Harry Kane continues his fine form by bagging the opener in the North London derby. Mesut Ozil earns yet another assist as Arsenal salvage a late point. City are held to a goalless draw by Villa in Remi Garde’s first match in charge, whilst goals from Yannick Bolasie and Scott Dann hand Jurgen Klopp his first loss at the Liverpool helm.

City Toil on their Travels Again

Manchester City were held to a 0-0 stalemate at Villa Park, marking the third road trip in succession that they’ve failed to record a victory. On the flip side, the Sky Blues have now earned clean sheets in all but one of their away matches this campaign, underlining the merits of investing in their rearguard. With Gael Clichy back in the matchday squad and Pablo Zabaleta nearing a return, though, Vincent Kompany could represent their only sure-fire defensive starter beyond the international break. Yesterday’s match means the league leaders have conceded just once in eight outings with the Belgian on board – he’s second only to Riyad Mahrez (7.3 to 7.9) for points per appearance this season.

Wilfried Bony’s 6% ownership were left to bemoan their bad luck when the Ivorian frontman sustained a hamstring complaint and had to be replaced in the 25th minute. Considering he’s a doubt for Man City’s home clash against Liverpool in a fortnight’s time and Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful of a return for Sergio Aguero, Bony owners will be looking for a way out.

Garde Halts Villa’s Losing Streak

Remi Garde commandeered the Villans to a hard-fought draw in his first match at the helm, securing the hosts’ first shut-out since a trip to Bournemouth in Gameweek 1 – much to the ire of the 24,000 managers that shipped out Micah Richards prior to the encounter. Although their next quartet of fixtures (eve, WAT, sou, ARS) mainly looks tough for defensive returns, yesterday’s result will certainly instill plenty of confidence around Villa Park.

Garde enacted six changes from the side that lost to Spurs last time out, benching the likes of Jack Grealish, Leandro Bacuna and Joleon Lescott. In the process of grinding out a result, Villa failed to card a single attempt on target for the first time since August 2014, illuminating their paucity of goal threat. Given that they’ve posted four blanks in their previous seven outings and will be a team in flux until Garde determines his first XI, few will be prepared to jump on board for now.

Gibbs Rescues Gunners

The North London derby ended all-square at the Emirates, with Kieran Gibbs the unlikely scorer of Arsenal’s late leveller. Mesut Ozil delivered the cross for the left-back to prod home, perpetuating his sublime run of form; the German international has notched eight assists in his last six starts, boosting his tally to 10 for the season. Alexis Sanchez looked out of rhythm and registered his third consecutive blank, which might encourage some owners to explore Ozil as a cheaper (8.8 compared to 11.6) source of Gunners coverage. Indeed, in terms of consistency, there’s no question that Ozil is the more reliable – he’s produced points in eight of his 11 league outings, whereas Sanchez has delivered in only four of his 12 appearances.

Arsenal now embark on an excellent quartet of matches (wba, nor, SUN, avl) that includes three trips away from their home turf. Considering Arsene Wenger’s men tallied 11 goals in their last trio of road ties, it’s no surprise to see that Ozil has already earned almost 40,000 new owners since the weekend, more than any midfielder in the FPL game.

Kane Nets Again

Harry Kane capitalised on some slack defending from the Gunners to open the scoring and grab his fifth goal in three league starts. Allied with his strike against Anderlecht in midweek, the Walthamstow-born marksman has clearly begun to find his groove following a lethargic start to the campaign. No forward amassed more shots on target (11) than Kane over the last four Gameweeks, providing further incentive to snap up the 9.3-priced striker ahead of a decent schedule (WHU, CHE, wba, NEW).

Danny Rose showcased his proclivity for attacking returns by recording an assist for the third Gameweek on the trot. Moreover, he now ranks top among defenders for attempts (six) across the last four Gameweeks, which suggests that his first goal of the term could be on the horizon. The presence of three home matches in the next four Gameweeks bodes well for a back line that’s conceded just four goals at White Hart Lane.

Klopp Suffers First Reds Loss

Liverpool fell to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace. After going behind early on, Philippe Coutinho restored parity for the Reds three minutes before the break, while Adam Lallana grabbed his maiden assist of the season. The former now boasts three goals in two outings and fashioned more attempts (14) than any midfielder over the last four Gameweeks. Beyond a challenging trip to Manchester City next time out, Liverpool’s schedule (SWA, new, WBA, wat, LEI, sun) provides a perfect platform for the 8.2-priced Brazilian to bolster his attacking output.

At the back, though, Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of Mamadou Sakho after the defender was forced off with a knee injury towards the end of the first=half. A possible period on the sidelines could offer the 4.9-priced Dejan Lovren a way back to the starting XI and, along with Alberto Moreno (4.8), offer Fantasy managers options in the sub-5.0 bracket.

Eagles Bask in Away Comforts

A 2-1 victory at Anfield marked Palace’s tenth road win of the calendar year – only Arsenal (11) lay claim to a superior tally. With Dwight Gayle sidelined and Connor Wickham only fit enough for a cameo role, Alan Pardew surprisingly deployed Bakary Sako and Yannick Bolasie in the central forward positions. The latter broke the deadlock after 21 minutes, netting his second goal of the campaign – indeed, Bolasie has now scored two of Palace’s last five goals and with some excellent fixtures (SUN, NEW, eve, SOU, sto, bou) to follow, he’s starting to look like a viable option at just 6.1.

Scott Dann carded his second goal in nine outings to fire the visitors back into the lead at the 82-minute mark. Palace’s defence has tightened up of late – surrendering just five goals in six outings – which draws attention to their rearguard assets. Priced at 5.1, Dann now sits fifth amongst defenders in the FPL game and, given that Joel Ward (4.4) had to settle for a bench role yesterday, the centre-half looks the most likely source of points from Pardew’s improving rearguard.

He may be doing better but still a poor FPL pick. Prone to cards and playing for a very defensive team.

Pointing out someone who is doing even worse doesn't make Mcclean a valid fpl option?

My father in law was 20 during the troubles in Derry and some of the stories he comes out with about the British Army and the IRA are terrifying. The British Army basically ruled their lives and got away with anything they wanted. He was arrested, beaten in the street, shot at etc so it's very easy to see why he would never wear a poppy to support the people who did that. He still does though because for him the poppy represents who gave their lives in WW2, not what happened in the 70's.

It makes it very difficult for me to even live around here being English as I have to be pretty careful where I go and what I say. Hopefully in 20-30 years the mindset will be very different with a new generation.

Have you gone to Celtic Park Tatty? Derry supporters are the most hospitable GAA people in the country, lovely decent people. You get narrow minds everywhere though I suppose many in Derry have little time for England. Fair play to you.

I must sat I am delighted that people on here are so tolerant of other people's views. Whether someone agree's or not is irrelevant in the discussion imo as if everyone only wore the poppy out of fear of reprisals it would be a sad stare of affairs.

I wonder if this tolerance is indicative of British society as a whole or just the ffs community?

Sadly, if you read The Sun/Daily Mail (please don't), it is by no means a tolerance that has permeated Britain entirely. The FFS community, however, is tolerant of anyone who doesn't ask "I got 95 points this week, any good?" 😉

That is a pity doolittle, I mean if people are only wearing them out of fear then surely it demeans those that wear them to show their pride (quite rightfully) in what their soldiers have sacrificed for them.

As an Irishman I would choose not to wear it (some Irish people choose to) as it signifies a celebration of dead soldiers in the British army some of whom died while carrying out orders in Ireland. I realise these guys were just carrying out orders and they felt at the time they were fighting on the side of right and that is why I would respect the poppy and those that choose to wear it.
Obviously from an Irish perspective we see those "orders" that were carried out as atrocities and acts of war against our country. This is the reason the majority of Irish people can't in good conciense wear the poppy.

The thing to remember is there are no winners only losers in war and our two nations have moved on from the past and forgiven the atrocities carried out by both sides. Just don't expect me to celebrate the dead from the opposition 🙂

I'm an Englishman living in Derry and married a Catholic and I can tell you that the amount of bother he and his family would get in the area they live makes it not worth it for him. He'll never be seen to support the British army, ever.

Saying that me and my wife have been wearing our poppies proudly. My wife actually knits and sells poppies donating the money to the British Legion and she's Catholic, she's just not a stubborn idiot living 40 years in the past.

And McClean is a 'stubborn idiot living in the past'?

A Catholic Derry woman knitting poppies and donating money to the British Legion is far from standard practice.

Doing so hardly makes your wife or yourself open minded, to me it highlights that you don't have strong beliefs against poppy fascism, which isn't surprising seeing as your an Englishman.

I have no issue with people wearing a poppy to mark remembrance day. It just isn't part of my culture.Being labeled as living in the past for not partaking in this action is a lack of respect. So its one way respect the respect coming from me and zero respect for the decision of people like James and myself not to wear one. Should we play ball to make people happy? Is that the way to move on?

He'll no Hibbert I won't wear one either with my reasoning posted below. All I am saying is you can't say someone is wrong for thinking you should wear one as that is "their" view.

You and I probably don't agree with it but we have to respect it the same as they need to respect our wishes not to wear it even though they don't agree with it.

Unfortunately people do live in the past here Tony. Everyday on the news there is a mention of the Troubles in some way. It's a constant everyday that people can't ever seem to escape. You still even have separate schools for Catholics and Protestants creating a divide.

I couldn't name you a person under 30 of the 100's I know that want to hear about it, discuss it or even care about it anymore so maybe that's a sign that in the future this generation will slowly move forward and become more integrated. Hopefully 🙂

We don't really have strong beliefs at all, but we both lost relatives in WW2 and we use it as a mark of respect.

I was surprised when I was chatting to a lot of people who are Catholic about it at the weekend that they just wouldn't care enough either way not to wear one and agreed it was disrespectful of him. He and his family are from the most republican part of Derry and have extremely strong beliefs so my above comment was maybe harsh on him as I do respect his decision. He shouldn't be forced to wear one if it goes against his beliefs. I guess it's just frustrating that it's an issue at all.

It really is good especially for national and international business. I don't do Facebook but as I understand things Facebook is better for local promotion.

I'll give you a shout if I need any video content produced in future.

Completely his choice, there are many reasons one may not wish to wear a poppy - I don't wear one because I'm a pacifist and I believe it's been adopted politically in a way that glorifies the army/war. I of course have nothing against people choosing to wear one, but I remember and pay respects to those who lost their lives just as much as anyone else - I just don't do it through a poppy.

I also hate this "poppy fascism" - soldiers fought for freedom, and many were "white feathered" into losing their lives. The way to remember that is certainly not to pressurise and humiliate those who choose to exercise their personal rights.

      Agree with Sepp Balders.

The pressure to wear a poppy now is unbelievable. Personally, I won't ever wear one again. This doesnt change my feelings or gratitude or amend the fact that family members died. It just means I'll remember them for the right reasons, not because of right-wing morons and politicians forcing people to wear one.

Yep, the number of times I hear a variation of "have you got your poppy yet?" (with the emphasis on you and your) is unreal. At school at least it felt like more of a narcissistic show of "I've got my poppy" rather than as part of an act of remembrance. Of course as we've grown up we've definitely come to realise a lot more about its symbolism, but I do think the pressure to wear one now is ridiculous.

    Can we wildcard week 20?

Anyone brave enough to go without Aguero until then? That's 8 gamesweeks. He will probably take 2 or 3 weeks to get match fit. So 5 or 6 weeks without him.

The reason I ask is even though i can get him in for 1 hit now there are many other options I would rather transfer in this week (Ozil, Lukaku)

It will take 3 or 4 weeks of constant -4''s to reshape my squad in order to bring him in and by that time the wildcard won't be far off. Hardly worth it.

I am thinking Lukaku can match him until the new year.

United have 8 cleans sheets in 12 Premier League games.

Not sure we're that good to be honest but I could see us getting to maybe 18-20.

Eventually we'll have to attack 🙂

Got the tactics wrong in that game for sure. Arsenal were on fire first half though - won't happen all the time.

4 clean sheets in a row since that game just in the prem.

No denying they are good defensively but not that good imo. Thought they were lucky to keep a clean sheet vs Palace, City look a bit toothless as seen against Villa and Berahino really should have scored that chance.

Currently toying with the idea of bringing Aguero only in the new year and when he starts showing consistency.

            Myhill Butland
            Bellerin Sagna Rojo vvd Mariappa
            Mahrez Sanchez kdb Ozil Payet
            Vardy Lukaku Pelle

            0.8ITB

            2 transfers

            A) Sagna > Moreno
            B) VVD > Moreno
            C) Rojo > Moreno

            X) Pelle > Kane
            Y) Vardy > Kane
            Z) Lukaku > Kane

            Currently on A and X
Rationale: MCI fixtures aren't great and you never know when Sagna will be replaced and need to get Kane before price rise and his underlying stats are looking good.

            Thoughts?

Have also toyed with going without Aguero, but if you're gonna do it you best do it by getting a combo of players that Agueor owners won't have (unless they've got a crazy high TV)

F.eks - Benteke, who most won't have du to keeping Vardy / Lukaku. Same goes for Kane, but a wee bit less so, as he's becoming near essential.

It's problematic because if I get Ozil then I can't afford Aguero as a straight swap for Pelle.

Any Everton fans around? Is Deulofeu real deal?

Thinking of having Lukaku + Deulofeu combo for their forthcoming fixtures.

He's excellent, possibly the most exciting player I've seen here since Rooney - his stats aren't particularly great, but his final ball is very good. I'd also still have a slight concern over his minutes - he should start most games, but you can't be certain with Kone, Naismith, Mirallas, Lennon, Osman and McGeady all around.

I've watched him a fair bit this season, looks really promising also when he was at lone, he was really good back then.

I looking at him or Bolasie as my fifth mid. When starting, gets involved in almost every goals. Maybe Matinez favors him due to Spanish connection and he becomes nailed on? 😉

I hope so, he'd be one of the first names on my team sheet, but Martinez was sometimes reluctant to play him in his loan, and at the start of this season. However, he looks like he trusts him now (and Deulofeu's game has improved), it's more just an issue that the players I listed have to get game time at some point, and Deulofeu could be the man to drop out.

JK asked me the same Deulofeu vs Bolasie question, I said Deulofeu and Bolasie scored, so be wary of my advice 😉

Ha, both are exciting as hell. Bolasie maybe more explosive due to bigger goal threat. Need to talk to Walsh on him 😉 Delofeu looks assists magnet and better fixtures long term. Tricky choice thou.

For what it's worth I've nailed my hat on Bolassie as was my plan due to his fixtures & subject to his improving fitness & form..
He's a had a slow start, was injured at the beginning of the season.
                  but 4 points for me.
                  1) Him & Puncheon are 1st picks, Zaha & Sako are not. (imo)
                  2) He's steadily improving - looked great 2 seasons ago with no final product, last season was a big improvement and I see that continuing especially under Pardew and now that he's looking fit.
                  3) Has an explosion factor , in other words can score big like he did last year if you catch him at the right time and fixtures look good.
                  4) Love watching him, such a talent

Thanks GNU and Dolittle for your thoughts.

Yes, I'm really tempted to bring in Bolasie for his explosive potential. Also having quality ball player in the team may improve his returns this year.

Assuming no one picks up an injury, bench one of the following for next GW.

            Right.

            2 FT's and £3.9m ITB

            DDG. McCarthy
            Morneo. Williams. Prodl. Kolv. Bellerin.
            Sanchez. Mahrez. Ayew. Payet. KDB
            Vardy. Ighalo. Pelle

I'm thinking of doing Pelle to Kane today - before price rise (I know international risk, but willing to risk)
Then Payet to Ozil after International.

Then week after Ighalo to Kun and do a -4 to do KDB to a £4.9m Mid

This sounds like a plan? I'd love to update my defence - but lets seen

My team's in a bit of a mess currently. What changes can I make?
            De Gea, Schwarzer
            VvD,Alderweireld, Dawson, Moreno, Targett
            Sanchez,KdB, Sterling, Payet, Drinkwater
            Lukaku, Vardy,Ighalo
Have 2.1m itb in the bank currently and 1 FT. I am willing to take a -4 hit though.

Considering these moves, because my team is in shambles:

            Mane > Ozil
McCarthy > Hennessy (Myhill up against Arsenal next :s)
            Pelle > Lukaku

            for -8, thoughts?

Not the top one. Give mane one more game at least. Keeper transfer not worth a hit either.

              I would just do pelle > lukaku/kane.
