Everton are set to be without Phil Jagielka for eight-to-nine weeks, according to Roberto Martinez. United’s Antonio Valencia is forced off with a foot problem, Bojan and Marc Muniesa are early doubts for Stoke’s cup encounter with Chelsea, whilst Harry Kane reveals he’s been playing with a knee knock in recent outings..

Arsenal
Per Mertesacker sat out Arsenal’s home tie against Everton due to illness. In his press conference earlier today, though, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the German international has now recovered and will be available for selection when the Gunners lock horns with Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup tomorrow.

Crystal Palace
Pape Souare was sidelined due to injury for the Eagles’ 1-0 defeat at Leicester City, according to the club’s official website. At present, no word has been given on the severity of his complaint.

Everton
Phil Jagielka faces around two months in the treatment room after damaging medial ligments in his knee during the second half of Everton’s trip to Arsenal. Earlier today, Roberto Martinez rolled out an update on the centre-back, who has been the only defender to start every league match for the Toffees so far this term:

“The medial ligament is affected and it’s an injury that is quite straightforward. It’s hard to tell [how long he will be sidelined for]. The medial ligament depends on what area there is damage to determine how quickly you can recover. At the moment we are going to make sure he gets the right course of treatment. I wouldn’t expect anything longer than eight to nine weeks. There is no other damage to the meniscus or the cartilage. The cruciates [ligaments] are very strong. After the game, we expected the worst especially the way the injury happened and rotating the knee – it could have been anything”

Manchester United
Louis van Gaal revealed that Antonio Valencia sustained a foot injury in the first half of the Manchester derby and was eventually forced to withdraw at the 81-minute mark, making him a doubt for the Red Devils’ home encounter against Middlesbrough in the League Cup:

“He had a kick on his foot in the first half and then I let Darmian warm up on the touchline. But then he played further. However, at the end, he could not continue.”

Newcastle United
Jack Colback is set to be assessed by the Magpies’ medical staff after leaving Wearside on crutches after he was forced off early in the second period due to a hefty challenge from Lee Cattermole. Regardless, Colback picked up his fifth caution of the season at the Stadium of Light, ruling him out of the Toon’s home fixture against Stoke City next weekend.

Norwich
Canaries frontman Dieumerci Mbokani – who has netted in two of the last three Gameweeks – is a minor doubt for the midweek cup trip to Everton due to illness, manager Alex Neil has revealed:

“I think Dieumerci Mbokani has picked up a little bug, flu-type thing, so he has to shake that off but other than that the rest of the squad is fine. Potentially that could rule him out but we’ll see how he recovers from it.”

Stoke City
Geoff Cameron had to be replaced nine minutes into Stoke’s head-to-head with Watford after damaging his thigh while challenging Troy Deeney for possession. Mark Hughes initially expected the US international to be missing for a couple of weeks but rolled out a more positive prognosis this afternoon:

“It looks like a grade one tear so hopefully he might have a chance for the weekend.

Hughes also confirmed that the Potters have a couple more concerns ahead of their midweek cup clash against Chelsea, with Marc Muniesa and Bojan looking doubtful:

“Marc Muniesa has got a slight (thigh) problem, but we are likely to give him another 24 hours. Bojan has an issue with his toe. He’s got a really bad blister on it and it’s hampering him, so we will have to see if it settles down.”

Sunderland
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s derby win over Newcastle with the Black Cats nursing injury concerns over a trio of players. After the 3-0 triumph, the Sunderland boss conceded he’s sweating on the fitness of John O’Shea, Younes Kaboul and Ola Toivonen:

“John has got a hamstring. Ola did his groin and Younes Kaboul has a calf problem. The only disappointing thing for us was the three injuries. We will have to see how they are for next week. We may get one out of the three fit. I won’t be sure until two or three days into this week and these injuries have settled down.”

Tottenham Hotspur
Harry Kane had heavy strapping on his knee during Spurs’ win over Bournemouth and midweek Europa League meeting with Anderlecht, having suffered a minor knock against Liverpool in Gameweek 9. The Lilywhites’ premier frontman insisted that the strapping is just a precautionary measure and he’ll be at 100% when Villa pay a visit to White Hart Lane next Monday:

“I’m not far off. It was a little niggle I picked up against Liverpool and we didn’t want to risk it midweek. The manager makes his decisions about who plays. I was fully fit for the Bournemouth game and I was always going to be playing. That showed with the performance. The strapping on the knee is a precaution. We haven’t got a game until next Monday now so by then it should be 100 per cent.”

Dunno when you got Pelle in but given that he faces the same team that was kind to let Kane score a hattrick at home---I think it's reasonable to give him at least 1 more GW.

I'd only do that if I had 2 FT, and no other clear needs. Pelle is home to a weak defense, and could flourish. Assuming you have 2FT and seemingly nothing to do, maybe you have a least a keeper or cheap defender need?

Kane / Pelle -- keep the one you have. Sell Pelle in two weeks if he looks bad this week (because he is away to Sunderland next, and that could be a good opportunity, too).

Lukakus fixtures are surely too good to ignore?

It's either him or Bony in for Martial.

          😀
Well I meant I'm ignoring Lukaku, I haven't got Martial and I don't think I will do any time soon.

Bony is the option I'd consider.

If I get Lukaku I think I have to keep him long term as that's the kind if player he is.

The reason I like the Bony option is

            1) He's well capable of scoring vs. 2 of the weakest defences in the league.

            2) I don't have to worry about getting burned by him when I replace him with Kun.

Lukaku 's fixtures are unbelievable though..

If you have a vacancy (I guess Martial), then Lukaku is certainly a prime candidate. Bony or Kane, too. Toss up really. I have Pelle, so am not shopping there myself, but if I had to choose, I would probably go with Kane as to me, he seems like more of a natural scorer (with his grand 4 goals this year, I know...).

I have Mane and the other S'oton defender (Cedric) myself and I'm quite happy with them.
VVD is probably more goal threat than Cedric, so it should be fun!

and Kolarov is Kolarov - there is always some hazard in having him.

Ooooo, on paper I like it. Clearly two huge upgrades there...The decision point is Kolarov given that Clichy is healthy again. Clichy may introduce some randomness to Kola's playing time. Are you comfy with that? Is there another defender who could get you what you are seeking in Kolarov (e.g. Kompany, Coleman, Smalling)?

I can easily do Kompany, not keen on Coleman to be honest. Maybe Smalling, but i would go DDG over Butland i believe. With these three moves i would have 0.2 itb which is kinda sad after having 5.4!

So i would have to go without Man U cover. Not sure how keen i am on that, but this at the moment seem the two most sensible moves regarding fixtures. (Maybe Sterling for Mane but would have to compensate on other places)

To be quite honest i do not see Kola being rotated. Clichy might get an odd appearance in CL or something, but i think Kola is as nailed as it gets

IDK, Prophet. That might be how we fans want to see it, but Pellegrini likes to rotate his players based on opponents. Kola is more attacking, and Clichy more defending, and I can see the coach switching them up based on the actual fixture. I could be wrong, but that seems to be Pelle's MO.

Back to your other post: I think Man U cover would be DDG or the pricey Smalling. Their offensive production is spread out. Coleman: I actually have him, but with Jags out, his clean sheet probabilities are less certain. He can score though, and has good fixtures.

Go with your gut. If you get Kola and he does start to get rotated, well, you then sell. It's just a -4 transfer (you can tell that I do not subscribe to the "never take a hit for a defender rule.")

Right. I know Swansea looked a bit lively, but don't forget they only played Villa. Norwich away don't bother me but BOU at home is tasty.

I may also wait for Silva and don't do a hit.

Theo why are you doing this to me

The plan was Mahrez to Mane this week , may just stick to it and hope (be disappointed) that Theo plays against Swansea

Maybe we should send Theos shots and touches in box stats to Arsene

Jeepers. Ronald Koeman scored 193 goals in 535 games... as a centre back. He needs to teach VVD his ways.

How do these moves sound, Pedro and Ighalo to Mané and Lukaku? Do both this week for a hit or get Mané this week and Lukaku next?

(Not sure how I ended up with 2 Villa players)

    Butland Ruddy
    Kolarov Dawson Huth Bellerín Richards
Sánchez Yaya Touré Westwood Payet Mahrez
    Vardy Pellè Gomis

    Doing:
    Ruddy ->DDG
    Gomis -> Lukaku

So I include Ya Ya -> Ozil (or other) for -4?
Prob just keep him for another week - even with the price drops 🙁

    Begovic
    Kolarov - Evans - Francis
Sanchez - Ozil - De Bruyne - Mane - Mahrez
    Pelle - Vardy

    McCarthy - Sakho - Naughton - Richards

    0.9 in the bank

Seriously considering playing AOA with Francis dropping out for Sakho. Any issues with my team worth a hit?

Do we assume Baines will come straight in and replace Galloway when fit (2 weeks?). I personally think Galloway has been great and deserves his spot but i imagine he will be straight out the team....

Any Everton fans think there is any chance he holds his spot?

His original position is CB. He could even be moved back there with a jags out.

I don't think you spend 10m on an Argentine international to bench him for Galloway

Many careers start from injuries to first choice picks...and don't get reversed. Bellerin last season, maybe Galloway this season....who knows?....it could happen....

Be great if Galloway could profit from some of the run of easy fixtures - having said that, Baines will be at an attractive price if he's back fit in the team
