The EA Sports PPI statistics are now available and the Fantasy Premier League bonus points have now been added to the game. Here’s a game by game breakdown of how this map out for gameweek eight…

Liverpool 1 Man United 1
Gerrard 3, Welbeck 2, Hernandez 1

Few surprises here – we predicted the 2 for Javier Hernandez but won’t begrudge Danny Welbeck a single bonus point for his display and assist on United’s equaliser. Steven Gerrard’s maximum was a foregone conclusion here given his goal and contribution to the Liverpool display.

Chelsea 3 Everton 1
Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Lampard 1

John Terry, always a strong scorer in the EA PPI, not surprisingly comes out on top, having also got on the scoresheet in the 3-1 win. As we predicted, Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard also reaped reward for their goal and assist contributions respectively.

Wigan 1 Bolton 3
Eagles 3, K Davies 2, Diame 1

Chris Eagles was our top ICT Index performer of the week and was also top of the EA PPI rankings. Three bonus points will follow for the Bolton man but, while we predicted returns for Nigel Reo-Coker and David Ngog, it was Kevin Davies (despite his penalty miss) and Wigan’s Mohamed Diame who earned higher PPI totals.

QPR 1 Blackburn 1
Samba 3, Helguson 2, Lowe 1

Although honours were even at Loftus Road, our prediction based on our ICT figures fared well, with Blackburn’s Chris Samba picking up a strong EA PPI total – the third highest in the gameweek. QPR’s scorer Heidar Helguson ranked second in this match, with Blackburn’s Jason Lowe set for a single bonus point for his PPI tally.

Man City 4 Aston Villa 1
Balotelli 3, Johnson 2, Kompany 1

Mario Balotelli earned the top PPI total in this match for his acrobatic opener, with Adam Johnson’s goal and assist earning the winger number two spot. Vincent Kompany demonstrated his newfound threat from set-pieces by claiming a goal- enough to earn him the single bonus point.

Norwich City 3 Swansea 1
Pilkington 3, Martin 2, Barnett 1

With a brace of goals, Anthony Pilkington was amongst the top ICT and EA PPI performers this weekend and it’s no surprise to see him claim the three bonus from this one. We predicted Russell Martin for a strong PPI, but didn’t see Leon Barnett’s single bonus point coming – he continues to score heavily in EA PPI terms and remains a bonus darling as a result. He just edged out our prediction for the remaining bonus – Bradley Johnson.

Stoke 2 Fulham 0
Walters 3, Delap 2, Etherington 1

As expected, Jon Walters collected the top EA PPI score from this home win, with Rory Delap ranking second and Matt Etherington, with two assists, coming in third. Andy Wilkinson was Stoke’s top defensive performer, sharing a PPI score with both Jermaine Pennant and Asmir Begovic.

West Brom 2 Wolves 0
Brunt 3, Foster & Reid 2

Chris Brunt picks up his first bonus points of the season with a top ranking EA PPI display in the local derby victory for the Baggies. Ben Foster was the top rated keeper in both the ICT Index and EA PPI rankings and, subsequently, he fetched the two bonus here; while we predicted Peter Odemwingie for the single bonus, it turns out that Steven Reid collected an identical PPI to Foster and will share two bonus points. Billy Jones came in next on the PPI rankings but was denied a bonus by that share.

Arsenal 2 Sunderland 1
Van Persie 3, Koscielny 2, Larsson 1

Robin Van Persie was amongst the top five PPI performers in the gameweek and dominated this match to collect the inevitable maximum bonus. Few would have seen Laurent Koscielny’s PPI score of 22 coming however; that’s going to earn him two bonus points with Sunderland’s scorer, Seb Larsson, picking up a single bonus as expected.

Newcastle 2 Tottenham 2
Ba & Taylor & Van der Vaart 3

We’ve a share at the top of the PPI rankings in this match with both Demba Ba and Rafael Van der Vaart set to earn 3 bonus points for their 22 point totals. Jonas Gutierrez has to make do with a single bonus for his display then, although the PPI scores from this match are still under review with the assist for Shola Ameobi’s goal seemingly awarded to Yohan Cabaye rather than Ryan Taylor.

*Edit* As indicated, this match was reviewed and, with the award of the assist to Ryan Taylor, he tied with Ba and Van der Vaart at the top of the PPI. The three bonus points were therefore shared between all three players.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think its touch and go who gets dropped. Simpson is better defensively, but Ryan Taylor's free kicking ability might swing it.

Anyone knows how the flagging works on FPL? Brunt is declared fit twice on the official WBA website but remains yellow flagged till last night and drops 0.1. Adebayor starts last night and there is no news of an injury, but remains yellow-flagged till now and will soon drop in price. Meanwhile, it seems most of the other players that started or made the bench over the weekend were unflagged.

I was irritated a lot by the Brunt one until he got 11 points, now losing that extra 0.1 didn't seem so bad. He was passed fit on Thursday wasn't he?

Yeah, I was annoyed too. I don't know exactly which day he was passed fit, all I remember was him staying yellow-flagged until he started the game. Now I am getting annoyed with the same thing happening to Adebayor, except this is even worse, he actually played close to 90 mins and is still yellow-flagged!

Adebayor was a doubt going into the game - Redknapp stated he was 50:50 and then stated before the game he was taking a risk by starting him at Newcastle.

Thanks for the clarification, Mark. I assumed it would be consistent, since he started the match and ended without any further news or indication of a recurrence, he would have his flag removed like the other players that were passed fit for a game.

      Exactly.

Can someone please tell me how Ramires was not yellow-gflagged after his game? I mean, surely he has to be a DOUBT for the next game... The lack of a yellow flag has meant many people get him in and his price goes up, making him unaffordable for me next week.

Ramires is still at 7.2 so he has yet to rise. He was on Sunday morning when more details of the injury were availalble - he has a scan to come so his flag may yet be removed.

Have two frees for next week and am planning on Mata > VDV, Odem > Sturridge, but am wavering slightly. Mata is a great player but doesn't seem much of a point scorer compared to VDV. Odem scored but really need my strikers to start games. Any thoughts?

Mata is getting an assist a game. Whats the difference between him and Silva? And yet everyone thinks Silva is a must have. Consistency is as important as explosiveness. Ill take 5/6 points a week, sometimes more, and be happy with it. In any case, I have bigger concerns than an 'underperforming' Mata. Lol

I personally don`t think there will be much difference between Mata and VDV scores in the next few weeks. To me it seems like a sideways move with arguably no gains.

Looks like you're hustling sideways playa...

We all knee-jerk, I know it hurt scratching together the cash for Mata for the guy that finally came good (Brunt) but I say the Arteta to Ramsey hurt the most. I would say find another way (yes tougher) to finance getting VDV. But if you must have him that is the easiest way to do it. Just don't be surprised if he's not playing in his choice positioning and only plays 65 minutes having no part of the Ade brace (all speculation of course).

    Ok folks...

If you had to make a choice between VDV and Nani for mid/long-term, who and why?

    VDV:
+ Pens, often plays just off the stiker (OOP), not in Europa league squad (less likely to be rotated)
    - That said, with his constant niggling injuries and slight rotation/rest threat (whether it's to the left/right wing or the bench) it's difficult to put the armband on him.

    Nani:
+ Plays for a team that have been scoring goals for fun
    - rotation threat, especially with CL (e.g. GW 18)

I fancy Nani for his consistency, fixtures and captaincy options but VDV seems to be impossible to ignore at the moment. Even if he doesn't play particularly well, he seems to hoover up goals, assists and bonus points.

Thought? Who would you go for?

      Who isn't a rotation threat?

The only big player I can think of that hasn't been rested at some point and surprised everybody is RVP.

It's part and parcel of the game, and impossible to properly predict. I'd try to put it out your mind and then decide who you think is the best pick, go with that person and live with the fact that every now and then rotation will get you.

I'd pick Brunt for sure, wouldn't bench a midfielder over a defender (unless the defender had a significant goal threat).

I'd say bench Simpson... could see the derby being low scoring and Swansea aren't likely to score away from home if Wolves can defend well! Tough one though

No...I offered my opinion about a certain set transfers.
Mac's was choosing out of Nani or Gerrard for the next few weeks, and there were many people trying to talk him out of it..I told him to go with his gut, and well...it kinda worked, he went with his gut and Nani got benched and Gerrard scored.

can't, I only have 2.0 in the bank and the Welbeck to Sturr diff would finance Mod to Nani. In any event I think the CL this week will let me know A LOT. He's the 1st choice pairing with Olsson now. Been MOTM for the last 2 home games running. Was a new signing for Brom this summer, and he's drawn lots of praise from Foster and others. Should be a good choice for a 4m cheapie when West Brom's fixtures are better.

On Tamas, he'll just have to wait his turn now to get back in the side, as McAuley hasn't put a foot wrong and i can't see him leaving the team for a while yet, barring injury.

Any newcastle fans on here, is attilla about? Just wondering on this santon situation. I wildcarded last week and swapped r.taylor for simpson as had to free up funds (typical taylor got an assist). Also thought it was a good move long term as taylor's place would be under threat but a little worried that simpson came off. I'm thinking taylor was kept on the pitch cos of his free kicks?

during that time newcastle was down 1-2, of course they wouldn't sub out their best FK taker.
i think everybody agrees that simpson is a better defender. So if you really come down on this, it might just be a technical substitution for just that one particular game

Alright mate..I am not Attila but will put in my two pence!

Santon can play left or right back it seems and its not clear which side he will play on. neither of our fullbacks are especially strong, but R Taylor has generally been the weakest. However there has been talk, and after yesterday's sub, more talk, of Santon playing with R Taylor. That could mean Taylor RB and Santon LB. No one is sure really and I have Simpson myself so I wish I was!

Also depends on who plays ahead of them. If Marveux starts next week for instance he might want an experienced RB behind him...all guess work! However Id imagine a lot of people will talk about it this week as Simpson is prob the best 4 mill def! Sorry if that doesnt help...Taylor and Simpson at risk basically!Santon will play when fit...

      nice name btw!

Cheer mate. I'll just be well annoyed it's simpson that gets dropped as I got r.taylor at 4m and he's 4.7m now. I only had 8.2m to spend on 2 defendes though on a wildcard and didn't want to change the rest of my team so plumped for the pretty standard simpson and n.taylor. Guess just a case of sitting back and seeing what happens.

On the other hand people have been saying this stuff for the past couple weeks on here and they both keep cleaning up the points, maybe just go with your gut on this one.

Really tough one. VDV and Sturridge look more likely to be rotated but if they score well when they play it doesn't really matter!

do you mean Mata or would you want to double up on Tottenham attackers?

I think he means he has Ade, so he clearly thinks Tottenham cover is important

Does Jones to Enrique sound good given Liverpool's nice few fixtures?

Hey guys, I might be the last one on here to still have Sessegnon AND Moses 🙁

I don't want to bring Walters in this week and think I can live without Petrov in my team. The only option is HBA, but he might not be ready to start a game. Any suggestions?
