Im looking at him for this week and then also to create some cash.
He would allow me to have
Cole, Coleman, Elmo, VDV,Nani,Fabs, Drogba, Carroll, Tevez.

Dont know if its worth it yet.But looks so nice.

                What price?4.6 mil

Id dont see any beyond Albrighton , Barton, Morrison,

If I went for that excellent core of players above it would mean missing out on Jarvis for a few weeks which isnt the worst considering that list of names.
Id have 8 excellent options for next month or so.

You can propably heat in water but not boil, tricky telling what is too hot though. Otherwise it has to be opened.
WHY am I even thinking of ways to do it?

It must be to forget the injustice of N'Zog's disallowed goal.

I don't know about that, would rather Nasri score a hat trick, that's my only chance of salvaging something for this week.

overall ranking went from 5900+ to 13000+ probably the biggest drop in my entire FPL history

I've usually got a couple of defenders that i worry about but always find midfield and forwards end up taking priority! In my opinion defender transfers are a luxury when the rest of my team is spot on(or so i think!)

How much money do you have, Coleman, Salcido, Elmohamady, Jones(Blackburn), and Samba are probably all better bets than Foley and Givet. Wait for news on Salcido though, don't know why he went off early today. Also Ridgewell I believe averages more points per minute than Johnson. Check the fixtures and see who has the more favourable fixtures before you decide. I went with Salcido and Coleman this week, I thought O'Shea wasn't going to play today.

I got rid of Nani for Arteta (c) last minute this morning for a 4 pointer when up to that point I had decided to go for Park (c) given Man Utd's weak midfield I really had a gut feeling he would shine, but didnt have the guts to do it. Now don't I feel gutted!

There has been some debate over whether the first Bolton goal was assisted by Elmander or not. Check out this link:

          http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/chalkboards/create

...and then choose season 2010/11, then Bolton, then click on Elmander and then choose 'goal events'. It clearly shows that he made the vital pass to Davies on 31 minutes.

          So, Elmander assist 100%.

What's annoying is that had he correctly been given it at the time, when it came round to deciding BP's, the judges may have given him 2 or 1 bonus, as a result of him setting up two of the goals. However, when they see just the single assist there, they may just think that he hadn't contributed enough and so gave him zero bonus.

Once at half time in the Bolton v Spurs match, and then once more at 5:00pm before the bonus's were out, in order to try and get the assist corrected before the judges got together to deliberate over the BP awards! 😉

Shawcross is a bit annoying though. If Malouda doesn't play then he comes on for me... Well if any of the following don't play then he does (Drogba, Cashley, Carroll, Fabregas)

I keep telling myself Shawcross will come good. Losing patience with him though. Figueroa out is my priority. Considering Berbatov and Figueroa to Elmander/Davies and Cashley.

I got Alcaraz (+1) if Malouda does not play, so I don't care anymore. Anything from him is fine - cept the red. Drogba, Fabs, Carroll and Konchesky I need points from.
