634x258 Suspensions

Five players toppled off the Suspension Tightrope this Gameweek, as James Milner, Jeffrey Schlupp, Erik Pieters, Fernandinho and Jack Colback totted up their fifth cautions of the campaign and incurred a one-match ban.

Fortunately for the former quartet, they will serve out their suspensions in Capital One Cup clashes in midweek. Colback, on the other hand, misses Newcastle’s home tie against Stoke next Gameweek as the Magpies were knocked out in the previous round of the competition by Sheffield Wednesday. The midfielder was already a doubt for the Potters clash anyway, after he was forced off early in the second period due to a challenge from Lee Cattermole – early reports indicate he left the stadium on crutches.

In terms of other new suspensions, Fabricio Coloccini received a straight red for a foul on Steven Fletcher that led to the Black Cats’ penalty opener. Like Colback, he’ll be unavailable for selection when the Magpies welcome Stoke to St James’ Park, though reports this evening suggest that the Tyneside team are set to appeal the decision.

Post match, Magpies manager Steve McClaren clearly felt that whistler Bobby Madley made a match-changing error:

“It’s simple: he’s wrong in my opinion. Referees are part and parcel of the game and you control your performance – you can’t control the opponent or the referee and they can affect the result, and they have done today, not so much the opponent, but definitely the referee.”

McClaren’s opposite number, Sam Allardyce, also reckoned the dismissal was a little harsh on the Argentine:

“We’ve taken full of advantage of a piece of good fortune. I did think it’s a foul, personally. I’ve had a look at it. If he hadn’t made contact with him, I think Steven Fletcher would have scored. It was on his left foot, on his best side. It [the red card] is a bit harsh, but those are the rules and we’ve taken full advantage of that today. We had a harsh decision go against us last week, this week it went for us. I thought it was a penalty. The fortunate thing is the sending off”.

Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Everton veteran Gareth Barry were both given their marching orders for two bookable offences but also fulfil their obligations in midweek cup matches. Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is unconcerned over Barry’s midweek absence for a home clash with Norwich, claiming “he was going to be rested anyway”.

Sadio Mane was sent off in a farcical turn of events at Anfield, entering the referee’s notebook twice in stoppage time after bagging an equaliser in the 85th minute. Much to the relief of his 9% ownership, the Senegal international serves his time when Saints play host to Aston Villa in the League Cup, returning for a tasty home fixture against the Cherries.

Elsewhere on the Tightrope, Jonjo Shelvey edged one step closer to a brief spell on the sidelines, earning his fourth yellow of the season. Ciaran Clark, Eliaquim MangalaMatteo Darmian, Oriol Romeu, Billy Jones, Dele AlliMark Noble, Erik Lamela and Claudio Yacob make up the numbers in a ten-strong band of miscreants.

Dwight Gayle completed his one-match ban and returns to Crystal Palace’s squad for their home encounter against Manchester United next Gameweek. With Connor Wickham still uncertain to recover in time from a calf complaint, the 5.1-priced marksman is likely to lead the line ahead of Fraizer Campbell and Patrick Bamford.

As always, mainly thanks to our resident Tightrope expert Anorak, who has been keeping us up-to-date via his twitter stream.

Mine has to be Siggy (C) against QPR last year during Xmas, I still have no idea how he blanked that game, and of course Aguero(VC) had a haul that week against Sunderland.

YYT should have played a step back and play long ball forward to change the game and use the heading skills of Bony instead of trying to play the number 10.

    Payet / Mahrez / Mane / KDB / Sanchez

    or

    Payet / Mahrez / KDB / Sanchez
    Bony,Lukaku,Kane / Vardy / Pelle

2 FT, 1 of which is reserved for Sakho to Bony/Lukaku.

I think I can upgrade my defence slightly, which currently is:
    Cedric // Kolarov // Bellerin // Fancis // Targett

Obviously Targett will need to go at some point, but I will do that one WC at some point, not really a priority at this stage.

I'm thinking I could upgrade Cedric, or possibly Francis, but I dont really want to have too much tied up in defence for when I wont to get Aguero back. Van Dijk and Coleman are the options I'm considering.

Van Dijk - Yes its a sideways move, but he has better goal threat than cedric, and he's more nailed on. Southampton have a decent run of fixtures, so their CS prospects may improve also.

Coleman - Much better attacking returns, and Everton have decent fixtures coming up, but they have been pretty hit and miss at the back so far this season.

Could possibly do Francis to Nyom, but I think that's a waste and better left until I have a FT to burn!

    What are peoples thoughts here?

Moving on from the fact that i almost did Martial -> Kane(c) but midweek decided to do the more sensible Richards -> Toby, what are your thoughts on this weeks move? I'm thinking Martial -> Bony as i've lost hope that LVG will play him uptop. Costa does have decent three fixtures and Bony has a higher upside than Lukaku for the next two.

    Thoughts? (1FT 1.3M)

    Butland McCarthy
    Kolarov Bellerin Toby Francis Prodl
    KDB Sanchez Payet Mane Westwood
    Vardy Costa Martial

I think I'm going to give Bony a shot - Norwich next, and then Villa, so if he cant score against them, then no idea why City bought him. Was tempted with Lukaku, but he's so hit and miss...

So I'd say, Martial to Bony is a good shout.

Thing is Costa is my place holder for Kun so getting Bony means a dual hit two weeks later.

Lukaku is the more 'sensible move' but the more sensible move cost me this week.

Ahh I see. Can you afford to hold Lukaku when Aguero is back? I have a very similar team, and I think my front line will have to be Aguero, Vardy and Ighalo...

Good point. I can't. I am a million short which means i'll need to shuffle my team somewhere anyway. My midfield is pretty solid so it does mean Bony is a good punt.

tbh, I think its a bit of a coin flip between Lukaku and Bony, but City are scoring more, and at least some should come through Bony.

TBH Other midfielders available with higher probability of getting more points. May do well against Norwich but no point getting him only to replace him later

ye i want to cap him as well when most will cap kdb , he has so much more goal threat than kdb specificlly when kdb out on the wing . i think it could be worth it cos it could be another hattie against norwich

You can get Lukaku if it suits ur team better. Only suggested Martial will give u an extra option if ManU plays a weak team, cannot do that with Westwood.

West Brom focuses more on defense. Max Leicester will score will be 1 goal. Getting Vardy this week might not be a good option. His price has already gone up, so another 0.1 will not make much of a difference.

West Brom next followed by Watford and Newcastle. I see decent point potential for Vardy.

The team already has Mahrez in it. Everton & Spurs also have good fixtures hence should get atleast 1 player from these teams.

    Butland
    Moreno Kolorov Nyom
    Sanzhez payet KDB Mahrez
    Pelle Martial Vardy

    Sub : Mccarthy, Hazard,Francis, Targett

Thinking of ditching Hazard. Who is the replacement?
    1) Mane (tempting - will give him the armband)
    2) Yaya
    3) Barkley

Is it OK to have Mane since i already owned Pelle? Thinking of benching Mahrez@Martial

Will you be getting Aguero in when fit?

I think Everton and City have better fixtures than Spurs over the next couple, and then Aguero will be back, so you might be reshuffling your front line soon anyway.

Who are good differentials to have for this team? I feel I have too many high ownership players.

I want to downgrade my DF and MID to play 343.

I am selling Dawson after Leicester game.. tough fixtures coming up. Need to downgrade a midfielder too. Ayew? Mahrez?

    Butland

    Dawson, Bellerin, Cedric, Smalling

    Sanchez, KDB (c) , Payet

    Vardy, Pelle, Bony

    Subs: Mc, Ayew, Mahrez, Richards

Almost the same front 8 as mine except for Bony. Unnecessary changes imo.

Don't you think I should sell Dawson or Cedric? I think having Smalling, Bellerin + one of my 5.0 defender is enough. That will give me 0.5 -0.6 o spend elsewhere.
          To:
          Nyom/ Ward (when fit)/ Morgan

Would suggest to retain both mids atm. Mahrez is technically a low cost player given when u purchased him. Should get an Everton or Spurs player this week though imo.

Thanks. I got Mahrez at 5.5. Must keep him. Will probably keep Ayew for now for the fixtures after Arsenal game. I think I will probably bench either every week. Pelle, Vardy, Bony shouldn't be benched though I did bench Pelle against Liverpool.
