Barring the unthinkable, Kevin Davies will be sitting on 54 points in the Fantasy Premier League this evening. His brace of goals and the smart assist for Martin Petrov’s late fourth in the win over Spurs will surely earn him the maximum Bonus Points. That would move the Bolton striker onto 14 Bonus Points overall – more than any other Forward in the game.

The underdogs and the unfashionable were always in with a chance of shining this weekend. With some of the FPL’s top individuals – Rafael Van der Vaart, Nani and Florent Malouda all possibly missing out, the opportunity was always there for the unsung heroes to step forward and save the Gameweek. Ji-Sung Park stepped out of Nani’s shadow and duly obliged over at Old Trafford, but in Fantasy terms, they don’t come more unsung than Kevin Davies.

As usual the Bolton striker was heavily involved throughout today’s game. His Bonus Point popularity may well be a mystery to some, but for those familiar with his influence and contribution to the cause, it’s no surprise. Our Members need only cast an eye over the Opta stat tables, paying particular attention to “Touches”, “Passes Made”, “Key Passes” and “Successful Passes in the Oppositions Half”, to get a view on how Davies compares to the rest of the league. He is without doubt one of the most influential strikers around. In the FPL, that will always make up for his lack of goals – particularly in a Bolton side bereft of stars.

Having earned 18 Bonus Points last season, with 12 the season before that, Davies is on his way to having his best ever season in that area. As for goals, spot-kick duties can only help the cause, as demonstrated today. With 4 goals to his name so far, and a couple of assists to back them up, there’s every reason to expect Davies to notch his best ever FPL points tally.

While Fabio Capello has taken notice, Fantasy Managers have chosen to pass. Priced at 6.3 and with Johan Elmander a cheaper and more fashionable option, Davies seems unlikely to pick up huge interest, even after today’s 16 point haul. Two away fixtures at Everton and Wolves may also put off investors. Bolton have not yet failed to score on their travels however, and once through that pair of away games, Bolton enjoy three home fixtures in four, with Newcastle, Blackpool and Blackburn all visiting the Reebok. Davies has every chance of getting himself on our Christmas wishlists.

Along with Elmander, Davies is this evening amongst the top six strikers in the FPL. Only the Drogba/Anelka fair better as a pairing. Few could have predicted such success for the Bolton attack at the start of the season – a fitting scenario on a day for the underdog.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Seems an overplayed story to me - a more accurate headline would have been:

"Toon striker bags a couple of slappers"

...but I guess that wouldn't have qualified as news.

Doesn't look good that's for sure. Going to take it with a line of salt until further information comes to light, I'd be disappointed if it was proved true. Thought Nolan would have more sense

Aye but if the story is true and that is a giant IF, he should have been keeping the lad on the quiet until the court case died down. Could all be a load of balls though, the main, salient facts are Arsene Wenger shagged a young one. 🙂

I was convinced that Elamander laid on the first goal for Davies. But they've given it to Taylor, along with other systems like Fantasy League Classic.

If you watch MOTD, I'm sure prior to the goal you can see Elmander's no. 9 on the eventual assister, and even see Taylor's no. 7 near the halfway line.

Plus why would Taylor be up front when they're set up in proper formation - and where the hell is Elmander then?

It even looks to be a player of Elmanders height - AND gait! And I'm good at gait!!!

      Stupid knee jerk imo.

With two home games in a row coming up, dropping Bale is really not a good call, especially since his value is rising now as well.

I actually don't buy any of this "resting" crap that's going around. Spurs need Bale, and he's looked fitter than ever this season. He'll play both games and will surely get at least an assist or two.

I can't help but think that when Defoe gets back and if 'arry can figure out how to put VDV, Defoe and Crouch on the park together, Bale won't be getting a huge amount of assists or anything. He might put the cross in, Crouch heads it down and then Defoe or VDV puts it in the back of the net

Crouch will be dropped considering the form he is in! Pavlyuchenko should be ahead of him at the moment.

'arry will probably play 4-5-1 with Defoe up top on his own, VDV behind.

If you've kept Bale for this long mate you may aswell keep him for the next two then decide after that.

You can't go far wrong with NZogbia, brought him in last week and he's already come good, he also has two nice home games coming up as let's face it Liverpool are not great anymore and his price is somewhere in between Ferguson and Arteta which means he carries more threat then the cheapie and does just as much as the expensive one, makes him a bit of a bargin in my eyes.

No. I sold Bale and then bought him back on Friday night along with Arteta.

So I have no allegiance to him and don't care about his price. I thought that, with Van der Vaart out he would do something but it looks like nothings changed.

Would rather 'bale' out then get burned again over the next two gameweeks. I can see plenty of other cheaper mids that I think will offer people more.

If I keep him it will only really be to have 2 free transfers for GW13 and I'm not sure yet whether that's a good enough reason.

If I was playing Champions League fantasy football then Bale would be my captain every week. Regrettably though he does not replicate his points haul in that competition into the FPL game.

Elmo has tot and che next tho, so perhaps wise to stick him in at GW14. Kyriagos has three relatively easy games next at wig, stk and WHM. He also ha 2 goals this season.

Nolan seems good to me too, hopefully all the crap in the media won't hinder his teams performance.

Piq seems like the man to have, yeah. Thanks.

Adam will definitely come in (For Berbatov), Then the captain will be decided between Adam, Cahill, Brunt or Sagna. Adam gets my vote 😉

Funny that the average score after last night is 13. While some people hit over 70. How do you decide to have K. Davies as your captain? lol

God based on my recent FF luck I got a feeling Fabs will do a Hargreaves today and officially land my team in the s**t.

For next GW however I think I'll do: Dembele -> Piquionne

It will be decided on (c) at start of gameweek not the end. You should be able to see which of them has highest form value.

Yes, but you have no idea if he's gone on form or value.

For example, most weeks I've gone on form, but this week I chose value as I wanted Drogba as my default.

Ironically though, I think the form default on my team would have gone to N'Zogbia this week. Typical huh!

    How do you calculate form?
Form is the player's average score per game, calculated from all games played by his club in the last 30 days

Here's the remaining players on my team:

Hart, Malouda, Fabregas (c), Barton, Drogba, Carroll

Here's my glass-is-half-empty prediction of todays precedings:

    Arsenal v Newcastle: 3-1
    Liverpool v Chelsea: 1-2
    West Brom v Man C: 2-4

Arsenal will win on a brace of Nasri goals, Fabs will play 10 min. and do little. Newcastle will score but it will be a Nolan goal.

Chelsea will win on a couple of Drogba goals (few of my mini-league rivals have Nani as captain, Drog would get it then). Malouda will not play. Liverpool gets a goal, dont care who scores cos it will not be Konchesky who I got coming off the bench.

West brom will screw over my goalie royally by landing two and Tevez will land a few beauties for all those who stuck with him (of which I am not one).

    Lets see if I'm right

You think you've got it bad... I'm a girl - apparently on here we're considered to be almost as bad as leprosy; the fact that I'm a girl means I don't have a life; the fact that I also like football is considered 'weird'; I can't be attractive because that would be even weirder; I got 10 points so far and my favourite horse is getting sold next week. Here have your bloody toys back!!

i was so close to doing Park instead of arshavin too but i couldn't bring myself to have 2 midfielders playing with values of less than 5 million, it scared the shit outta me. If Arsh plays and does well then no big deal.

Seems like sound advice to me. I also saved my transfer. Having 2 transfers for this GW starting on Tuesday is gonna be really valuable. Especially as you'll get to see Stoke, Brum, Sunderland & Spurs line ups before the 19:30 deadline.
Therefore my advice would be to wait until 19:15 to do your transfers!
